To Protect & Serve
The Courage Series, Book 1
~ Excerpt ~
It was like a whole sleeping system snapped awake around Lisa. People she had no idea where they had come from were suddenly running in every direction at once.
“Sorry, Ms. Matheson, we’re going to have to do this some other time,” Captain Hayes said, but she was too stunned to do more than nod.
Men, gear, boots, equipment, and then just as the truck roared to life, the last fireman in full gear flashed by her and jumped into the back door. All the air vanished from the earth itself when he slammed that door closed. The blaring continued above her, but she hardly heard it as her eyes blurred against the sight. Slowly the truck pulled out into the street, leaving her standing alone in the empty station house.
“Oh, God, please, let him be all right.”

Staci Stalling’s book give your a true meaning to God’s word , you fall in love with the characters and can’t put them down, outstanding books.
This book was an educational experience and very moving as well. A Type A woman who despised men and a young man with extreme social anxiety disorder very gradually come to care for each other and slowly fall in love. He is a young fireman, and after his best friend dies in a fire and he is severely burned, his girlfriend decides she cannot live …
Stallings captured the essence of firefighting and used both a realistic and poignant approach to spotlight the life of firefighters and those who love them.
Beautiful, deep…will stay with you. And it’s clean!
A good story. Not much action but intense when it happens. Lots of dialogue.
Good read
It dealt with true feelings about the dangers faced by firefighters, how prior experiences can affect decisions in the now, and how to deal with fears by trusting God.
Awesome book
Absolutely loved this book and love this author. Nothing makes me happier than a little conflict and clean romance with a happy ending. Amazing!
This was a sweet, wholesome romance which I enjoyed as a diversion from daily life. Predictable, but satisfying.
I like to see different careers presented in books and how they affect each others lives. Great book!
If you like stories with First Responders, I think you’ll like To Protect and Serve. I liked the characters and the story line, although I think the writing could be tightened. When Jeff Taylor, a recent graduate of fire-fighter training, meets Lisa Matheson, the workaholic owner of an ad agency, the attraction is immediate, but their relationship …
I don’t read romance often but when I do I read Christian romance. This book is a great read and I highly recommend it.
This book is rough. Not because of any errors, but because of the slow development of the relationship. And for how emotional it gets. The reader and the characters have to work so hard for the ending.
I really enjoyed this book; I hope to read more from this author.
This is an interesting story that lets you see inside the workings of a fireman’s family. I had never thought of how much faith it would take to watch your loved one walk out the door to a dangerous job. This truly makes me appreciate our first responders in a greater way.
