“To the Fall is intense and sexy, but what makes this love story unforgettable is its raw emotional depth.” -USA TodayYou know the story. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, two kids, white picket fence. This isn’t that story. This is more like . . . Man meets woman. Man sleeps with woman. Man meets another woman, sleeps with her. And so on. You get the idea.I own a small boutique hotel in New … the idea.
I own a small boutique hotel in New Orleans, the Kingston. I’ve seen men do some stupid stuff in the name of the woman they love, or at least the woman they love for the night.
That’s not me. I’m always in control. You’d be surprised how much you can get away with on just good manners and a smile. It’s the only way to keep my secrets safely locked away.
And my smile hides a lot. Until her.
She turns me down flat. Playing hard to get is my favorite game. It’s the thrill of the chase.
Only problem is, I think it’s me that’s getting caught.

When you first met Pierce you think he’s a non-committal man whore, he’s arrogant but likable. He has trust issues when stems from a childhood incident with his bestie Annie.
He meets the headstrong woman Sutton and finds her quite intriguing because she keeps turning him down and that does not happen to him.
With so many things going on you are guessing what’s going to happen next not predictable at all which I like.
To The Fall by Prescott Lane was not your average story. It starts seemingly as a rom-com, the story of Pierce Kingston, lover of women and boutique hotel owner in New Orleans.
Prescott Lane never ceases to write a story that resonates. Each story is steeped in layers. Not only do they entertain you, make you laugh, blush and sigh, but they make you think, make you wonder, make you cry.
To The Fall is loaded with wonderful characters. Pierce Kingston the alpha male. The lover of women, the manly man. Annie, his best friend since they were kids. Sutton, the female love interest. Dr. Lorraine, the therapist and while a secondary character…a hugely important one.
The writing is phenomenal. Just when you’re enjoying the sexy, the author trips you up and adds a layer of serious. Just when you’re figuring everything out and saying ‘oh yeah, I know where this is going’ she trips you up and you’re like ‘what????’
This was a wonderful story, and it’s no shock that it was a 5 Star read for me. I’ve been in a reading slump for a year now. I’ve read a couple of books here and there, but I was used to reading 3 or 4 a week…now I’m lucky to make it through one a month. However, Prescott Lane never fails me, and with each new release I’m able to read a full story, greedily, hungrily, happily!
Five huge stars! This book will leave you breathless. Be prepared for an angsty journey with HEA included.
“Fall. Fall into me.”
Pour l’amour de Dieu! I still listen to the strong beats of my heart. It was beating so fast and strong like the wings of a hummingbird. To the Fall by Prescott Lane is a magnificent oeuvre d’art! It is an intense romance with deep emotions that had left me breathless and speechless.
The plot is refreshing and unique. I couldn’t put the book down until I devoured it complete. I spent a marvellous and angsty time while reading it. I absolutely love everything about it. It has been a long time since a book hooked me up like this one. It has all the elements that make it a perfect book for those readers who love raw romances where the heroine is a determined woman who has high standards in life and a broken hero able to avoid any emotional attachments.
From the very first page I was addicted to this book; my heart was in my throat throughout the entire story. This book was gripping and flawlessly written. It is the first time I read a book written by Prescott and I wonder why I haven’t read her books before. She is a wonderful writer. Her writing is addictive and it feels so real. I’m strongly in love with the way Prescott writes.
The story line goes smoothly from present and past. Most of the chapters are narrated by the male character. It is something I really enjoyed like a starved bookworm. Pierce’s mind is beautifully intense. Books that are narrated by the male character are truly unicorns.
Everyone had a past, some had a good one and others had a bad one. Past defines you and it could destroy your future. There are some things that you bury and forget. You could tell lies that become truth in order to protect yourself. But remember that no lie last one hundred years.
To the Fall is a complex and mind-blowing book with wonderful and well-developed characters. Here the hero is a cocky arsehole with a sweet and tender soul. Pierce is the best to hide his feelings. His world will radically change when a clever girl storms his life. And I say clever because she will deny the lust both feel for each other. He has trouble written all over and she does not need more of that.
“She’s a naughty girl in a good girl mask— the best kind of girl.”
I’m confident that Pierce will ruin you in a good way. Who doesn’t love a sexy man with a sinful nature? He is the definition of sinner. Only a strong woman can protect the broken pieces of his soul. His dirty mouth and scandalous personality is going to attract you.
“My dick is going to give you your first sex orgasm.”
