How exactly has one good deed landed me in the penalty box? Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn has come down with the flu, and my BFF–his PR manager–begs me to put my nursing degree to use and get him back to health. Of course she would call in a favor for the most hated man in Harbor City. But when he’s finally on the mend and I’m sneaking out of his place, everything goes sideways. … goes sideways. Paparazzi spot me and pictures, plus accusations that I slept with him, fly faster than a hockey puck.
At first, all of Harbor City wants my blood–or to give me a girlie-girl makeover. But then…the team finally wins a game. And now this fickle town wants me with the big jerk twenty-four seven.
Argh. I never slept with him the first time! But no one will listen. Then the grumpy bastard goes and promises to break his no-fan-appearances rule to help raise money for a free health clinic–but only if I’m rink-side at every game. That’s not a deal I can turn down.
But when the team keeps winning, and I realize there’s more to him than his bad reputation, suddenly remembering to keep my real hands off my fake date gets harder and harder to do.

This is a very good book.
5 stars for Tomboy by Avery Flynn !!!
This is the third book in the Hartigan Series and it is just as good as the first two . I love how Flynn takes a woman who society may not see as beautiful or perfect and shows us just how perfect she truly is or takes a man who everyone sees as good looking and having it all and shows us how truly wrong we are in our judgments. I love this about her books. In this book you have Fallon who is a tomboy at heart. She loves skateboarding, hockey and hates anything girlie. She is an ER nurse who is trying to help get a clinic up at running . She would do anything for her friends and thought is how she ends up helping the most hated man in hockey , Zach. Zach is a hockey player who just recently lost alot at the hands of the two people you should be able to trust with everything , his parents. Zach is puking and feels like death so he lets Fallon in , and not just into his house . Zach is the most hated man in hockey , they feel he is an overpaid , egotistical asshole , who doesn’t deserve to be on the ice anymore. No one except a few know what Zach is going through . He starts to have feelings for Fallon but doesn’t think he is good enough. Would she want him if she knew who he really was. Right after Fallon helps Zach he win a game, this has people calling her his lady luck . These two strike up a deal to help each other out. Fallon will be Zach’s lady luck and Zach will help Fallon raise funds for the clinic . This takes these two for a ride and soon feelings are involved . Can these two get past their own insecurities and realize they are just what each other need.
The thing I love most about Flynn’s books is that she shows us that everyone has insecurities no matter what is on the outside. She has a way of writing a story that makes you addicted to it. I didn’t put the book down from start to finish. I had to know what happened . I laughed , cried a little and even have excitement as if this was happening to me . To me as a reader that is what makes a story go from good to great and Flynn has a way of doing just that . I can not wait to read more of her work
Loved this laugh-out-loud romcon!
Good story about an independent woman.
We get to know another Hartigan family member, Fallon this time a lot lot more. If you have read The Hartigan books Muffin Top and Butter Face you will have gotten to know Fallon a wee bit. You do not have to have read the first two books to enjoy this book at all but why not.
Fallon is a nurse and her bestie ask her to check in on the resident bad boy of Ice Knights, while she and Frankie are out of town. Zach Blackburn is sicker than a dog and Fallon takes care of him and is spotted by the press. OH my this starts off a series of events that could be horrible for her. I mean he is the most hated man is Harbor City and for good reason too if you like hockey. Then things come out in the press and we know that everything we read or see in the media is always true right? Yea…
Oui this book touched on so many truths not only about appearances but about what we read and see if things are really true. I am so looking forward to more books from this author.
I love it

Three things deserves to be highlighted in Tomboy.
Fallon. A different protagonist from what I’m used to. It’s a compliment. She is confident and self-assured. She was the best of the book for me.
The moment certain characters suffered the consequences. I can’t say much without giving away spoilers, just know justice was made.
And the epilogue. One of the coolest I’ve ever read. Albeit epilogues are far from being my favorite part of a book, this is exceptional.
So if you like strong female characters, can’t stand injustice and adore epilogues (or don’t adore, like me, but are not opposed to them), maybe Tomboy is a good reading option.
Thank you for generously providing me this ARC in exchange of a honest review.

Três coisas merecem destaque em Tomboy.
A Fallon.

