A new case brings back old memories for Special Agent Kate Reid. A cold case in Boston suddenly turns hot again when a construction worker uncovers bones at a site along Boston’s famed Charles River. The remains are presumed to belong to a victim of the serial killer who haunted the city in the 1980s. However, when more victims turn up and are believed to be much more recent deaths, the elite BAU … deaths, the elite BAU team is called in to investigate the similarities.
The team, led by Agent Nick Scarborough, arrives to work with the local FBI field office. But this is all too familiar for Agent Kate Reid when parallels are drawn between this investigation and her own search for a killer who resurfaced years later.
Now she confronts not only the reminders of her former days, but someone is working against her interests that could undermine her very sanity.

Another fantastic Kate Reid thriller. I was drawn right into this book and enjoyed the mystery and interaction between the characters. It took a while to figure out exactly who two of the characters were and the back and forth in time made the suspense that much better. The BAU is a good team and work well together. However, sometimes you have to wonder about Quinn and why he questions Kate so much. Overall, this book was very realistic, the characters and plot were great and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Five star thriller.
When bodies start showing up along the Charles River, the FBI calls in the elite BAU team, led by Agent Nick Scarborough.
All this is too familiar for Agent Kate Reid. Now she confronts not only the reminders of her former days, but someone is working against her interests that could undermine her very sanity. Will the team find the Charles River Killer this time? Is this the work of a copy-cat killer out to settle a score with Kate? You will have to read the book to find out. Make a pot of your favorite beverage, you’ll be up for a while reading. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
A twisted, haunting tale of serial killings past and present. The story will keep you guessing.
Great book!
good reading
Kept me engrossed.
Great plot with tons of action and plot twists. Awesome female role created
I enjoyed this read. Highly recommended.
Engaging book.
Great read
Good insight into the mind of killers
A little too gruesome for my tastes, but it held my attention, and I felt I had to finish it.
A perfect example of the old saying, “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men.”
Excellent follow on for Kate Reid. Loved the story line and am looking forward to more of the same. Story telling is great and keeps your interest. Wish she would just go ahead and get married, for Pete’s sake.
Thoroughly enjoyable fascinating read
Very much enjoy the Kate Reid series. Good characters, psychological thriller that holds your attention.
What’s better than a creepy serial killer story? A story with TWO creepy serial killers! That’s what you’ll get with this twisted crime procedural. Intense plot with many players and several plot lines all running together will keep you turning the pages to see how it all will end (and keep up with who’s who!) Some nail-biting moments will definitely keep you on edge. The ending is a little abrupt, but basically satisfies, while leaving it open for another book. Overall, a really good read!
As a Psychology teacher i appreciate a Freudian mystery! Very well written, easy to read and although i excpected it most people will be shocked at the killer/s!
Good solid police drama.
Wow this captured my attention. I searched my library and found more books
so am now reading 3 more episodes.