I absolutely recommend you this book and mark my words: You are going to love it. Five stars are not enough for this masterpiece. This book will squeeze your heart and will leave you breathless.
“I don’t want to fall for someone who I know is going to crush me.”
Exceptional story!
Definitely one of my top 5 reads of 2018!
A unique, story of love, friendship and heartbreak.
The story developed slowly pulling the reader in so you become totally engrossed in the story. Then, when you think the story is going in one direction BOOM, it took a sharp turn that went a different way.
Wow!!
When Pierce finds himself in an uncompromising situation at his own hotel, he is forced to seek therapy. Meeting Dr. Lorraine leads him into an interesting journey of self discovery and sex diets. He reluctantly learns that in order to move forward he has to go back in time and resolve old demons.
The characters in this read were fantastically developed. Pierce is perfectly flawed, alpha male with a heart of gold and a tragic secret. The female characters were strong independent women who gave as good as they took. His relationship with Annie and Sutton is complex and complicated, adding depth to Pierce’s journey of self discovery. Dr. Lorraine was one badass therapist, who I’d love to meet in real life.
Flawlessly written, the chemistry amongst the characters was smart, fresh and thought provoking. This book pulled at all my emotions. There were some scenes that were swoon worthy and steamy, some were hilarious and then there were parts of this story that were gut wrenching and sad.
This is a must read!
“On the twelfth day of celibacy, my diet gave to me: one set of blue balls, two chafed hands, three holes I can’t touch…. You get the idea.”
A “diet” has never been so entertaining!
“He’s got a sweet, tender, sensitive soul under that asshole facade.”
Pierce was the perfect alpha you love to hate.
This story started as one thing, but then slowly morphed into something else. It was a fantastic spin of events and I loved it.
“Sometimes greatness happens from falling.”
You will most definitely enjoy this fall.
Has a book ever been so tragically beautiful that it leaves you speechless? Makes you feel as if you speak you will break the spell that the book weaved? This book has done that to me. I’m not even sure how to review a book that leaves me like this. How do I adequately say I loved it and it was the best book ever? How do I show that this book split me open until I was completely raw? It did all of that and more. This love story is a different one. The fact that it starts from a sex diet makes you think you’ll be laughing like crazy. I cried. Damn did I cry. I fell in love with all of the characters. I learned what it was to hate, hate a character so much you wish you could erase their name from the book. Sutton and Pierce have a love that is beautiful, not perfect but messy and real. It feels as though I’ve just read someone’s heartwrenching, true love story. It felt that real.
It doesn’t take you long to figure out that this story is seeped in secrets, secrets that could really do damage. When these secrets are found out? It makes you cry even more for the man Pierce is and the woman who could love him through it all. I’ll leave my review here. There isn’t too many more words I can think of that will describe how amazing this story is and how utterly magnificent the characters are. Read it and see for yourself.
I read this book a long time ago but I remember it clearly because it quickly became one of my favorite books of all time. I admit that it was tough getting through the first fourth of the book because there was some OW activity but there’s a reason for it and it helps move the story along.
So we have Pierce a self-made hotel owner/developer who has a bit of a sex addiction problem and manages to get himself in a mess he has to see a therapist. She turns out to be a wonderful lady that makes him work on his crap instead of continue on in denial. While this is all going on he meets Sutton who is different than other women and something about her makes him rethink a lot of things.
Sutton (I don’t like this name for a female but that’s my opinion) is a new hotel owner faced with the monumental task of saving it. Pierce wants her hotel and he wants her, too. While Sutton is intrigued and attracted to Pierce, she isn’t so easy to manipulate and she doesn’t play by the same rules that Pierce does. She’s fiesty and strong willed. They get off to a rocky start and there is a lot of angst but it does end with an HEA.
There are other important characters important to the story and important to Pierce. There is his best friend Annie who is beautiful inside and out but is hiding so much pain. I honestly liked Annie more than Sutton but that wasn’t the direction the book went. There’s also his little sister Tawny who means the world to Pierce. He takes such good care of her. He is also plagued by an evil step-mother.
To The Fall is a standalone novel told in Dual POV but primarily from Pierce’s POV. It’s mostly Pierce’s story so that makes sense. This is a well written book with well developed characters, a well planned out plot full of twists and turns, lies, painful secrets, dark emotional journeys, heartbreak, and some tears. There is some issues with sexual assault so if that is a trigger for you, please beware.