Tomboy is the third book in The Hartigan’s series. Fallon Hartigan is a tough no nonsense nurse. Her friend Lucy asks her to take care of one of her PR clients, Hockey player Zach Blackburn, who is suffering from a bad case of food poisoning. Zach is the most hated man on his hockey team, the Ice Knights. He is unwilling to let anyone get close, and is cranky as heck. But there is a real reason for his surliness, betrayal by his parents and former managers. He hasn’t been playing well, but after the press releases pictures of Fallon leaving his house and the team wins, she is labeled Lady Luck. Of course, he has to convince Fallon to continue to show up to games to keep up the winning streak. I loved both characters, especially Zach. I think that this was my favorite book in the series so far.
Hot, sexy and fun. Love the Hartigans.
I just can’t get enough of the Hartigans! This book is a standalone and can be enjoyed just as it is, BUT I suggest reading the previous books so you can get to know the family and their dynamic.
I hate to say it but this book has become my favorite out of the three. Fallon is just so likable and real. She has amazing compassion and goals. Zach is a gruff hockey player who is having a lousy season because of a losing streak. When these two are are forced together the sparks fly. When they make a bargain things get serious.
I loved loved loved this book. It had great characters and a wonderful plot. Zach and Fallon were sexy, strong willed, and I just felt like I had a stake in their coming together. I definitely recommend this book!
The third installment of the Hartigans series was a pure delight to read and it book-cased this series brilliantly!
Great humor and comedic timing, along with the charming characters of this series, brought the story of ER nurse and all around sports loving tough gal, Fallon Hartigan to life.
But this do-gooder wasn’t thrilled when her friend called in a favor, putting Fallon into direct contact with the city’s most hated hockey player, Zach Blackburn, and neither was he.
With mutual contempt for one another it was a surprise to all when suddenly Fallon was seen as Zach’s new good luck charm and maybe the very one to change his poor image around the city.
With sizzling tension between these two characters that neither wanted to acknowledge, this story made for one fun read! Whether you have read the previous books in this series or not, I know that you will fall head over heels for the very relatable Fallon and her story.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Sexy, sassy, funny and hot! – Fantastic read!
Fallon in this book is what I expected her to be when I was reading the first two books in the series. She’s strong, sassy, independent and protective of people she love. She will do everything for her friends and family but also has big heart for the people in need in general.
Zach who has trust issues isolated himself from the people around him. Trying to keep his pride intact is very closed off and has put a mask on so that his true self is deeply covered.
I enjoyed reading this book a lot and I devoured it in one sitting. Story line has all the feels and because of the fantastic writing I was able to picture every single scene in the book and easily connect to the characters and feel what they felt. They stole my heart from the beginning even Zach or maybe especially him…
Chemistry and sexual tension between them is almost palpable. Their banter is funny, sassy and I just couldn’t stop smiling reading their lines. There’s also more to their relationship beside hot lustful connection. Unexpected turn in events put their relationship in question. It is not easy to trust someone when we were betrayed before. Will those two stubborn people be able to box their pride and put it away? Are they ready to admit their relationship is worth fighting for and act on it?
5 There’s a Heart Lurking Under that Gruff Exterior Stars!!!
I can honestly say that this is my favorite book in this series. I really connected with Fallon. She’s the no-nonsense sister in the Hartigan family and when she does her bestie a favor by checking on the Ice Knights, supposed to be best defenseman around, Zach Blackburn, she gets so much more than she signed on for!!!
For his part Zach wasn’t crazy about Fallon being there, but he knew if he kicked her out there’d be some serious trouble for him… and so begins this enemies to lovers story that I absolutely LOVED!!!!
These two together had me cracking up at times because Fallon doesn’t put up with anything. She’s very serious about her career as a nurse and has such a passion for the clinic that serves the less fortunate in her town….but low and behold, she’s apparently a good luck charm for Zach which he hates, but the town loves so what’s he got to do to convince her to come to each and every game…well, she has her own demands!
There were moments while reading that I actually had some heartache for both our H/h. There’s some issues in his background that could have destroyed a lesser man, but Zach isn’t going to let it keep him from his dream of being an all-star hockey player. I loved how these two grew closer and closer as the book progressed and their chemistry is sizzling!!!
But it’s not all smooth sailing for them and there’s a critical moment that really is the defining moment for them and if they’re love can survive. I was glued to my kindle that’s for sure!!!
This is absolutely a must read book and I’m ready for the next Hartigan to hit my kindle!!!
I am totally in love with this sweet and funny enemies-to-lovers romance. Zach was a grumpy teddy bear and Fallon had a huge heart. I adored their witty banter and comical exchanges. It was the sweetest thing to see Zach slowly softened towards Fallon. I’m in loved with the crazy Hartigan family and the hotties of the Ice Knights hockey team. I cannot wait to see what the next Hartigan sibling is up to and I’m excited that we get more of the hotties of the Ice Knights.
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Fallon isn’t very thrilled when the favor her friend Lucy asks of her is to go take care of Zach Blackburn, defenseman of the Ice Knights pro hockey team, the most hated man in Harbor City. And when she investigates and finds that he was given food poisoning by a woman he slept with who has a rival team’s, Cajun Rage, tattoo? Yeah she’s really not thrilled. And she can just tell that he’s not going to be any more likable than she had thought. And so after a weekend of her caring for his ungrateful ass, Lucy walks away.
But Zach’s different after. He plays amazingly and he gets it into his head that Lucy’s his good luck charm. Will she go for the proposition he has for her? To come to his games so he can soak up her good luck vibes? What about when she negotiates him into volunteering at the clinic with her? As the two start to get to know each other, somehow the sparks neither wanted, ignite, and Zach starts showing Lucy he’s not such a bad guy, even if he has a secret he’s desperately embarrassed about, one that he doesn’t want anyone to know about.
I absolutely loved Tomboy!! It’s by far my favorite of the Hartigans series and Zach and Lucy are by far my favorite couple in the series. They’re perfect together with the kind of chemistry you can only dream of having with your significant other. Lucy may be a tomboy, but she’s the perfect heroine – smart, sweet, strong and has the hugest heart. So it’s only fitting that Avery Flynn gave her the perfect hero to complement her. Zach is growly and defensive but he’s got a heart as big as Lucy’s, and he loves hard. Tomboy is the very best kind of romantic comedy – funny, witty but sweet, and sexy with a whole cast of A+ characters whose hearts are lovable as their gorgeous outer selves.
I really enjoyed this book and this sexy and sweet story. I look forward to more books in this series. I definitely recommend this author, this series and this book.
5 Blackburn-ed stars.
Tomboy is the latest offering in ‘The Hartigans’ series by Avery Flynn. It was a fabulous story that delved deep into the heart of one NHL player, star forward, Zach Blackburn and the strongest-willed Hartigan offspring, Fallon.
Fallon is as straight-talking as they come, her ‘take no prisoners’ attitude rubs Zach the wrong way… at first, but it’s not long before he’s seeing her in a different light. She a fresh light in his dismal, doom-laden mind. He’s got a past that he can’t shake and it’s turned the game he loved into a chore, something that shows when he plays. He’s not known as the most hated player in Harbor City for nothing.
So, when Fallon’s best friend, Lucy asks her to be Zack’s nurse for the weekend, she’s less than interested, but she’s a caring soul and can’t say no to her bestie’s heartfelt pleas.
Zack and Fallon are like oil and water, they shouldn’t mix but somehow they do.
This was a fun, slightly angsty story, with plenty of feels. Seeing Fallon break through Zack’s walls, even when she’s not meaning to, was enlightening but also heart-breaking.
Zack is broody, dark and at times mysterious but he’s darned hot too, so hot that Fallon just can’t resist him and is soon his lucky charm.
This was the best of the three books out so far, it’s a standalone too, so you don’t have to read Butterface or Muffin Top first, but you should anyway because they are that good. Looking forward to the next in the series that keeps me wanting more.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Fallon is a ER nurse who also spends her free time working at a free clinic. She is feisty and opinionated hiding a heart of gold. Zach is the most hated hockey player in town. He is mostly misunderstood and trying to overcome the betrayal of his parents.
Zach and Fallon’s relationship is a crazy journey but they are wonderful together. Both always trying to protect others.
Tomboy is the third, standalone book in Avery Flynn’s fantastic The Hartigans series, and it’s a delicious blend of light-hearted humor, subtle social observation, feel-good entertainment and seriously sexy romance. It’s an enemies-to-lovers tale in which a feisty, independent nurse charms the grumpy bad boy of professional hockey, surprising them both. Like many of Flynn’s heroines, Fallon is confident and comfortable in her own skin, and she doesn’t always try to conform to some of society’s standards. And although they bicker and begin their relationship rolling their eyes at one another, Zach never has a moment of wanting Fallon to be different than who she is. Their banter is fiery, their chemistry sizzles, and their fall into love will make you smile. I can’t recommend Tomboy enough.

