Voted America’s Best-Loved Novel in PBS’s The Great American ReadHarper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterwork of honor and injustice in the deep South—and the heroism of one man in the face of blind and violent hatredOne of the most cherished stories of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than forty million copies worldwide, served as … the basis for an enormously popular motion picture, and was voted one of the best novels of the twentieth century by librarians across the country. A gripping, heart-wrenching, and wholly remarkable tale of coming-of-age in a South poisoned by virulent prejudice, it views a world of great beauty and savage inequities through the eyes of a young girl, as her father—a crusading local lawyer—risks everything to defend a black man unjustly accused of a terrible crime.

One of my ALL time favorite books!!!
I’ve read this more than once and will probably read it again. A classic and a wonderful read.
A classic. For a reason.
Best
An American classic, memorable characters!
A true classic – still rings true after so many years.
A classic that is still relevant today.
This is one of my all time favorite books
Wonderful portrait of life in the south years ago.
One of my all-time favorites!
A classic that all should read.
One of my favorite books of all times!!
A great book!
I read it many years ago and I liked some of the characters.
Is there anyone who has not read this book? If so, they need to begin today!
Still one of the small number of great America novels. The child’s point of view means that there plenty of ways to read and understand the various elements in the book, including the racism, in ways that can be more complex and more applicable to the contemporary world than might at first glance seem to the case.
After I had my 9th graders read this, we watched the movie: most said they preferred the book. No greater compliment could be given. Through Scout, Atticus, and all the rest, we see glimpses of the real Depression-era America: poverty through a hungry country child; endemic racism in the victimization of an innocent man; nobility in the steadfast honor of one man who teaches by example and through love. It has been named the #1 American novel for good reason. That I had a chance to take it to students is one of my most treasured memories.
Excellent all around! Everyone need to read this book!
My favorite book of all time.
One of my all-time favorites. Scout is the best narrator ever. Very relevant to social justice issues today. Plan to read it again soon (my 3rd time).