There were a couple things I could have lived without an awkward scene that could have been left out, a few little things that don’t need mentioning, and I secretly didn’t like Sutton so much (please don’t tell the author!) but I adored Pierce once the pieces started to fall into place. Overall I loved this book and I fully recommend it. It may not be for everyone but nothing ever is in life. I’m giving this one of my rare five stars rating. Do with that what you will.

WOW!!!! To the Fall was so unexpected….but in the best way possible.
I went into this story thinking one thing and then as the story progressed I thought something else but in the end I couldn’t have ever seen that coming!!!! This story was so much more than a “player” finding the woman who could tame him. This story is full lies, betrayals and raw emotion!!!
This story does touch on a subject that we know is out there but not talked about often enough. I thought this story was well written and thought out. I thought Prescott did this topic justice!! I truly felt like I was in the story and the characters lives and minds. This book will definitely have your emotions and heart going in all different directions.
I am not going to go in depth about the storyline, because you will want to read this and experience the whole story for yourself. I will say this, I had a love/hate relationship with Pierce in the beginning of the book. He truly is a “player” in the true sense of the word. There were somethings that I really didn’t like that he did throughout the story, but as his story unfolds….I truly understand why he was the way he was. He eventually won over my heart.
I have to be honest and say that I think this might just be my favorite book of Ms. Lane’s. I was completely impressed and even blown away at times. I thought the writing was fantastic and I thought the flow and pace of this story was spot on!! I was totally sucked in from the beginning. The prologue was intriguing and made me want to know more!! This story didn’t disappoint at all.
To The Fall is a standalone novel told in Dual POV but primarily from Pierce’s POV. I don’t think this story could’ve been written any other way. We NEEDED to be in Pierce’s head. We do meet Pierce in Toying With Her but you don’t have to read that book before reading To The Fall. The stories aren’t really connected at all.
If you are a fan of angst filled love story that also has lies, and secrets and will keep you guessing until the end, then this is the book for you to read!! If you are a fan of Prescott’s books then you don’t want to miss out on this GEM!!! Definitely a MUST READ and will make my Best of 2018 list!!!
Great Read! Just what I needed on my “me day”
What happens when you bury a trauma? The ghosts appear in other parts of your life. Sensitive story, survivor story, srxy story. I enjoyed this. Recommended.
The characters are original and beguiling! I would definitely label this a fun Rom-Com.
Another amazing read by Prescott Lane!!!
Pierce Kingston is the rich playboy owner of a boutique hotel in Louisiana. He has been court ordered to therapy due to his hotel being part of a prostitution bust. As part of the therapy, his therapist has asked him to do a 30-day no sex diet. This is a huge challenge for Pierce who admits he doesn’t go very long without sex. His struggle with celibacy makes for some hilarious times in this book especially since this book is in Pierce’s POV.
I should write a song. Instead of the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas,’ it could be ‘The Twelve Days of Celibacy.
On the twelfth day of celibacy, my diet gave to me: One set of blue balls, two chafed hands, three holes I can’t touch….
When Pierce hears of another local boutique owner’s death, Pierce goes to the hotel to scope things out and look into possibly taking it over. However, the late owner’s granddaughter, Sutton Presley, has inherited the place and already has plans for the hotel. With the sparks flying between Pierce and Sutton, he decides that Sutton will be his next conquest, no-sex diet be damned.
But Sutton has her own intimacy issues and isn’t about to be another notch in Pierce’s bedpost. Pierce decides to pursue Sutton anyway because he feels a connection he just can’t let go. It may finally be time for Pierce to face his own issues with the help of this new therapist and discover what he really wants for his future.
This book was so much more than I expected. I was drawn right in with the humor of this story but there is definitely deeper issues to be dealt with in this story. The twists and turns that this story took sometimes hit me right in the heart but Prescott did heal me as well. I loved this story!! Prescott Lane is a truly talented author who always deals with heavy topics in a sensitive, beautiful way.
Wow! Wow, wow, wow! That’s what I said when I read the last page. What a great read! To the Fall is told, for the most part, in the hero’s POV. The book takes place in New Orleans which almost becomes a character in and of itself. I’ll confess that it took me quite awhile to warm up to our hero, Pierce. An unapologetic, cynical manwhore of epic proportions. He is a wealthy hotel owner who is brutally honest in his relationships ( or lack thereof) with women. His inner dialogue made chuckle more than once.
Pierce’s relationship with his best friend, Annie, and sister, Tawny reveal his softer side but make no mistake… his heart is on lockdown. Until he meets our heroine, Sutton. Who turns him down flat. She is a white picket fence kind of woman and not ashamed of it. Pierce starts to fall for her.
