Harper Lee’s Pulitzer prize-winning masterwork of honor and injustice in the deep south—and the heroism of one man in the face of blind and violent hatred, available now for the first time as an e-book. One of the best-loved stories of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than thirty million copies worldwide, served as the basis for an … enormously popular motion picture, and was voted one of the best novels of the twentieth century by librarians across the country. A gripping, heart-wrenching, and wholly remarkable tale of coming-of-age in a South poisoned by virulent prejudice, it views a world of great beauty and savage inequities through the eyes of a young girl, as her father-a crusading local lawyer-risks everything to defend a black man unjustly accused of a terrible crime.

Obviously this is one of the great classics. I have read this several times and I never get tired of it.
One of my all-time favorites, reread many times A… was the father I never had
A literary classic!
One of the best
Great small-town Southern story seen through the eyes of a child. Lessons of racism and bigotry, love and honor. In this case, the book is as good as the movie – both are excellent.
Very good book. Unfortunately this story is the way it was.
A classic. Every person should read this book! Completely captivating
Also a great play on Broadway.
A true classic
I think my love of the book was inspired by my love of the movie. It is very rare when a movie is as good as or better than the book. This is one of those times when the movie lives up to the book. It is also sad that the actions and feelings of people from a dirt road, rural area do not seem to have changed much in this day and age. Because of …
An american classic that, while it deals with some tough subjects such as rape, abuse, extreme poverty, and racism, should be read by everyone. The characters are great, and the way Lee slowly unfurls the story is wonderful.
Illustrates the life of an outsider with an element of stoicism that similar stories lack. There’s no whining over a difficult situation, not just to survive, but a proactive approach to make things work. I read this because it was assigned, but was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. (Not always the case.) Highly recommended!
This is a great American classic about courage. It’s not just Atticus Finch who displays courage by defending a falsely-accused black man in a deeply racist southern town; it’s also his daughter, Scout, fierce in her attachment to Boo Radley; and Boo, the “slow,” strong man who devotes himself to Scout and her brother Jem’s protection.
Deserving of its status as a classic, it’s a novel I should have read many years ago but somehow never got around to until recently. I’m glad I finally did, and highly recommend it.
A wonderful classic.
A classic American original that has been reviewed by better and more articulate men and women. While I am sure that many on the easily offended left hate the book, pay no attention to them. It is absolutely fabulous and a great accomplishment.
It should be read by everyone!
A timeless classic, with especial relevance today. Serious issues handled so deftly that the book is remarkably easy to read.
True classic. I liked Comes a Watchman as well…but it will never beat the original.
One of my all time favorites!
I reread this book periodically. They just aren’t better written and the story is as relevant today as it was then it was written. The writing is powerful and the character of the book is without peer.
