I am so here for this series and loving it! I wasn’t sure if I would but I have been hooked from book one and even more entangled now after reading book two. I truly love the way the author spins the web of intrigue as we read and makes you wonder if you even know what is going on. I really enjoy the adventurous feel you get as you follow the twins Izzy and Kain in their second year of school. This brings new questions to light and even more intrigue as to what is happening to these two. I love the way the magic and supernatural pieces are an accentuation to the story, not the whole thing as this makes it seem just a bit more realistic. I am so excited to get my hands on the next book and see what adventures it will take us on next!
Tompkin’s School: For The Dearly Departed (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 2) by Tabi Slick is a good second book for this series. The Torvik twins are back at the Tompkins School for another year. A school specifically created to kill them and others like them, as near as they can tell. Quite a bit going on in this story, it’s fast paced and there are quite a few details and lots of interesting players. There is the big mystery and it will keep you guessing. Can’t wait for the next one.
Tompkins School For The Dearly Departed picks up where we least book 1. Kain and Izara are still learning about themselves, powers, and who to trust. This YA novel is definitely an original take of a paranormal storyline. You get sucked into their world by Tabi Slick and her creative plot twists that you can’t stop reading! So excited about book 3.
This was a really good continuation of the story about Kain and Izara. The story took a bit of a dark turn but I loved it. The twists and turns in this book kept me on the edge and I had no idea where it was going. Tabi Slick has created a winner and I look forward to reading the next installment in this series. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to read a good supernatural series.
I highly recommend reading the first book in the Topkin’s School for the Dearly Departed. You will have the story of the twins Izzy and Kain. This is a YA Paranormal story that has drama, adventure, mystery, and suspense. The Twins have abilities that they are learning to use. They are still trying to find out if their abilities are a curse or a benefit. They are not sure who they can trust and look for answers to understanding their abilities. They are on an adventure but they are still new and there could be trouble coming their way. I highly recommend this book to get lost in an adventure of the twins Izzy and Kain.
This is my second book by Tabi Slick. Tompkin’s School: For the Dearly Departed is a story that includes mystery, danger, and suspense. You absolutely need to read these in order. Besides the fact that Tabi Slick’s ability to wordsmith is outstanding- you get to follow everything happening easier with reading in order. Izzy and Kain are in the middle of it once again as the new school year starts, and new challenges evolve for them as well as new dangers and different enemies. I recommend this trilogy if you like paranormal and even if you don’t- this storyline is fantastic and will get you turning the pages to see what’s happening next.
Second book in this fantastic series. This book is extremely creative. The twins seem to be cursed and have no control over their lives. Therefore when their lives are put in danger they are st they wits end until they connect thier dots with the past. Action, Adventure and time travel this book is for you.
I give Tompkin’s School: For The Dearly Departed (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 2) by Tabi Slick, 4 stars.
This book picks up with our characters after book one and the suspense and action does not stop until the end. A young adult supernatural book, it revolves around students of a boarding school. Kain and Izara have changed so drastically from what they once were. The struggle between retaining what they were and believe plus coming to figure out just what they now are is very evident and makes them seem quite real. But this isn’t the only issue in this book. There are many characters for and against them, but they don’t really know just who is who. I enjoyed the cast of characters in this story.
The book itself is a great story written to keep you entertained, intrigued, and guessing. The author does a great job of this and I cannot wait to see where the story leads us next. If you are a fan of YA supernatural books, this series is for you.
Tompkin’s School: For The Dearly Departed by Tabi Slick is the second book in A Supernatural Academy Trilogy. The book continues from where book 1 left off, so I recommend reading book 1 first. The twins, Izara and Kain, are getting more control of their powers. The problem comes into with their ever-changing world who can they trust? This series got even better with this book. There is intrigue and adventure for the characters. I really enjoy how the characters are changing and adjusting to their situation and look forward to where they go in the future. This has great world building also. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series in the future.

This is a very creative story. The series is definitely original in context. I believe that you should read part one to be able to fully follow along with this book. There is time travelling several times in this book with references to book one. Jain and Izzy’s powers are developing and getting stronger. Neither enjoys being the creatures that they are but I think Izzy is accepting it more than her brother. This is their second year at the school and they are thrown into some crazy situations. There is a lot of intrigue in this book and the ending will leave you with your mouth hanging open. There are more characters introduced but unfortunately it just raises more questions. I’m hoping all of them will be answered in part three.
