I love the way that these two get together. It is absolutely a wonderfully meet-cute and Lana is an absolute doll for how she handles some of the things that come afterward. I’m not sure I could be as forgiving as she is once she finds out who he really is and that he keeps it a secret for a while. I understand why but … and when he has that REALLY big idiot moment … yeah, she’s a doll.
Isley knows how to craft an entertaining story full of characters that readers can get behind. Lana may be clueless about all things Hollywood but she’s pretty good at Christian. It’s a bit of a struggle, coming from two different worlds, but eventually (of course) they figure things out.
Christian also (besides those idiot moments) has moments when he proves just how out of touch with the regular world he is. But I appreciate that he likes Lana enough to try and he’s got a great support system that likes the real guy, not just what he can do for them. Although I think they could have maybe tried a little harder to keep him from being SUPER idiotic
There’s drama – how can there not be in a world like his – but it’s not too far out there and Isley does a good job of bringing it back to center when it’s time. Fun, funny, and with characters hard not to like, Isley once again delivers an addictive page turner.
(Part of a series but can stand on its own very, very easily. A few short cameos, and maybe a bit of a feel of Christian, from previous books is about it.)

To the Stars and Back (First Comes Love #4) was a great read by Camilla Isley. Christian Slade is America’s favorite heartthrob. But off screen, women seem to only want a piece of his glamorous life, instead of his heart. Lana is a beautiful rocket scientist who has no idea who he is. I really enjoyed reading Christian and Lana’s story and can’t wait to read more by the author.
I received this audio book from the author through Story Origin in the hopes that I would write a review. Here is my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Christian is my kind of guy. Such an unlikely couple, but he falls for Lana so hard. I was reminded how tough celebrities have it trying to have normal lives. Funny. Emotional. Friendship. Caring. Steam.
The narrator was excellent! She performed both POV’s to perfection. She brought the humor and the emotions out of the text and into the story. All very entertaining.
To the Stars and Back is the 4th book in Camilla Isley’s First Comes Love series. As this was my first experience with Isley’s work, I haven’t listened to the other books in the series. I don’t think it impacted my enjoyment at all. This was a delightfully low-angst, opposites-attract love story. Perfect if you’re in the mood for a closed door romance.
Christian Slade is thrilled to find perhaps the only woman on the planet who hasn’t heard of him. However, Lana’s ignorance to what it means to be a famous movie star may be precisely what dooms their relationship. I loved that while this is obviously fiction, Isley’s portrayal of what it’s probably like to have these two worlds clash made this entirely relatable. Christian is sometimes oblivious to a world he’s now been entrenched in for much of his life and Lana is shocked to be exposed to all his fame and fortune.
I also enjoyed that while there were bumps in the road for this sweet couple, things weren’t needlessly dragged out and the angst remained pretty light. Christian and Lana get their adorable HEA and Isley even provides the perfect epilogue for these star-struck lovers.
I’ll be adding the rest of the series to my TBL.
I absolutely chose this book because it was narrated by Amy McFadden. She continues to be one of my favorites and doesn’t disappoint here. She’s great at giving all the characters unique voices and keeping them consistent throughout the story. I also really enjoyed that she performed the chapters from Christian’s POV in his British accent and lower register. It gives the audio an added depth and clarity of perspective.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from Story Origin and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Fun. Worth the time
Fun easy romcom.
Well drawn characters, “cute” meet up, entertaining plots twists, humor, and a HEA. Good read!
As a female engineer (and romance reader and writer) I’m happy to say that this book does a much better job with a heroine in a technical field than most. Our H is a charming hottie, there’s fun dialogue and just enough sexy times.I enjoyed it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thought it was a fun, charming and exciting read. It was a lovely story that whisked me away into magical meet-cutes and Hollywood fairytales.
Straight off the bat I loved Christian Slade. I thought he was charming and an absolute sweetheart. He made me laugh with his matter of fact ways and how he handled his fame sometimes. There are moments when you’d think he should be coming across obnoxious like when he white-lies when trying to live a normal life and does crazy things to try and keep his identity under wraps (like swapping his Ferrari for a Tesla) but honestly he just comes across endearing and funny. I smiled and giggled so much and loved his banter with his personal assistant and how she just accepted his ways. There really was just something so sweet and lovely about him that I enjoyed. He worked hard for his money, loved acting and wasn’t just in it to be famous and I thought that was very cool.
Lana I thought was awesome too. I envied her smarts and thoroughly loved reading about her job as a scientist. She had such a down to earth sweet nature, but I loved that Christian bought her to life, made her have fun and step out of her comfort zone a little bit, while still remaining true to who she was.
I very much enjoyed that Christian and Lana were with each other through the good and bad. They accepted each other for who they were and I liked that they both owned up to their mistakes and didn’t just blame each other. They fought for each other and worked on making their different lifestyles fit together which was beautiful too. Their banter and adventure was so much fun to be a part of.
