Will a city girl and a small town boy find love in this David vs. Goliath story with a side of grits?
An engaging small town romance novel that will appeal to fans of Candis Terry’s Sweet, Texas; Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor; and Ava Miles’ Dare Valley.
Just a city girl, living in a lonely world.
Displaced Steel Magnolia Norah Burke doesn’t know the meaning of failure. But when she threatens to … failure. But when she threatens to blow the whistle on some shady business practices at her Chicago marketing firm, she gets fired fast as all get out. Licking her wounds, she heads back below the Mason-Dixon for a little home-grown Southern comfort.
Just a small town boy.
With his iron-clad Mississippi roots, Councilman Cam Crawford is a man who values tradition, preservation, and the love of a good dog. When a big box warehouse store tries to capitalize on his hometown’s economic downturn, it seriously burns his biscuit. He’s not about to let anyone’s ambition destroy what he holds dear.
A David vs. Goliath story with a side of grits.
This unlikely pair just might be the perfect allies–in war and out. But as the battle to stop GrandGoods heats up and sparks of attraction turn to something more, will Norah’s bigger-picture perspective go with Cam’s “keep it as it is” attitude? Are they meant to be like biscuits and gravy? Or are they just as wrong as un-sweet tea?

Amazing and very well written. The storyline was very entertaining but was also easy to follow along with.
Sweet and thoughtful small town romance.
Loved it! Cam and Nora’s storyline will keep you reading. These wonderful characters along with the other residents of Wishful have me wanting to read the rest of this series!
This book/audio has been combined into a box set in both ebook & audio formats – which is a great deal.
Kait Nolan is my go to for small town romance. Her writing is always a nice mix of fairly low angst, community charm, and a little bit of steam. This book kicks off the Wishful series, and while the sheer number of people introduced was a little overwhelming at first I definitely got to know all the family & residents and find myself looking forward to all their stories. Cam is cousin to Norah’s BFF and sparks immediately fly between the two. Norah uses her marketing skills to help save the charming town from probable devastation wrought by a big box store. I felt like the technical aspects & mundane meetings disrupted the flow of the story at times, but overall I enjoyed the book. I grew up in a small town in the South and could see so many familiar people and business in the town of Wishful.
Amy McFadden does a great job of giving a unique voice to this huge cast of characters. Her voice and tone for “old Southern grandma” was especially spot on and caused me to giggle because I’m pretty sure I went to church with Mamie when I was growing up.
Once I got into this book it was so very hard to put down. It is a wonderful story of small town life and the challenges of living in one. Norah discovers that the company that she has worked her tail off for for years has been using unethical practices resulting in damaging the livelihood of some small towns. She is fired from her job after accusing her employers and telling them that she cannot condone their way of doing business. Norah is now adrift in uncharted territory and so she heads to the one place that feels like home and to her best friend. Shortly after arriving in Wishful, Norah is drawn into the her best friend’s cousin’s fight with a big, box store that wants to build on some sort of special land. Norah can tell that this company is going to do to Wishful what another company did to another small town that she loved. Norah decides to help Cam and the town of Wishful and perhaps she can atone for her part in the other town’s demise.
Cam is the only one that can see Norah for Norah. For the most part, he gets how she thinks and how she solves problems and how she gives 150% of herself to the cause she is working on, but soon after Cam and Norah become an item, obstacles start popping up and they are going to have to figure out if what they have is worth fighting for and if they can save both their relationship and the town.
Great book
It appears I like anything this author writes! I love her characters and their interactions.
I LOVED this book. It was hard to put it down. I can’t wait to read more of Kait’s books.
This very enjoyable romance story is based on returning to a small town to regroup and move on. Norah retreats to Wishful to visit her old friends after getting fired from her high-profile job. What she finds is there’s more to life than doing your best at your job. Cam, a easy going guy who is determined to not let Wishful lose it’s small town feel, finds that he needs Norah more than he needs the town. What must happens to get to that point is beautifully written by Kait Nolan in a good ol’ Southern style.
I just love spending time in Wishful, Mississippi. If you like small-town romance heavy on character development and sidekicks and low on angst and “bedroom details”, I highly recommend Kait Nolan’s Wishful series (or actually anything by Kait Nolan).
I love this book very much. Looking forward to reading more
The Southern charm and witty dialogue kept me wanting more!
I have been provided with a copy of To Get Me to You by the author for an impartial review. This is the first full novel in the Wishful Romance series and I absolutely loved getting to Norah and Cam find their way to each other. This book just had my emotions all over the place and it had me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next. I can’t to read more by this author.
I listened to the audiobook of this story. It was an light, easy read/listen and I enjoyed it. I was drawn to the characters and the story almost immediately. This is the story of Norah, a high powered marketing exec in Chicago who gets fired and she goes back to small town South to visit her best friend. Trouble is brewing in the town and she uses her expertise to assist the town and particularly the ideas of the one town councilman. In helping the town, Norah discovers herself, what she wants/is important, and falls in love. For those that are concerned about sexual descriptiveness, I would rate as moderate for two or three scenes. Personally, while I was not bothered by the level of descriptiveness, I could have easily done without or less descriptiveness and more inference as it wasn’t necessary to the overall strength of the story. Good story and character building and the story made me yearn for a “where everybody knows your name” getaway–although I thought the town name “Wishful” was a little corny (Hope Springs would have been better as that was the name of the natural spring in town). The narration was wonderful and nicely paced. I look forward to reading/listening to other stories in this series. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook at my request and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
I received a free copy of this book. I loved the story line but could have done without a few pages in chapter 13 and then again in the chapter 20 something. I did not need all of the spicy details. The characters are great.
You will fall in love with Wishful and its people while they fight for their town. With the help of Norah, city girl and without a proper family, she will work with Cam, her best friend Miranda’ s cousin, to save the little town and bring hope to their people again. While Cam and Norah find love and happiness. A powerful story about friendship, family, bravery and love.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great not just Nora and Cam but all of them. I wanted to spend more time in Wishful. I will just have to read more of this series to find out all their stories.
Wonderful
What a great beginning to a series. They didn’t get to meet till she came to see her friend again after losing her job. They treat her like family. Between the two they need to save his hometown.
This is book 1 of the Wishful series. In typical Kait Nolan fashion her characters come to life and become part of your set of friends, the ones you want to hang out with on a lazy afternoon or when you need someone to have your back. To Get Me To You is a fun, quick, quirky romance from a true Southern small town where everybody knows your business. If you’re looking for some light reading with Southern charm this will satisfy your craving.
Enjoyed the people in the story.
