I loved this story!! I have read a few stories by Emma Prince and I am never disappointed. I loved the storyline and the characters. The story tugged at the heartstrings. I felt what the characters were feeling and I pretty much fell in love with Edmund! He is pretty irresistible. A very enjoyable story!
Thea Reynolds is off to a new position in the Scottish highlands as a governess. She’s glad to be getting as far away from London and her past as possible.
Edmund, Earl of Kinfallon has allowed his estate to run itself for the last two years. He has been busy trying to help his sister.
This is a short Christmas story with wonderful characters who think more of others than themselves.
Emotion and secrets all feature strongly.
Good fun.
Love Happens When Least Expected
Thea hopes that with this new position, she will be able to hide in the wilds of Scotland and keep her past hidden. Fate has other plans
Edmund hopes the new governess will accept the position and he’ll have the needed time to turn his estate around and keep it as it has always been. Fate has other plans.
I really enjoyed To Kiss a Governess by Emma Prince. Although the story was simple and sweet, it was well written with a quick pace. I liked that all the characters were well developed and likable. Best of all, the ending was both happy and sigh worthy.
Content 411: This is mostly a clean read with a “wee bit” of swearing and a few passionate kisses.
I really enjoyed the storyline in this book.. Especially the fact that Emma had a brother and governess who were willing to be patient with a loved one who went through such a tragedy.. And she not only did that but she managed to have a great love story and a great highland vibe to it just an overall great Christmas novella.. I look forward to the next.. I definitely loved the author’s note that Emma did as well..
Absolutely a perfect, sweet, quick way to get into the Christmas spirit! The book was short, and somewhat predictable, but that’s what made it such a cozy read. I maybe teared up once or twice when the heroine was shown interacting with the hero’s “mad” sister, and the author tackled the complex issues of grief and mental illness with grace and understanding…and no magic wand waved to fix everything, but we’re left with a wonderful sense of hope for the future. No naughty scene, but plenty of attraction! Recommended, and I went on to buy the next book in the series.
I really loved this story – Emma Prince weaves a tale better than anyone and her characters are so endearing. And who doesn’t love a handsome, Scottish Earl in a kilt! Edmund, Earl of Kinfallon, is running out of options to try and save his sister, Clarissa and in spending so much time with her he is losing time to repair his crumbling estate by taking care of the day to day business. Edmund has hired an English governess, Thea Reynolds who has unusual teaching ways and he hopes she will stay and help after hearing Clarissa’s story.
This English governess may be able to save Clarissa and Edmund – the story had some sad parts (a tissue was needed), love of family, hope and trust, romance and love. I highly recommend this lovely holiday novella.
Such a delightful Christmas novella by Emma Prince and one can tell the author did her research well. Edmund is the type of hero we would all love to have in our lives and Thea is so perfect for him in every way. I love how Thea takes care of Edmund’s sister, Clarissa, and helps her begin to heal after the horrible death of her husband and daughter. This story really pulls at your heartstrings and as for the villain…oh, how I wanted to punch his lights out! lol All in all, a very well written story!!