Glitz & glam does not make the woman.
For those of us who forgo the routine of makeup and dedicated hair routines often get pigeonholed into categories that hide the true beauty from the world. I see part of myself in Fallon as well as one of my best friends. Due to labels, we often build walls up around ourselves to protect ourselves. Fallon gives of herself and fights for those who won’t or can’t but she doesn’t take for herself. This is the exactly as one of my besties so to say this book is relatable is an understatement. It is a realistic look into so many women regardless of age.
Taking a look at the hottie Zach, we see many men. Taking away his profession, I am sure everyone can name at least one man that puts up a big attitude/wall to hold people at bay. He doesn’t want his soft side because he has been hurt and is afraid to walk down that road again. The hurt doesn’t always have to be in the romance dept. Knowing a man with this mindset, makes Zach relatable as well and being so a breath of fresh air.
The book opens with a scene that only a handful, if not just Avery Flynn, can make funny. Then later we see the Hartigan family, specifically Kate’s humor show us what Avery Flynn can do in describing a scene. It is more than just words strung together to make sentence. It places you there in the room, brings vivid memories and brings a smile, chuckle and full belly laughs.
Overall, one can’t go wrong with buying this book. The big take away for me, even though I can’t get over my flaws when looking in the mirror, we are shown in a realistic view of two characters that the outside covering and what we see as shortcomings are not even on the radar of the “perfect” one for you.
