I loved Kate and Jack’s story. It made me laugh, swoon, cry, and fall in love with their story. That little match maker Jake really stole my heart, I absolutely loved that little boy. This is a really good, quick read that has all the feels. I look forward to going back to read the other two books in the series and any other books by this author.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
Oh my heart! This latest trip to Beekman Hills gave me all the swoony, heart-tripping feels.
Kate is the local kindergarten teacher; Jack is a soldier home on leave visiting with friends. Their meet-cute at the school, where Jack is having lunch with his honorary nephew, is lovely. The mutual attraction blossoms and they spend Jack’s entire months leave together. The end of their tryst, though bittersweet, was always a certainty.
An unfortunate condom-busting incident during their time together leads to the mother of all inevitabilities. But with no way of contacting Jack, Kate is forced to go it alone, albeit supported by her chosen family of friends.
The way the author writes this story is just comforting and spell-binding all at once. I read until the wee small hours in order to finish the book. There is humour, tragedy, love and friendship all wrapped up in a great story. Kate and Jack are well rounded, mature characters who compliment each other and the rest of the cast.
Although part of the Beekman Hills series, it can be read as a stand-alone. However, favourite characters from the other books make appearances and you would be doing yourself a favour by reading the entire series.
Beekman Hills feels like coming home, with the author and her characters ready to greet you when you arrive. I shall never tire of reading their adventures.
I totally wish I had read each and every book in this series; but, this book is my first in the series and I felt I might have missed something a couple of times. To be honest, I can’t mark this author down one bit as the story-line is so touching and truthful from the first page, it became my spectacular read for the week. The last three chapters had me laughing, crying and totally wanting more from this author. “Jack” Jackson, SEAL home on 30-day leave, meets Kate, the Kindergarten teacher. There are scenes with family; times with little 5-year olds; and, perfect adult times with romance. I read the final three chapters and cried my eyes out; went to bed; got up and re-read those chapters to my husband and cried my eyes out once again. There is so much meaning and depth to this book that it will become my re-read when I need something special. Thanks for a great book.
I didn’t realize what an accidental pregnancy fan I am. In a story, not in real life, no babies coming out of me! Plus add in that Jack is in the military and I’m sold!
I haven’t read the other Beekman Hills stories but I don’t think I’ve missed anything. I love how sassy and southern Kate is. Especially with her Y’alls. And I love how the author wrote that Kate’s accent got deeper and more southern the angrier she got.
And little Jake. Oh how my heart hurts for him and Chloe. But little Jake with his HUGE case of hero worship for Jack is just so sweet and special. You can see why Jake is Kate’s favorite.
I definitely want to go back and read the other books, especially if they’re as good as this was.
I loved this book. Jack is back for a short time from the army when he meets kindergarten teacher Kate and the sparks fly. There are so many great twists in this book that keep you hooked. This is the third book in the series and I didn’t know that when I started reading it. I you haven’t read the other two I would start with the first one. It will make it easier to follow the story. I highly recommend this book.
An amazing book. A new author fof me bit definitely not my last book from them. Absolutely loved reading this book. A must read xx
I am so glad I discovered KC Enders last year, when I started reading more romance again. I loved this book from the very start because the characters are so powerful and so real. It is impossible not to love these two.
Kate is a NYC school teacher. (She’s the second teacher heroine I’ve read about in the last few weeks.) She’s a southern transplant and super sassy, with a history of some bad dates. OK really bad dates.
Jack is home on leave for a month and really just looking for a Miss Right now.
Oh and then there’s the matter of the little boy, who is Jack’s bff’s son. He is quite possibly the most precious child I’ve encountered in any book I’ve read.
I just don’t know where to begin with this book. Its funny, its sad, its fabulous. It combines two tropes, unplanned pregnancy and military romance, two that I don’t usually pick, but it was done so well here. This book is perfect!
There is one scene with a condom very early on in the book that had me laughing out loud. This type of scene isn’t what I’d expect in any romance I’ve read, and it had me in absolute stitches.
Near the end your heart may be yanked out and tossed on the floor, because OMG the heartbreaking loss and feels. I was gutted for awhile there with all the emotions this story gave me.
KC Enders is up there with Andrea Johnston as one of my favorite authors now.
When Kate and Jack hook up for a month of what’s supposed to be a no-strings fling, neither was expecting the actual strings that would attach themselves very quickly!
I liked Tombstones. It’s well-written, sexy, and Kate and Jack are interesting, likable characters that are easy to relate to. I can’t say I was all that thrilled with Jack’s reaction to Kate’s news, but then I guess that just makes him all the more realistic. And I do like that once he thought things through, he took his head out of his ass and got with the program. But I cannot forget the very best part of Tombstones, little Jake, the scene-stealer, the entire show stealer! He brightened up the entire story and honestly elevated what could have been a standard romance to something a little more engaging and fun. I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series, but now that I’ve read this one and really liked it, I will definitely be on the lookout for more of this series and more from this author in general.
Love this book.
WTH! This book took me on an emotional ride. It definitely threw in a few surprises along the way too. It is funny, a bit naughty, and has some heartbreaking moments.
School teacher meets Captain in the Special Forces. This meeting occurs when a student brings his Uncle to school. Ugh so sweet when you add interesting children to a story. Oh you can also plan for this couple to spice up the page too (wink wink).
