This electrifying thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling series has President Jack Ryan and his allies facing a treacherous foe threatening to unleash chaos around the globe…When Russian President Valeri Volodin’s ambitions are foiled in Dagestan, he faces a difficult choice. The oligarchs who support him expect a constant flow of graft, but with energy prices cratering, the Russian … cratering, the Russian economy sputters to a virtual halt. Unable to grow the Russian market at home, his hold on power relies on expansion abroad—a plan that has been thwarted by the United States in the past.
But this time Volodin has determined that an indirect approach is the best. A floating natural gas facility in Lithuania is blown up. A Venezuelan prosecutor is assassinated. A devastating attack on a Russian troop train kills dozens. A chaotic world is the best camouflage for a series of seemingly unrelated attacks.
Only one man recognizes an ominous pattern in the reports of terror from around the globe. U.S. President Jack Ryan sees a guiding hand in the worldwide chaos, but before he can act he needs proof.
While his intelligence agencies race to uncover the truth behind the attacks, the President struggles to unite a fractious and distrustful coalition of Western nations against the schemes of the Russian dictator.
With five thousand Russian troops poised to invade a NATO nation, can Jack Ryan move swiftly enough to stop Volodin’s grand plan of global conflict and conquest? Or will he succeed in changing the balance of world power forever?

I’ve kind of lost track of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan stories as after Tom Clancy passed away, I was not interested in someone else writing his books. However, a copy of Commander in Chief fell into my hands and just because, I read it.
I loved it. It was the same fast-paced, military-technological-political story I’ve always loved the Jack Ryan series for. The characters were the familiar ones, albeit older now, just like me. I’ll have to pick up another one. Thank you, Mark Greaney.
I love all of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan books. This book proves that Mark Greaney can hold his own against Clancy’s other books. I hope he can continue the legacy.
This book has a good mix of intrigue, warfare, while the storyline seems to evoke current events. I found myself comparing the fictional Russian leader to Putin.
This is a good read.
Had Mark Greaney not co-authored previous Tom Clancy books, I possibly would not have purchased the book. But, Greaney does a superb job of carrying on the Jack Ryan Sr. series. I was spellbound by “Commander in Chief” and finished the book in less than a week. At over 700 pages, I consider that a book I could not put down. The book centers on Jack Ryan Sr, who is serving his 2nd term as POTUS. Russian President Volodin has concocted some nefarious plans for maintaining his power over the nation. The political intrigue and breakneck pace at which the story unfolds will keep you reading well into the night.
Well written, author was a good word smith. The Tom Clancy book are always great reads.
All Clancy novels are very good, no matter who writes them. Mark Greaney does an excellent job. You would not know Clancy didn’t write it.
favorite author
Among the best Tom Clancy ever written.
Makes you wish you had a political class that had a spine.Hopefully President Trump will
be closer to President Ryan than Obama.
A great read
Typical Tom Clancy – very easy to get into and want to see what was going to happen next. Plenty of battle action.
Lots of twists and turns.
Read them as fast as they are available
Great depth of knowledge by authors of the special ops milieu. Great action.
Typical Clancy adventure following the Ryans father and son during a realistic crisis involving an oportunistic Russian leader trying to expand into the Baltic. Throw in John Clark taking on kidnappers in the Caribbean and it makes for a fine addition to the legacy of this franchise.
Ok read, not as good as a true Clancy novel.
not as good as tom clancy but still a good read.
Classic Clancy. Always a great read. Nobody does it better.
Good book, Clancy-ish but not Clancy. 80% there. Gets a bit too descriptive but the characters are great and the plot is also. Just a few bumps in the story when the Clancy novel becomes a bit In-Clancy, but a good read nevertheless.
Good read. Well written with plenty of action.
Excellent. I couldn’t put it down, and I read well into the night. Thrilling.
