“New York Times “bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries delights readers with the fourth Regency romance in her sexy Hellions of Halstead Hall series, featuring the dark and dangerous Lord Gabriel Sharpe. To fulfill his grandmother’s ultimatum, Lord Gabriel Sharpe pursues a spitfire he believes desperately needs him. Then the tables are turned… Like everything daredevil Gabe Sharpe does, wooing … does, wooing Virginia Waverly is a high-stakes game. Ever since her brother, Roger, died racing Lord Gabriel, Virginia has yearned to take her revenge on the reckless lord by beating him at his own sport. But when she challenges Lord Gabriel to a race, the hellion called the “Angel of Death” counters with a marriage proposal Gabe knows Virginia is in dire financial straits–so why not marry her and solve both of their problems? She claims to be appalled by his proposal, but her response to his kisses says otherwise. And when the two of them begin to unravel the truth behind Roger’s death, Gabe takes the greatest gamble of all, offering the courageous beauty something more precious than any inheritance: true love.

** 4.5 stars **
Gabriel Sharpe is the least known Sharpe sibling. He is temperamental, a bit wild and a lot reckless or so he wishes everyone to believe. In the course of the book I got to see the Gabe everyone takes at face value and the Gabe that he truly is. I think the whole mess with that wretched race that brought pain and suffering to everyone only made Gabe more reckless than before. And people who didn’t know any better made it even worse with wrong opinions and accusations based on feelings rather than facts. It’s you, Poppy, I am talking about. You annoyed the ever living daylights out of me! I liked the man Gabe became when the book ended, when the entire matter was put to rest.
Virginia Waverly would have been a perfect MC in my opinion if she didn’t follow her grandfather’s feelings and continued to hate Gabe without knowing all the facts. She assumed a lot and at times I didn’t like how easy it was for her to do it. But at the same time she was strong willed, determined and a romantic at heart. She reminded me of Minerva a little bit.
The story was steadily paced just like the others and was centered around horses, farms and hard work that it all requires. I like that every Sharpe sibling has their own sort of area of expertise that they are good at, in this instance, Gabe’s knowledge and passion for horses. I also liked that this book was a bit angstier than the previous stories. Gabe suffered a lot more than his siblings not only from loss of their parents but also his best friend, and also not being able to find peace and his place in the world. Some paragraphs made me catch my breath a time or two. That was good. Enjoyable and vastly entertaining story.

Sabrina Jeffries is one of my auto-reads. I absolutely love her writing and I’ve totally been enjoying her Hellions of Halstead Hall series. There are 5 siblings whose grandmother has decided that they all need to be married or she’s going to write them out of her will. Each of them tries to avoid matrimony and even tries to make deals with grandma, but seeing as we’re reading romance novels, we know it’s going to end in happily ever after. In addition, there is another sub plot of trying to uncover the truth behind their parents’ deaths.
To Wed a Wild Lord is the fourth book in the series. Gabriel Sharpe’s best friend, Roger, died in a racing accident and now Roger’s sister, Virginia, is blaming Gabriel for his death and wants revenge. Gabriel’s been living a wild life because he’s been feeling guilty. They meet when Virgina challenges Gabe to a race, but he counters with a courtship. I enjoyed watching Gabe and Virginia butt heads and get over their individual guilt as they got to know each other and eventually fall in love.
All the major players from the series make welcome appearances in this story as the over-arcing plots continue to advance. The stories have kept me intrigued… especially when it comes to the mystery of the Sharpe’s parents. In fact, I can’t wait for the release of the final book so that the mystery will finally be solved.

Such a good book. Such a great author! I love everything she writes!
This entire series is fantastic, but this one happened to be the first I read in the series so it’s near & dear to my heart. She writes vivacious characters and the chemistry between them keeps you turning page after page after page.
