A story about the lengths we go for love…“What happens when a girl from a cult catches the eye of a strong, dangerous fighter? I loved this passionate story of a woman on the run and a man who is totally freaking obsessed with her.” – Annika Martin, New York Times bestselling authorAnother rundown apartment. Another job that pays cash. Every new city it becomes harder to hide but I can’t stop … but I can’t stop running.
There are two men after me…
One wants to save my soul. The other wants to claim my body.
Part of me wants Luca to catch me, even knowing what he’s capable of. An enforcer. A fighter. The only language he speaks is violence.
How far will he go to find me?
What will he do once he does?
A wild glance over my shoulder. The shadows are moving.
I’m about to find out.

Perfect ending
Luca and Beth’s story is a great end to this series. I’m sad to be done with these strong women and protective men but am happy with the way it ended.
Luca and Beth meet when he helps her escape from the commune she was held prisoner at. She is pregnant with a baby at 16 from the leader of the cult and just wants her and her baby to be safe. She runs at the first opportunity and Luca has to chase her to Alaska in order to try and save her. She is being stalked by Luca and her brother, Alex. She thinks both want to harm her. Based upon her past experiences, I could see where she thought that. Luca didn’t want to harm her though, he wanted to save her again and protect her. She finally started to see what Luca was about when she agreed to come back with him as long as her daughter, Delilah was protected. Luca wants the threat from Alex against her to go away so he wants to use Beth as bait to lure him out. As always, the plan doesn’t go as smoothly as they hoped and I did like some of the twists of the story. Luca was more than patient with Beth and wanted her to trust and love him, not just see him as an obligation in order to show how thankful she was. Beth does come to some conclusions in this book that allow her to show great forgiveness and open her heart to love again. It was nicely done and I enjoyed the ending.
While this didn’t work for me, I think readers of contemporary romance may really enjoy this book. I tend to veer towards the darker books, and this book just wasn’t deliciously dark. The story fell flat.
I will say the heroine’s child was ADORABLE. I loved her interactions with Lucas too. Really, really cute. I truly do think readers who like contemporary romance will love this book. I’m sometimes finicky when it comes to billionaire Alphas.
Why this didn’t work for me:
The “I shouldn’t want him, but I do want him” angst bored me.
Because most of the cult trauma happened off-screen, the cult plot fell flat. There’s more impact when readers get to actually read what the cult is doing first-hand.
Chemistry and sex was boring.
I was bored by the fighting.
Luca being a billionare security/fighting/gambling guy who owns his own private jet seemed unrealistic.
What didn’t work for me may work for others! I’m a die hard Skye Warren fan and will read anything she writes. I don’t love every book, but every book is worth giving a chance.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Two men are after Sara Elizabeth. One wants to take her back to where she was from and save her soul. The other wants to claim her as his own. Part of her wants Luca to catch her, even knowing the things he is capable of. He’s a fighter. An enforcer. The only language he speaks violence. How far will each man go to find her? What will happen when one of them does?
Sara Elizabeth aka Beth spent her life growing up in a cult. I have never read a book that I can remember about the cult. This was both was fascinating and equal parts terrifying. When we meet Sara Elizabeth she’s living with the leader of the cult. She waiting on her prince to come along a rescue her. My poor heart broke thinking of the things this girl has had to endure. Just like most who are waiting for their Prince to come he never shows up but a man who has to be the devil himself does. Luca is a mob enforcer and gets Sara Elizabeth out of their but instead of feeling rescued she just knows so all her heart all he wants is to violate her like the cult leader does. She runs and the journey or outrunning two men begins. I was high engrossed in this book and read it in a matter of hours. It’s a novella but I would have loved to have explored more of the cult life. You don’t feel like your missing parts of that life though in the book. There is just the right amount of information. I just thought it was extreme my a unique and interesting subject since I’ve never read a book like it before.
I really loved is book and can not wait to see what Skye Warren writes next.
