Harper Lee’s Pulitzer prize-winning masterwork of honor and injustice in the deep south—and the heroism of one man in the face of blind and violent hatred, available now for the first time as an e-book. One of the best-loved stories of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than thirty million copies worldwide, served as the basis for an … enormously popular motion picture, and was voted one of the best novels of the twentieth century by librarians across the country. A gripping, heart-wrenching, and wholly remarkable tale of coming-of-age in a South poisoned by virulent prejudice, it views a world of great beauty and savage inequities through the eyes of a young girl, as her father-a crusading local lawyer-risks everything to defend a black man unjustly accused of a terrible crime.

If ever there were a book I would consider voting for as the “Great American Novel”, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is the one…the only one. It is hard for me to say that there is a one great anything. Times change, technology improves, and social views evolve. In short, we are never the same from one generation to the next and trying to pick …
A classic! It never gets old because the characters and the story continue to be relatable at every age and stage of life. And Scout’s rebellious wit is laugh-out-loud funny every time.
reread this classic recently and enjoyed it just as much. Great characters and I grew up in the era of time in which the book was written. Brought back many memories that I would prefer to forget. Glad that times have changed for the better and we all have the same opportunities to live in this country
This is one of my favorite books. Harper Lee is an amazing author, I wish she had written more (and no I don’t count that commercial disaster “comes a watchman” that was actually a very early version of this novel that was recently published as if it was a found manuscript. a terrible way for the pulisher to make money and an insult to the authors …
If ever there was a book that should be read more than once, this is the book. The book gives us a view into the prejudices of small town America, and the lengths people will go to have their lives remain the same. In my opinion this is one of thebest books to ever be written.
I love this book and generally reread it at lest once a year. There is so much to love about it. The characters, the story, and the setting . I love the strong sense of family and acceptance.
Both calming and provocative.
Harper Lee weaves through the cloth of adult thinking with the needle of a child’s mind…and the result is one of the most impressive tapestries the world has seen!
It is true that a child’s mind is the most non-discriminating, for them all folks are just folks. Lee shows us how adulting builds barriers between you …
I had a hard time reading this book because Scout bothered me. I think she and I are too similar in traits that my older more mature self could see way too much of my younger self at her age in her. And I didn’t like that…
Overall though, this book is a classic for a reason. It addresses an issue that not many people thought about back in …
One of my favorites! Been reading and rereading this book for decades!
A Classic, I’ve read it five times, worth it every time
This book does not need another review – however it is one of the very few books I’ve read multiple times – and it grabs hold of me every time. You cannot go wrong with this book – and if you’ve never read it, it is a must.
I’ve read this book probably 8 times over the years. A true classic that everyone should read at least once.
This is one of my top five books of all time. Great story with wonderful characters. This book should be in everyone’s library.
Read it again because a friend was. Happy I did. Great discussions.
My favorite novel of all time. Brilliant.
Still my all-time favorite!
Recently, to do research for my latest book, A HEALING JUSTICE, I re-read TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD so I could remember how Harper Lee, who was a lawyer, handled the court scenes. I saw again how beautifully she writes and how important her message in that story still is. Yet for decades the book has often been banned. It’s been called “immoral,” …
This is one of my top10. Have read it several times over many many years.
I loved this book because of the purity of the characters and their quests for honest answers to life’s questions. It was made into a wonderful film and great stage play. Worth reading at least once.
First read this when it came out, then had the opportunity to teach it in school. It resonates in so many ways for all of us. The last great discussions I had were with a granddaughter. So it has remained the classic it is. It’s easy to read, hard to forget, and full of many thought-provoking memories and associations.