“I feel sick to my stomach. Am I falling in love with her? Because if so, it feels horrible. Like some sort of stomach flu that makes you delirious.”
Their journey is not an easy one. There are so very many layers to Pierce. So many secrets. We also see flashbacks throughout the book, memories that reveal the vulnerability of the boy and the events that have shaped the man. I loved the pacing of the story, the gradual revelations. As a reader, I doubted the author could make me fall for Pierce….but I did.
I’m not going to reveal the plot line here because it should be experienced first-hand. Secrets are revealed, of course. There were several twists and turns I did not see coming. The characters HEA was hard won and beautiful because
of it.
“Here’s the thing about loving someone. It’s a complete loss of control, like falling. Sometimes it hurts. And sometimes you land exactly where you’re supposed to.”

Wow…I wasn’t expecting this. Gripping, intense and emotional, To the Fall was different. Told mainly from the hero’s POV, this story had so many layers and was so much more that the blurb, that you will be hooked right from the start. This story started off as a slow burn but soon escalated into so much more.
Yes you will be taken on a roller-coaster ride, yes tissues will be needed, yes it was steamy, yes there was a HEA ending but the journey to get there will astound you.
The main characters were complex and highly developed. However there are some secondary characters who add so much to this novel that the story would not be the same with out them.
The story was thought-provoking, heart-breaking and real. It will leave you speechless. Definitely worth more that 5 stars, this page-turner was a phenomenal read and I would highly recommend it.
A great story with a strong message that’s real, raw and brilliantly written…
Oh my good Lord, where do I start? I’m like a little jack rabbit at the minute because I’m so excited over this book. I’ve read most of Prescott’s books, but To The Fall is so different to what she’s written in the past. At first I thought it was going to be one of those books that tries too hard to be funny and uses innuendos like they’re going out of fashion, but boy oh boy was I in for a surprise. Once I started I could not put this book down. It has this raw story behind it that touches on some issues that make you think. I’d go as far as to say that it lends itself to a dark romance with the topics it addresses. Note that I’m going to be very vague about this plot because it is one of those where you gain the most from experiencing it for yourself.
The plot for this book at its essence isn’t new, however Ms. Lane’s knack for addressing real issues with light comedy and real wit make it fresh and original. This is a real zinger. It’s told entirely from the hero’s POV, which if I’m honest is not something I love. In fact Lauren Blakely is one of the only authors who does it for me on that front…well, until this baby! I really loved that although the book is told from Pierce’s perspective you still get a great grasp and understanding of Sutton. In my opinion the way in which this story is written is nothing short of brilliant. It gave the rich playboy trope a different dynamic and edge. It made the story unique and it allows the reader to see the hero warts and all. If that makes sense. The only way there’s any redemption is through the layering of the character and the progression. If you ask me? Prescott has outdone herself with this beauty. Her writing feels like it’s matured in ways and grown. That’s not me saying that her writing wasn’t great before, that’s me saying that she’s gone to a whole new level. She’s not an author that pops a book out every other month, she takes her time and she produces romantic comedies that are timeless. Every time I reread one of her books I enjoy it just as much, if not more as the first time. And I just know that To The Fall is one of those. This book is hands down one of my favourite reads so far this year.
For me the beauty of this book is the rainbow of emotions I had for Pierce. He’s not and easy hero to love. His arrogance bleeds into conceit and confidence into obnoxiousness, however he never feels like he’s trying to be something he’s not. He is brutally honest—about himself, about others and about what he feels. He doesn’t drive you around in circles when all you want to do is go through the drive-thru. You know he’s that guy that if you ask him if your butt looks big, he’ll tell you it does. But he’ll also tell you that’s how he likes it, so who cares what anybody else thinks. If that makes sense? You want to strangle him to death for saying your butt is big, but at the same time you can’t help but swoon because he likes it and he’ll make sure you know it. Ok, that just took on a whole different avenue and I wasn’t even going there. But hey, needs must what needs may. I liked that although you only ever see Sutton through his eyes you still get to see her for who she is. Strong, driven and grounded. As the story unraveled I could get a real sense as to why he felt for her the way that he does and why she is different to all the others. Again, I’m being vague because you do not want the main event to be spoilt.
