When Kate’s past pulls her into a web of treachery and deceit, a life she is wholly unprepared for, Adrien must use any means necessary to stop the French spies from succeeding in their evil designs and keep her safe. When the truth is finally revealed, will Lady Camden be strong enough to seize her own future and happiness, or will her heart be too shattered to ever love a spy?
As always Laura will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat as you are thrown into yet another thrilling spy adventure! This one continues not long after the ending of the last one and brings everyone together again. Its not only the journey of catching the spies but of learning to love and trust again. I was hooked from the start because it was clear that he loved her and wanted to help her in every way. In no way did I see who was behind everything or the crazy reasons for some of it coming. The wedding scene tops all others I have loved with its own little twists. Serious book hangover with this one and hope there is more to the series soon.
Kate is stronger than she realizes and needs help to find her voice again. Her emotions and trauma of what happened rule her at times, but she is a favorite of mine. She didn’t wither away and everyone around her wanted to help her. I loved when she started acting like a spy without fulling realizing it.
Adrien wears his heart on his sleeve without knowing it. I loved how thought about things and his use of a sledgehammer made him a favorite. He could so easily transform and convince people of anything that you almost believe it yourself. When did what he did before the wedding I loved him more.
This is a must read series!
This story kept me guessing. I didn’t know what new information I was going to get next. Kate’s story pulled at my heart strings, I love how she became a stronger woman by the end of the story. It was also great to see the characters return from the first book.
Laura Beers has introduced me to the world of Regency Romance and I have fallen head over heels in love with the entire Beckett family! To Love a Spy is filled with twists turns and a sweet romance.
Adrien has lived the lonely life of a spy for many years and he isn’t used to having someone he cares for or that cares for him, since the French had murdered the rest of his family while he was deep undercover. That is until, he meets Lady Camden.
Kate, Lady Camden, has been oppressed by her mother and former husband, who were French spies that had infiltrated England to sway Parliament. After the abuse she had endured Kate struggled to trust, especially men, and escaped back to her country home as a refuge.
The sweet budding relationship between Kate and Adrien had me swooning in such a way that you wouldn’t believe that kissing and climbing trees could do. It’s the simple gestures of courting that really has me falling hard and fast for their relationship. You add in the intrigue and the lies, scandal and murders, that turns this sweet romance up a notch and you don’t want to put the book down.
To Love a Spy will keep you turning pages to the end and you keep you on your toes with shocking revelations and the need to know what comes next in the The Beckett Files.
