“McCaffrey’s world of the Talented is as vivid as that of Pern and its dragons.”—Publishers WeeklyWhen a freak accident furnishes solid scientific proof of paranormal mental abilities, the world reacts with suspicion and fear. How can ordinary people coexist with a minority able to read minds, heal with a touch, peer into the future, or move objects with a thought? How can anyone with such power … can anyone with such power be trusted not to abuse it? Harsh repression seems the only answer
Gifted with precognitive talent, Henry Darrow has other ideas, foreseeing a future in which the Talents are accepted for what they are and not what they can offer their fellow humans. But the road to that future will not be easy. Darrow and the powerful telepath Daffyd op Owen must win the public’s trust while overcoming the threat of rogue Talents like Solange Boshe, a young girl so consumed with hatred that her thoughts can kill, and the singer known as Amalda, whose telepathic prowess can unite a thousand strangers in joyful harmony—or mold them into a bloodthirsty mob. . . .

Anne McCaffrey is one of my favourite authors. I always enjoy her stories.
I’m an Anne Mccaffrey fan and this is one of my favorites. A unique look at talents of all kinds.
Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors. The first sci-fi/fantasy genre book I ever read was The White Dragon. I will read anything she has written, and highly recommend her books.
Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors ever
Anne McCaffrey is simply one of my favorite science fiction authors. Even though the plot of this book moves slowly, I still like it very much and it sets the stage for many other books by the author as well as corroborations with other very good science fiction writers.
One of my favorite books by Ann McGaffrey. I have read it several times and actually was just thinking, I ought to read it again.
How do you simplify space travel? Ms. McCaffrey solves this conundrum.
Short stories about the same time period and same cast of characters, though with different characters taking the lead and others taking supporting roles.
I’ve read this one a couple of times. Sometimes re-reading a book is like visiting an old dear friend you know the end, but you still love taking the adventure (some parts you’ve forgotten and re-reading can be an “oh yeah that’s how that happened” experience). 😉