All in all, I. Loved. This. Book. To The Fall is freaking brilliant. I will say that you are required to invest into the hero and get to know him little by little because he starts off as closed off and distant. So you do only get to know him as the heroine does. he reader makes the same progress as Sutton when it comes to learning about the man beneath the bravado. Personally I thought it was a very cunning and sneaky way of getting you all tangled up in his strings. It also makes the twist a lot harder to take. It makes you see Pierce in completely different light. I wish that that particular twist had happened a little earlier, just because it would’ve made it easier for me grasp it and it would’ve also made the conclusion feel a little rushed? Maybe that’s not the right word. For me the gravity of the issue and the conclusion were too close together. I would’ve liked to see it played out a little more and if I’m honest resolved a little differently. BUT, those are my feelings on it. I don’t believe everyone else will feel the same way.
In the end, this is a brilliantly written plot with a very real and raw story woven into it. It’ll make you think. It’ll make you stop, and it’ll make you take stock of the world around you and the way you perceive those around you. To The Fall, is a great story with a strong message. You should read it.
5 Sex Diet Stars!!
What a BOOK!!! Started this yesterday and could not stop reading it. Finished it last night. I’ve always enjoyed Prescott Lane’s writing. But this one hit a home-run with me! Knocked it out of the ballpark! Very few books have had me start and finish in one day. To the Fall sucks you in from the beginning and you can’t stop reading till the story is finished. So many layers to uncover that you can’t possibly stop reading this one until they are all uncovered!
Pierce is 100% a man whore. He is very truthful to every female he has an encounter with. No Love, No Marriage, No Kids. If any of those things start to play out, you get the Pierce severance package and sent on your way. Besides a good romp in the sack, he owns/runs a hotel in New Orleans along with his best friend since the age of 5, Annie.
Annie and Pierce have been through everything in life together. From their first kiss, to making art, to just being there for each other. Especially that one night. The one-night Pierce refuses to talk about. Their friendship is one that will last a lifetime yet full of secrets.
Sutton is the owner of the neighboring hotel. Head strong, has her mind set on doing things her way. Raised by her Marine father, almost military like, she doesn’t cave on Pierce and his sexy ways to bed a woman.
I absolutely loved Dr. Lorraine! She could see right through Pierce and his ways. But knew that deep down inside, he was a loving man who just needed to go on a Sex Diet.
This book was a Fantastic read!

I’ve read a few of Prescott Lanes books and To The Fall is by far my favourite. This is a beautifully written book that had me thoroughly engrossed. It’s completely different to the other books I’ve read by her and I found it a lot more emotional. Written in mainly Pierces POV, this book sucked me in from the start (I love to get the males pov).
Pierce is a successful hotel owner. Some would say he’s a man whore. Some would say he’s open and honest about his love for no strings sex. I’d say he’s both. He’s upfront about his needs and has accepted that’s the way he’s meant to be. This starts to change when Pierce finds himself having to confront his past and having no choice but to make some changes.
This is a hard review to write without spoiling it. I feel like no matter what I write it’s not going to do the characters, the story or the author justice. Pierce is such a loveable, complex character. His past holds so many secrets and I loved taking the journey with him as he tries to grow and change. I love a broken, closed off man and the more I learnt about the real Pierce, the more I loved him. There is a fantastic twist in this book that I didn’t see come and it really was one of those perfect wtf moments.
This book was everything I hoped it would be and I can’t recommend it enough.
Love, Commitment, monogamy, relationships are all words that have no place in Pierce Kingstons life. He neither partakes nor believes in any of that old mumbo jumbo. Now SEX, SEX and more sex are most definitely the main stay for him. Not only is he a committed playboy, he’s also a successful Hotelier.
Did i like him? No not at first, he really seems to be a total douche, yet there is also something endearing about him. Put on a sex ban by a therapist he’s been forced to see, had me in fits of laughter as this story is told in his pov. Even though at this point its such a light read, i could feel the underlying deep seated issues and his dark secrets looming on the edge.
I found myself confused yet incredibly intrigued by Pierce, for a man who is adamant that he will never love, or have emotional entanglements, its is clearly obvious that there are two women, who he loves unconditionally. His best friend Annie and his little sister Tawny. The love and caring he shows them had me falling even deeper into his trap!!! Annie is the only woman he trust’s and knows his secrets as they have been friends practically from childhood.
Then he meets Sutton Presley, a woman a bit like himself, doesn’t do commitment or love. When his feelings for this woman become apparent, its then we really get to the layers this man hides behind. The author gently draws us in, then BAM!! It all becomes serious, and your emotions just fly, i didn’t even realise how emotionally invested i had become, till it all hit me. One particular event involving Annie just broke me, and then the depths this man went to, to find his own strength and peace just left me in shatters!! Humour, emotion, fresh and Unique, Definitely a must read !!
