What if with every person you met, after just one touch, you have a vision of the last time you’ll see each other? Ever. Normally, these visions are innocent–two friends just drifting apart, a random stranger that brushed past you then never crossed your path again. But not today. When I accidentally touch him, within only moments of our first meeting, I’m bombarded by visions of his death. … bombarded by visions of his death.
And from what I can see, I’m the reason he dies.
Now I just need to figure out why, and how to stop this from happening. Because not only am I to blame, but his very last words to me are…I love you.

This book swept me off of my feet. I thought it was such a unique story, and I couldn’t put it down. I felt on edge almost the entire time reading this book, and I am so glad I decided to pick it up. It’s an excellent YA Mystery that even could branch into Thriller a bit. It was wonderful. I am ecstatic to read more by Frydman.
Quinn has a talent, or a curse as she calls it – when she touches someone, even the briefest brush, she sees a vision of the last time they will see each other. This might be completely innocent, but things change when she meets Griffin. What she sees is death.

To Whatever End is a nice blend of whodunit, a touch of mysterious “power”, and YA. While it has some high school-level romance involved, it’s not a main thing. Overall, I will give this one a 3.5 – I thoroughly enjoyed it but it wasn’t particularly inventive. There were some twists and turns I didn’t expect while others seemed quite obvious. Pleasant and quick, but not a hold-the-phone-while-I-tell-the-world kind of book.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I enjoyed this book. It had some romance, a unique plot, and great characters. The plot itself was paced well and held my attention throughout. I really liked the premise and was happy when it followed through and proved to be a fun and interesting read. Quinn was a great MC who had “seer” abilities and the story of her discovering how to save Griffin from the fate she saw when she touched him. However, at some points the whole “I can’t touch you” thing got tiresome and seemed really dramatic. Yet, the romance was sweet and added to this story even though it wasn’t the main focus of it. There was a bit of danger which gave it a different vibe along with the romance and fantasy. I really liked the way this story combined different genres. It was refreshing and it had character. My only criticism as that sometimes the writing didn’t flow as well and some things seemed overdone; however, these didn’t overly detract form this story. I would recommend this to anyone who likes fantasy with more thriller and romance vibes as well.
I 1,000% LOVED this book from chapter #1! I loved each and every character and personality. Each scene was descriptive and well plotted. This is a fast paced read that had my attention GLUED to the story line!
**A very special thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the { #GIFTED } copy of this book to read and review!
*I received this book from YA Bound Tours for my honest review*
I couldn’t put down this book! I read it all in one sitting as it was suspenseful, touching, and romantic. I really liked the main character Quinn as she is dealing with a curse that she isn’t allowed to talk about—seeing how a relationship will end. When she touches a person, she knows what kind of heartbreak is going to ensue, but she couldn’t imagine that it was because the boy she wanted to date was going to die.
From the first chapter, you wonder what she is going to do to try and save him, and you wondered if she was or if this was going to end sadly. I won’t spoil the ending, of course, but this entire book is definitely a read I will be recommending to those who like suspense. All the characters were interesting, and I really liked Griffin (the boy she has to save). I have been watching too much Avatar: The Last Airbender and totally just imagined him as Zuko the entire time, and that is what voice I heard in my head. Not complaining, just thought it was funny.
The only problems I had (and a problem I have while writing as well) is that there wasn’t very little interaction with other people that were supporting members or main characters. It seemed a little unrealistic or that there wasn’t anyone else in the town. There were instances where there should have been more people but it seemed silent. The other problem I had was there were some things that weren’t clarified and answered very well, but I don’t want to spoil what those were. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and will be checking out the author’s other novels!
I enjoyed this one. The description of this book really appealed to me from the start so I thought it would be worth a try. I was really curious about how the ability to see when your relationship with someone would end would play out in a story, and I think that it worked pretty well. This was a really quick read, and I found it to be quite enjoyable.
When Quinn touches someone for the first time, she sees how that relationship will end. She knows if it will be a long term relationship or if it will end quickly. I thought that this was a really interesting ability and it made sense that it would have a big impact on Quinn’s life. Do you go out on a date with someone you know will break your heart? Unfortunately, even though she knows what is going to happen, she can’t do anything to stop it.
Quinn meets Griffin at an art gallery. They are both there to find inspiration: Quinn for her photography and Griffin for his music. When she touches him, she sees that he will die soon while telling her that he loves her. As fate would have it, she soon learns that he lives in the same apartment complex as she lives with her grandmother. They are drawn to each other and love spending time with each other but Quinn is afraid that she might be the cause of his upcoming death.
I liked the characters in this book. Quinn had been through a lot in her life and her special abilities have not made things any easier for her. Griffin has had his own challenges and is trying to start fresh on his own in a different state. It really seemed like these two needed each other and I thought that they were good together. Quinn’s friend Olivia was a good source of support for her and her new boyfriend, Jack, seemed like a good guy as well.
I do wish that we would have had the chance to see Quinn have to deal with her powers more often in this book. I only remember it happening twice in the story and I think it would have made the story more interesting if it came up more often. I didn’t find the mystery to be too hard to figure out but I was still eager to see how things played out. There were a couple of times in the story when things felt a little too convenient but nothing that I couldn’t look past.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a fun story with an imaginative premise. I wouldn’t hesitate to read more of this author’s work in the future.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Entangled: Teen via NetGalley.
While sold as a fantasy, this one slides more into the paranormal category and that with only a slight tip-toe over the ‘paranormal’ line. But young adult romance fans, who enjoy a dash of thriller/mystery tension, will enjoy this one quite a bit.
Quinn carries a several generation old curse, which allows her to snap a vision of the last time she’ll see someone when she touches them. This has completely ruined her dating life, since she seen every break-up before it happens. Every attempt to change the results has been fruitless, but when she touches a ‘hot’ guy at the museum and sees him bleeding out in front of her with a gunshot wound to the gut, three words turn her world upside down—I love you.
If I would review this one as a fantasy (as it’s sold), I’d have to mark it down a star just for not meeting that mark. But as a romance with a bit of tension, it’s an engaging read. Quinn has a curse (as her family calls it), which hits one female of every generation a little differently. Her version has her seeing the last seconds she meets with someone, when she touches them. While this aspect alone could open up all sorts of plot directions, the author chops it off before it has a chance to bloom. As the reader, we only see the curse’s vision the first time Quinn touches the hero of this tale. There’s also basically no background given as to the origin of the curse or any other information surrounding it. Honestly, I found it disappointing that the only thing which seemed to interest Quinn was its hit on her dating life. But shove that all aside, view it as the beginning point to a romance (and not a fantasy), and the rest works more than well enough to create an intriguing read.
Quinn is a kind hearted young woman, who is easy to root for since she finally has a shot at love…something she thought was beyond her reach. Her hopes are more than understandable, and she’s got the hero to slide right along into every emotional scene. He’s sweet, a little dorky-ish, packs secrets, and makes her heart race the second he nears her. It’s a bit of love at first site, but thanks to Quinn’s concerns about seeing his approaching, violent death, even that works well.
The mystery end carries enough thrills to make each page interesting. It wasn’t hard to figure out where the whole thing was going, but that didn’t make it any less fun to read. I would have liked to have seen a bit more depth from the other characters… and maybe, more characters , since that would have opened the pool of ‘who dun-it’s quite a bit, but so, it was a very enjoyable read.
I received an ARC.
Most days it’s a curse, but somedays it’s kind of a blessing in disguise, Quinn has the ability to determine the future with one single touch. She can reach out a hand and instantly know how her relationship with that particular person will continue or ultimately end… and most of the time it’s good. But this time it’s not, it’s anything but really. Griffin comes along, there’s an innocent touch, and suddenly there is a dark dooming cloud hanging over them. And Quinn knows the outcome, and it’s not a good one!
To Whatever End is an inventive and suspenseful young adult tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Quinn’s ability has lead her down a path that she isn’t so sure she wants to continue to experience, because after all, she already knows the outcome and it’s not ideal. It’s disturbing to know the person she just met and could absolutely fall for dies in her arms in the near future. So she decides to play with fate a bit and try and keep Griffin at bay, but fate winds up getting the upper hand as always.
This book was quite captivating, once I met Quinn and Griffin I had to know how things would go for them. Page after page they pulled me deeper into their world and took me on one heck of a thrilling and enthralling journey! If you like suspenseful tales with a bit of magic mixed in then I have a feeling this one will easily win you over, it’s well penned words are bound to satisfy!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
To Whatever End by Lindsey Frydman a thought-provoking four-star read. In some ways this was easily a five-star read, the premise and the story, but there was something amiss. Quinn was a compelling character and watching her unfold, and grow was a joy to read. Watching her deal with the curse and be brave enough not to just hide and ignore it like many people much more mature than her would. What would you do for someone who loves you, but whom you don’t even know.

