The alternating viewpoints work sometimes; in this instance, I didn’t like the viewpoint of the abusive, rapey, drug-dealing, horrible boyfriend. I found everything from his point of view distasteful and gross. Even as a “bad guy” I didn’t like him. I just thought he was a moron and a controlling creep at the same time. Also didn’t dig the “insta-love” plot. I might have liked it more if we didn’t have to hear the drug dealer’s point of view. More time should have been devoted to the good characters. Although I found Sloan’s behavior disturbing, even if she thought she was doing the “right thing” for her brother; I didn’t like her as a character. She was obviously a doormat.
This book had me all crazy. It was absolutely amazing but sad. It will send you spiraling into soo many feelings
I was very generously gifted this book on my Kindle app. I’ve recently begun reading Colleen Hoover books and continuously find myself enthralled and unable to put the book/device down. If you’ve yet to read a Hoover novel, do yourself a favor and pick one up today!
Too Late was a side project the author was working on via WattPad (forgive any inaccuracies, this is my understanding of the situation) and after being hounded by readers, she decided to go ahead and publish it. I think it was a good call, fans love to have actual copies of their favorite author’s works, whether in paperback or on their reading device and I’m sure CoHo fans are no different. What was really unique, to me, is that she chose to publish the work in the same order she published it online. This means that the prologue was near the end and that there were more than one epilogue. I found this to be interesting and I enjoyed being able to read it the way the fans read it online…if not in the same delayed manner considering I read it in less than 24 hours without having to wait for the next chapter to be posted!
The subject matter is darker than the other books I’ve read by Hoover, but still keeping within the same basic writing style and genre. There were many times where it got to be too intense and I had to set down my Nook and walk away for a minute. I had the same issue with the last CoHo book I read, Ugly Love. Even though it gets intense and emotional, I love reading that kind of story. A story that you’re so invested in, that you’re truly concerned for the characters as if they were real people and perhaps even friends.
If you are a fan of Colleen Hoover, or if you really enjoy stories of the contemporary fiction/realistic fiction genres you will enjoy this book.
C Hoover always gets 5 stars. Amazing, and worth every penny!
Okay, I’m going to be totally honest. I both loved and hated this book. Colleen Hoover has such an amazing writing style. The way her stories can have you hating and loving the same character just amaze me. All three main characters had me feeling that way in this book. Yes, even horrible Asa. Him especially because he is such a terrible person you automatically hate him, but then she explains his childhood and there it is, I actually started to feel a little sorry for the guy. With that said, this book is pretty intense at times just so you know. Great book, I highly recommend.
Not what I expected…definitely a page-turner!
As always, Hoover knows how to write a good story. You’ll fall in love with Carter, for sure. The story was very different than her usual, and for the first time I found myself kinda not liking the main girl character, but it didn’t take away from the story. Very well done! Loved it
