Chief Detective David Wolf’s son has a new girlfriend, and when she discovers her father—a well known man in ancient fossils trade circles—has been murdered, she and the rest of her shattered family turn to Wolf to bring them justice.
With the help of a small town sheriff and a retired police dog named Jet, Wolf follows the clues to a dig site in northwest Colorado, where secrets have been … have been entombed for eons, and people are dying to keep them that way.
In a place where killing monsters are buried under the earth, it becomes clear there are still some roaming topside, and in this suspense-filled seventh installment of the David Wolf series, Wolf must keep his wits, or his bones might be the prize being unearthed someday.

Jeff Carson did it again. Began swiftly and kept going from there. Another very good read.
I love this whole series. This was a great book in the series. It wasn’t my favorite out of the 13 books, but it was very entertaining and Jeff always finds a way to surprise me in the end!
Like all of the David Wolfe series
Too many characters at the start of the book was already confused; then found it was a sick story and just wanted it to end.
Had me guessing to the last page, will read more of this author.
Great story loved the characters
Stopped reading after 2 chapters and deleted it.
i have read almost every book in this series and I love the characters – they are believable – they are dedicated, but flawed – much like real life. Will continue to look for more books in this series!
I wanted to like this book but for some reason I cannot name I was just not drawn in by the story.
Very good book. Story line was great and the characters were well defined.
I really enjoyed reading this book….it was easy to read and it had an unpredictable out come. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I really like the character David Wolf. And I enjoy the way Jeff Carson writes! This was a great read!
This was an O.K. read, but I never connected with any of the characters. The lead detective spends a lot of time running around investigating multiple suspects (too many) with not much progress solving the mystery of the missing bone fossils or related murders. Then in Chapter 39 he finally figures everything out and the whole chapter is him explaining what actually happened to another police officer. The reader isn’t taken along as the mystery is solved, but rather is told about it. The dialogue in general just didn’t flow well. Sometimes it was difficult to determine who was talking to who and what they were referring to in the conversation. Some of the “boys will be boys” repartee between the characters was childish and inserted for no reason. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series and probably will not.
Great read – a mystery with some anthropology!
This is a great book! I never read anything by this author before Bookbub but I will definitely read more of his books. The story was suspenseful and had a really surprise ending. Once you start, you won’t be able to put it down.
This whole series is great! Highly recommended.
Flat out ridiculous story, unless you are a 12 year old….long dull and boring descriptions and stupid conversations and actions by characters.
Great read. As always, Michael takes you on an accurate historical journey through a wild adventure.
It was a good read but short
I like the David Wolf character and the story kept my interest.