I had trouble getting into this book. Wasn’t a fan of the flow or the writing. Just wasn’t for me.
The uniqueness of the is book’s plot really attracted me to the story. I love the idea of a lady who cannot touch another without consequences and the fact that there is a bit of magic really pulled me into the story.
The author does an amazing job of creating a solid main character in Quinn. I really enjoyed getting to know her, follow her along in her journey and to discover life right along with her. I liked that the author took the time to develop the relationships as well. The instant love was nice, and I really liked the dynamics between Quinn and Griffin. I think he was a wonderful addition to this story.
What I would have liked more of is the actual curse and consequences. I felt this story as a whole is more about Quinn and her life choices rather then the supernatural aspects. I wanted more in the ending, not a different ending but more details. We (Quinn and I, LOL) worked so hard for it to be as “rushed” as it felt. I received an ARC via NetGalley and Entangled Publishing and I am leaving my honest review.
Quinn’s ability made her play it safe for most of her life. Finally she meets someone she is willing to risk everything for. This makes her look more into her gift and the possibilities it holds. While the story was predictable it was a good read. Story was steady paced.
I loved the premise of this! The curse of visions was very neat, and not something I think I’ve read before. Unfortunately, I found quite a bit pretty predictable about the rest of the plot, and I just didn’t get the romance – it felt very instalove and that’s not really my thing. I would definitely try another book from this author, and recommend picking it up if you’re feeling a YA romance with a bit of a fantastical twist to it.