I knew going in that this story had a surprise pregnancy but having said that, this book really had so much more to it. I don’t want to give anything away but ummm maybe have some tissues ready. That is ALL I am saying. HAPPY READING!
This was by far my favorite Beekman Hills book. I absolutely loved Kate and Jack. The chemistry between them was hot! One thing I loved about Kate, was although she was totally into Jack, she wasn’t needy and didn’t play games. It was refreshing to read. I’ve heard this is the last Beekman Hills book, but I would love more of this couple!
I will start by saying that I love the world of Beekman Hills that KC Enders has created and, after reading this book, I honestly think Kate and Jack are my favorite characters! Settled into their lives, each thinking this will be a short term fling, they find themselves brought together and falling head over heels. Jack is the stuff all book boyfriends should be made of!
K.C. Enders has outdone herself with a moving story of love, heartache, and hope.
Kate, who we have seen in previous books, is not having any luck with guys she meets on dating apps. When she meets Jack the attraction is instantaneous, but she’s not so sure she should date him.
Jack only has a month before his next deployment and just wants to have some fun. He and Kate form a bond of sorts but then it’s time for him to go.
I connected with these characters and found myself so immersed in the story, I finished it in one day. Kate, especially, was sweet, funny, and relatable. Even though she and Jack only have a short time together when they first meet, it is easy to see their connection and how well they fit together.
There are a few events and characters from previous books that are referenced, but you can read this as a standalone.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
I love the residents of Beekman Hills, they feel like old friends.
This story of Kate and Jake made me laugh and sob like a baby. I loved every bit of it.
Kate is the kindergarten teacher everyone wants for their children. Jake is the guy next door who can be friends with anyone. Together they are quite the pair.
When things take an unexpected turn, we get to see just how strong Kate is. When there is devastating news, we get to see how strong Jake is.
Will these two overcome their obstacles and find their way to a happily ever after? Only time will tell.
I don’t know if there will be another book or not, but I do know I’m not ready to say goodbye to the residents of Beekman Hills or the crew of McBride’s Tavern.
From the very first book in this series, I’ve been obsessed with these characters. They are a family that I felt I became a part of from the first page of Troubles and because of that, this was a much more emotional read knowing it’s the end of the series.
Kate and Jack’s story could definitely be read as a standalone but Beekman Hills is such an amazing place that I think people need to read them all.
Every book in this series has been fantastic but there was just something a little extra in Tombstones that made it my favorite. Maybe it’s the fact that Kate is so strong, sweet, and sassy. Maybe it’s that Jack is swoon personified. I couldn’t put this book down but I never wanted it to end. Theirs was the perfect end to this series but I’m going to keep hoping this isn’t my last visit to Beekman Hills.
SPEECHLESS!! ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS!! K.C. Enders is a New Author for me and She Had me Intrigued from the Very Beginning of the Book!! Kate and Jack’s story was Beautifully Written and such a Rollercoaster ride of Emotional distress and Heartwreching Aches & pains!!
I was a Blubbering mess after finishing this book and it has all the feels you can ask for! I love how unexpected life goals can make you view life outside the box and change your way of thinking.
Definitely Must Read Book and never a Dull moment page after page!!
And Definitely looking out for more of K.C. Enders in the future!! You have another fan of your WORDS!! Thank you!!
Kate & Jack might be two of my favorite main characters this author has introduced me to. I like that they are grown and established in their careers, but still have their issues to bear.
Little Jake steals the show for me in this one, though, and I want to squeeze that little boy!
Kate teachers kindergarten and is having a series of bad dates a la dating apps. Jack is career military and just back for a brief stay between deployments. They meet (thanks Jake!) and despite everything, the sparks fly!
Saying there is an unplanned pregnancy isn’t a spoiler, but you will need to read to see how that all plays out. We really see how strong Kate is during all of this, and what an amazing support system she has.
As usual, Enders hits me with a gut punch I didn’t see coming and I’ll admit to the tears during that one. And despite the sad parts, this book contains its fair share of humor. Kate & Jack are an interesting pair and their banter will make you smile.
I loved this book absolutely. I am a huge fan of this author and this book did not change that. This book had everything I love in a book. Thank you for another crazy good book.
Kate had thought she had Mr Right , turns out he was Mr Wrong.Kate decides to just live for the moment & have a Mr Right now. Jack is looking for a bit of fun when he is home on leave. Both characters are complete opposites to what they want to have in life . Little do Kate & Jack know the tiny surprise they will encounter from the month of fun they had together. It was great catching up with the characters in Beckman Hills.
Note: I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
OH MY GOD! These were two freaking gorgeous and emotionally wonderfully built characters that I have met in the longest time of my life..and that could be saying something for the ones I don’t meet.
Kate and Wyatt had all the chemistry, emotional balance, and fight for each other..even though it was only a month of fun…but hey you know what they say…love can develop in the most unlikeliest of places ever. And boy did it ever.
I loved spending my time with these two, and yes I fell hook, line, sinker for them too. So many emotions were torn out of me….I don’t think I am getting them back anytime soon, but hey you know it was worth it.
So if you love “it was just fun” turned to actual romance plot of a novel with a perhaps surprise twist that no one is expecting -then this is your novel to read!
Until the next time,
-JB