Tompkins School: For the dearly departed by Tabi Slick a fantasy of a four-star read. This is number two in the Supernatural Academy Series and it could be read as stand-alone, but honestly, I would advise you to read them in order as they do build the background and the characters. If I hadn’t read the first, I don’t think I would have enjoyed number two as much as I did. When you read this story, you are told it by the twins Kain and Izzy, you are there with them when they figure who to listen to, who to trust and who they shouldn’t. There is a lot going on with this story, a lot of jumping around, but as you read you are able to keep up and keep it all clear. This is a great story and I am eager to read the next instalment.
I loved this book! This series continues to just improve. Second books in a series in general are bridges between the first and third. They don’t usually stand well on their own or surpass the original. I might have to say that I’m glad to find this is an exception to that generalization. Extremely well written, I am fascinated by the continued character development of the twins and this paranormal universe. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and series and am seriously on pins and needles waiting for the next installment.

The story is unique and original and Tabi made me fall in love with her first book and drew me into a world that is different and enticing. Her cleverly casted words and crafted characters leave you wanting more. The journey with Izzy and Kain is fraught with mysteries and suspense and is truly one of a kind that is totally engrossing.
Tabi Slick has done it again with another addition to this series that is once again epic! This book was a whole other level and I couldn’t put it down! This is the continuation of the story of Kain and Izara as they continue their lives and the consequences which go with them, but we start with them on their summer holidays, Izara has chosen to stay with Lee at his home near the school in Oklahoma, but Kain has decided to go to New York and stay with his Aunt.
While Kain is in New York, he has been working as an intern at a music magazine as a journalist, or more accurately, as an errand boy, he was hoping that his would mean he could have a rest from the telepathy, but instead, they are still connected, but because of the distance between them, it is only through their dreams and these are becoming more scary and realistic at the same time. They are also changing in the way they view them, they are seeing them from each other’s points of view meaning that they don’t get as much rest as they would hope to. He has also been struggling to control his powers at the full moon.
Izara, however, has been enticed by her power and is finding it harder and harder to control it. The flames she can conjure are appearing more and more often and it is becoming harder to keep others from finding out about them. The more time that she spends with her friends, the harder she has to work to keep them and herself distracted from the truth.
As their powers become stronger and more unpredictable, their other hope of having time away from Choyce and his determination to get them to help him solve a problem didn’t happen either. He is intent on getting their help and gives them both a proposal, he will help them to get control of their powers, if they help him in return, so as they return to school and struggle to hide themselves from the teachers and the other students, Kain and Izara realise that they want the same thing but in different way, Izara wants to embrace what and who she is, but Kain only wants to do that so that he can live a normal life, graduate and continue his life.
The question is whether they can both get what they want and whether the price will be too high to pay. Will their dreams lead them to a solution and will they be able to make a deal to help each other, or will it all end in disaster?
The only way to find out is to go through the steps with them and make the same discoveries which they do.
Tompkin’s School: For The Dearly Departed by Tabi Slick is the second book in the Supernatural Academy Trilogy. This boo does need to be read in order as it follows the same characters and their journey the whole way through.
This is a great addition to this series. For me I felt like it really built on everything that had happened in book 1 and showed a great development of the twins’ characters. The book was just as exciting and action packed as I found the first one to be and it was so easy to slip right back into this world – almost like you never left off.
This series is the first that I have read by this author but I am definitely enjoying her work so far. I am looking forward to reading book 3 and other work she has to offer.
Tompkin’s School: For The Dearly Departed (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 2) by Tabi Slick was an interesting paranormal read. I really enjoyed the development of Kain and Izara throughout this book. I loved getting to see more of the history and the attention to detail was great for further world building. I thought the pacing was great, I didn’t feel rushed or dragged down in any way. I cannot wait to see what happens in the third book and to get all of my questions answered!
4 Stars
Tompkin’s School For The Dearly Departed is the second book in the Supernatural Academy Trilogy by Tabi Slick. It is an original young adult paranormal academy story/series- with drama, mystery, action, adventure, suspense, and some fabulous world building.
After reading the first book in the series, I was hooked, and couldn’t wait to read what came next. We meet twins Izzy and Kain in Book One, two teenager who have some pretty unique abilities- but they seem to consider their powers to be more of a curse than a benefit. They still don’t fully understand their abilities- and are still looking for answers. With unknown enemies lurking, it makes knowing who to trust quite difficult. What ensues makes for a fantastic adventure!
I really recommend reading book one- so as not to feel ‘lost’ in this story. I think going into this book as a standalone could be a little confusing- so do yourself a favour and read Book #1 first.
Bring on the next book!
Thank you, Tabi Slick!
