How exactly has one good deed landed me in the penalty box? Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn has come down with the flu, and my BFF–his PR manager–begs me to put my nursing degree to use and get him back to health. Of course she would call in a favor for the most hated man in Harbor City. But when he’s finally on the mend and I’m sneaking out of his place, everything goes sideways. … goes sideways. Paparazzi spot me and pictures, plus accusations that I slept with him, fly faster than a hockey puck.
At first, all of Harbor City wants my blood–or to give me a girlie-girl makeover. But then…the team finally wins a game. And now this fickle town wants me with the big jerk twenty-four seven.
Argh. I never slept with him the first time! But no one will listen. Then the grumpy bastard goes and promises to break his no-fan-appearances rule to help raise money for a free health clinic–but only if I’m rink-side at every game. That’s not a deal I can turn down.
But when the team keeps winning, and I realize there’s more to him than his bad reputation, suddenly remembering to keep my real hands off my fake date gets harder and harder to do.
Each book in the Hartigans series is STANDALONE:
* Butterface
* Muffin Top
* Tomboy

Tomboy is an above-average romance with very likeable characters. However, any writer who chooses to center a plot around a sport should run it past a die-hard fan. With this book, such a fan would have pointed out that most of the action was generic – “threw his body in front of the empty net” – while some numbers were out and out inaccurate. No goalie, for instance, would ever face more than 60 shots in a regular game. That sort of number is only reached in a playoff game with a couple of overtime periods.
Funny ….cute
A fun story but beware the strong language.
This was exactly what I needed in the moment! I was originally drawn in by the cover because it’s just so great and it absolutely lived up to my expectations.
It was snarky and steamy and heartbreaking and chaotic and real and I appreciated so much of it. Zach is a great blend of that standoffish dude and a warm, caring guy with a huge heart. And Fallon is everything I love seeing in books! It was refreshing to read Avery Flynn’s take on a tomboy. I just enjoyed this 100%.
I’ll be recommending this to everyone, honestly.
When I started this book I just wanted to finish it in one sitting
A fun, fun read with thoroughly lovable characters!
This book was a fun, easy read. The lead female character was so different than the average heroine in these novels which made her uniquely wonderful and refreshingly unique. I had so much fun reading this book that I stayed up too late too many nights, but it was worth it. I had trouble putting it down when a new chapter started even though I knew I needed to go to sleep. 🙂
I enjoyed the book.
A great read with plenty of snark, steam, and emotion.
I really enjoyed this book is funny and realistic.
I really liked Fallon. She has a take no prisoners attitude and Zack is all attitude. It was a great dynamic between them. I really enjoyed the book and all the characters in it.
Must read series.
Was a great read for a rainy day.
Characters mildly interesting. Predictable story.
Opposites really do attract! Very strong characters who remained true to who they were while discovering the best part of themselves. Really easy read!
Poorly written. Extremely vulgar. Will not read a book by this author again

I loved Fallon and Zach. They were both so guarded and sarcastic that they couldn’t help but fall in love with each other. Another 5 star by the amazing Avery Flynn!
I loved the back and forth between the main characters in this book. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for some real, down-to-earth characters with a little humor and some romance sprinkled in.
A fun read
I liked the story: A woman not concerned with looks, but people and a man who was a paycheck to his parents. However, neither had much of a vocabulary. Basically, every paragraph in the book contained “f—–” in some way or another.
