Beatrice Allardyce is too busy for something as inconsequential as marriage. And love? A waste of time when there are so many books to read and a father who needs her care. Getting caught in a compromising situation with the haughty Sir Jocelyn Warfield is not part of her agenda.Intrigued by her intelligence and keen sense of social responsibility, Sir Jocelyn finds himself caught in … fascination’s snare with a female who has to be constantly reminded that he’s not a man easily discounted. Or discouraged. Quite the opposite. All he has to do is make her believe that he’s her best bet.

I loved this book. It was romantic, entertaining, witty, funny and a page-turner. Not like any romantic novel I had before, though it is a Regency novel. The characters are very well-rounded and fun. I could wait to find out what happened to them, then was sad when it was over.
I am a fan of the time period. I enjoyed the characters and plot ( simple but fun). I also like that she brings in characters from previous books in the series
Bored me
Not much of a story. She’s unusual for this time period which was neat. But just as they were getting to know each other it was over.
A fun book (Mills & Boone)
witty
Good statement for all: never give up. Love stories of strong regency women not afraid to be who they are
Beatrice is too busy for something as inconsequential as marriage. There are many books to read, and her father needs her care. She feels love is a waste of time. Beatrice has no plans of being caught in a compromising situation with the haughty Sir Jocelyn “Joss” Warfield is not part of her agenda. Joss finds Beatrice intriguing by her intelligence and keen sense of social responsibility. He finds himself in fascination’s snare with Beatrice as she has to be constantly reminded that he is not a man easily discounted or discouraged. All he has to do is make her believe that he is her best bet. – Joss is serious and kind. He appreciates Beatrice’s intelligence, humor, and willingness to help others. Beatrice is blunt and has been around the ton very little. Joss helps her in that regard, and he is a good communicator. I liked that Joss was respectful and good to Beatrice. They made a good couple. I loved this historical romance and always enjoy an epilogue..
Loved the plot. It was well written and real page turner from beginning to end. A happily ever after story.
I enjoyed this book. I would recommend it for a light enjoyable read.
Cute story
Enjoyable read
Lovely story of an unlikely couple. I love the traits of Beatrice, the honest, open and intelligent woman who can be loved. The right man just had to find her and appreciate what she was. Great love story. Thanks for the epilogue!
2.5 Stars. Ok, but not terribly believable that the actors would act as they did. Meeh.
I found the first few pages sort of corny and was a bit disappointed, but the “rough spot” was quickly overcome. With “jilting” in the title, our heroine could have been very resistant to her wooing, but this was delightfully not the case. She is intelligent and pragmatic, quickly realizes she has not much choice, thus saving the reader from reading endless refusals.
There are quick-witted battles of words, something I especially enjoy, while our H and h grow closer. In contrast with some of the other books in this series, there is no danger or mystery, just a nasty Lady Richmond stirring up a bit of trouble for our heroine.
Such a delightful story.I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I loved the characters, loved the romance. This story made me laugh and smile quite often. I’m so glad I read it.
