A new case brings back old memories for Special Agent Kate Reid. A cold case in Boston suddenly turns hot again when a construction worker uncovers bones at a site along Boston’s famed Charles River. However, when more victims turn up and are believed to be much more recent deaths, the elite BAU … deaths, the elite BAU team is called in to investigate the similarities.
The team, led by Agent Nick Scarborough, arrives to work with the local FBI field office. But this is all too familiar for Agent Kate Reid when parallels are drawn between this investigation and her own search for a killer who resurfaced years later.

“To the Bone” is the story of graduate paleontologists who are working at a dig and may be involved in one or more murders. The story begins when Deputy David Wolf is called to the home of his 15 year old son Jack’s 16 year old girlfriend Cassidy Frost because she has discovered her father dead from a gun shot wound. We learn that Mr. Frost sold bones discovered by paleontologists to collectors. We also learn that the person supposed to purchase the bones is a Senator on the Appropriations Committee who puts a lot of pressure on Detective Wolf and his supposed boss the Sheriff to find the bones for which he paid one million dollars. Neither the bones nor the million dollars are at the crime scene. We learn that the professor who was supposed to deliver the bones to Mr. Frost is missing. Did he leave for somewhere with the million dollars? Wolf goes to the dig after learning where it is and finds two dig sites. From Site One he learns that the professor he is looking for and his students have been very secretive about what they are working on. Who killed Mr. Frost? Where is the professor? Where are the Senator’s bones? Why are more people being murderer? The book is very exciting and I could not put it down until I answered all of my questions. I recommend this book to people who enjoy good mysteries.
First book in the series I have read, which became a problem as this story unfolded. It had a strong start, but not knowing the various players and backgrounds, I soon got lost. I did finish it, as it was an ok story, but it became a slough. Won’t be going back to catch up.
Have mixed feelings about this book. It was interesting but hard to follow.
Found this book very slow. After 15% it had still not grabbed my attention or created any drama. Gave up and deleted it from my kindle fire.
This was a good story line. Seemed to drag just a little bit in places. Author kept jumping back and forth not only with characters but with time line. Was just a little hard to follow. Really had to pay attention. Did not fall in love with any of the characters.
I would have thoroughly enjoyed this book except the language was atrocious. There was no reason what-so-ever for the exceedingly filthy language. In my opinion it ruined what would have been a 5 star book.
It was an okay book, but I wouldn’t take the time to read it again. Sorry
The book was entertaining and had a novel story line – the abused son of a now wheelchair bound serial killer plots to reveal his father crimes to the police by using his MO while killing young women similar to his father’s victims. The pure evil of the father and mental instability of the son are clear. The FBI special unit sent to help on the new and old killings ultimately figures out them out. However, much of its efforts involve interpersonal issues among team members, politics and assuring local law enforcement that the unit is just there to help and not take over the matter. This aspect of the book became distracting.
Was okay. Not a favorite. Too many undescribed characters. I pretty much skimmed through parts of it.
Way too much bad language
very dull
This wasn’t the best book I have ever read but did have a different twist on the serial killer aspect.