There’s a delightful element of glitz and glamour mixed in with the coziness of settling down and living a more peaceful life which makes ‘To the Stars and Back’ such a wonderful read. I highly recommend you pick up a copy today!
Starstrucking reads, in all senses…
To the Stars and Back was a fabulous, sweet and funny read.
Camilla Isley is one of my favourite authors, I always know I am going to love her every word.
Christian,a famous Holywood actor, meets Lana, a beautiful girl who doesn’t know who he is, in a hotel storage room and they instantly clicked. They aren’t ready to face the world and they find comfort in the each other company.
Our main characters couldn’t be more different,a movie star and a rocket scientist,it would never work but on the contrary their relationship easily develops from acquaintances to something more and I really enjoyed to follow their journey.
Thoroughly recommend to read this story.
Cute, sweet, and fun!
To the Stars and Back is a quick, light, flirty tale featuring the sensible, clever Lana and the handsome, successful Christian as they navigate a relationship that includes a storage room meet-cute, careers that are worlds apart, instant attraction, romantic moments, and undeniable chemistry.
The writing is sharp and smooth. The characters are quirky, charismatic, and endearing. And the plot is a delightful blend of drama, emotion, snappy dialogue, fame, fortune, stardom, tender moments, friendship, and love.
Overall, To the Stars and Back is a warm, witty, charming tale by Isley. And even though it is the fourth title in the First Comes Love series it can easily be enjoyed and appreciated as a standalone novel.
Favorite Quotes:
“Two adults booking a room at the Peninsula? They’re not here to play Scrabble,” she hisses.
“I’m trying to find a silver lining,” Winter says. “If breaking up with Jonathan isn’t giving you the slightest chest pain, perhaps it isn’t all bad you broke up. I mean, he and my sister are two cockroaches who deserve to burn in hell forever, but maybe it was about time you took your relationship with John behind the barn and shot it.”
My Review:
This was a fun and appealing read that was smartly written and I can boast it was also informative as well since the main character was a rocket scientist who taught me the little known fact that there is a scientific unit of measurement called a slug, which weighs 32.2 pounds. And my mother always chided me for reading fiction – claiming it was a waste of time.
I adored these characters, they were easily accessible and highly likable and I wanted good things for them. Penned in my favorite dual POV, the writing style was crisp and engaging, yet also perceptive and loaded with wry wit and clever touches such as naming identical twins Summer and Winter. I easily fell into this tale from the very beginning and felt happily entertained and well pleased as I zipped through their star-crossed storylines.
magine a world where celebrity news doesn’t infiltrate your personal bubble. A world where you’re aware of your surroundings, but only on a larger scale…as in environmental causes, space phenomena, and friendships. A world where you leave the smallest footprint possible, your cater to your curiously named cats, and love feels comfortable, if not always comforting. Sounds somewhat perfect, right? Well it was…until it wasn’t…and that’s how Lana finds herself in the closet of a hotel with a supposedly random hot guy, who actually cares why she’s crying in a closet to begin with, who then whisks her away from the “scene of the crime” in his environmentally friendly vehicle wearing a green peace hat…and doesn’t even know he’s been voted “the sexiest man alive” several times over…oh, and he’s a top ranking movie star. Yep…some girls have all the luck.
Okay, so I don’t envy Lana the HOW it all came to be, but come on…talk about all the luck! Could you imagine? Lana’s take on life is refreshing, if not somewhat hermit-like when it comes to social media outlets, but it makes her who she is…environmentally friendly ideals and all! I love the fact that she has strong beliefs on how she affects the planet and strove to follow them while teaching not preaching to others. I adored the fact that she was a strong woman with a good head on her shoulders and a brain she wasn’t afraid to use. I enjoyed her innocence to the whole celebrity scene, as well as how well she took the paparazzi influx when it eventually made headlines. It made her more human, a person of the here and now, not just a two dimensional figure. As for Christian…honestly, he tries SO HARD… and that fact alone would make him a darling because it showed he truly cared about her. The only thing I really blame him for was his reaction to THE BIG EVENT…definitely a bad choice there bro…but otherwise, he’s a gem!
In the end, it was a fun read filled with humor, heart, and love big enough to reach…to the stars and back. Recommended read for Contemporary Romance, Chick-Lit, and Romantic Comedy fans, in the older teen through adult age range.
**ebook received for review; opinions are my own
I thoroughly enjoyed this book not only for the romance but for the environmental issues mentioned. Once I started this book I had difficulty putting it down. Although my morals are higher than the characters that didn’t distract from my enjoyment. I was glad to see Lana concerned about plastic recycling and gasoline cars, which is a subject I had never seen before in a romance novella. I highly recommend this book.
