To Follow her Heart
A lost love …
Kitty Connolly has spent the whole of the last season assuring her uncle she’s been trying to find a husband, but there’s a problem he is unaware of.
She already has one.
Admittedly, she was only eleven when the ceremony took place in the presence of her family’s dog, and her betrothed was only thirteen. Yet, vows were exchanged and as far as Kitty is concerned, a promise is a promise. Luke Baxter promised to love her till death do him part and he’s not getting out of it.
The problems don’t stop there, however, as Luke disappeared from her life just weeks after their secret wedding, and Kitty never saw him again.
Until now.
Hopes reignited …
When Luke appears out of the blue at the Earl of St Clair’s summer house party and announces his betrothal to lovely heiress, Lady Francis Grantham, Kitty is stunned …
… and honour bound to point out the problem.
One determined heart …
All hell breaks loose when Kitty threatens to sue for breach of promise, but her beloved is in an untenable situation and reminding him what it means to live for love means risking more than her heart.

I loved the young marriage with the dog as a witness, and the vows to each other the young couple shared. It was heartbreaking though, when she finds him, after years apart, planning an engagement to another. You can’t help but feel for a young lady who’s faced with losing the one who’s held her heart for a lifetime.
I love this series and have been really invested in the characters since the beginning and I am always counting the days until the next book is released. When the 10 wallflowers decided that they wanted to search for their dreams but they needed the courage to begin their quests. Each one wrote a dare and put it in a hat – now each one of them will draw a dare from the hat and complete the challenge.
Luke and Kitty are the main characters in this book #4 but the characters from previous and future books are also part of the cast, making it such fun and you really do feel like you are part of the group. Luke and Kitty had a friendship when they were young and promised they would love and marry one day – then they were separated when 2 evil men took Luke away and started grooming him for the title he would inherit one day. Luke could never escape and finally accepted he would never see Kitty again but Kitty never gave up on how much she loved him and they were meant to be together; even after ten years.
When Luke attends a house party at St. Clair’s to announce the betrothal between him and a duke’s daughter; he is shocked to see Kitty in attendance also. Will they find the love they had as youngsters, or has the training for his title changed him, will the rules of society force the marriage to the duke’s daughter? I highly recommend this series to all historical romance readers. Emma Leech keeps you turning pages until the very end!
Love this series! Can’t wait for the newest to come out.
One of my favourite new authors, I always love her stories. Characters are memorable, and each story, though they always have a HEA, don’t seem like the same persons rehashed. Worth the read, as they always are.
I loved this book and hope to read more by Emma V. Leach. This book was entertaining and hard to put down.
This is so well written as are all of her literary offerings. She just never disappoints
This author is one of my favorites.
Will threatening vilains endanger a long lasting love?
I’m reading this series since its beginning and I might say it is getting better and better.
Mrs Emma V Leech crafts lively, full of humor and fleshy characters tales, once you’re in, you can do nothing than turn page after page.
« She had no intention of catching herself an English husband. She already had one. She’d just… temporarily misplaced him. »
Kitty is such a delight to see evolve, sure she is impulsive and reckless but she stands for those she cares for.
For years, she has waited to see again her childhood sweetheart and now she has found him again, she won’t let blackmailers have their way, she steels her bones and stands head held high.
Luke is a kind and caring man on the quiet side, he is not dauntless like Kitty, as she has boldness for two. And he would do anything for her even sacrifice his happiness to ensure she is left safe.
What I love about this series, it is a love story but also a tribute to friendship, how persons come to care for others and make their mission to ensure they are well and protected.
Sure, the romance is the main plot but in mingles the other girls stories, with insight from some of them or the other party.
Maybe I will be wrong, but I do think Mathilda’s tale will be the last in this series, as she is the one to mother this bunch of unruly women. And despite all her struggles, the shadowy presence of the Marquess of Montagu is still looming over her in spite of his absence from this book.
« Dear Lucia, How I miss you, my dear friend. I feel like the mother hen you once compared me to… and all my chicks are determined to get eaten by foxes! ―Excerpt of a letter from Miss Matilda Hunt to Lady Aashini Cavendish. »
I do loved too Jasper, out of Luke, he was the hero of the day, my heart arched for him. He made a mistake he is unaware about, it destroyed his building romance with Harriet and since he is paying a high prize. Why I am not sure about Harriet, as for the moment she is very much a grudge-holder, as Mrs Leech didn’t let her be voiced, I do wonder about what.
But if she handles the matter as much as the revenge plot of Lucia in book 3, I am game.
And I only have a few more weeks before having my answers.
Childhood Sweethearts Reunite In This Charming Story
Few stories about childhood sweethearts impress me as this one did. Luke and Kitty’s young love was extraordinary. It spanned years and remained unchanged, even in each other’s absence as they grew into adulthood. The fact that Kitty was the character dashing headlong into an adventure while Luke was the voice of reason was cute. Luke was noble, tenderhearted, and unfortunately naive. It’s a good thing he had a champion like Kitty to rescue him. The multiple POVs and side stories were distracting, but overall it was a good read.
Kitty’s adventures are delightful and silly. I loved her story. Her happily ever after. So romantic and I loved how devoted to her he was. Great book.
sex
I love this main character. She is outgoing and one of a kind. A fabulous continuation to the series while amping up tension about to explosive between other characters. I can’t wait to read the nest.
This was a lovely tale. Kitty was a delightful character, but Luke had my heart from the beginning. When he finds his strength, nothing can contain its progression until it finds its rest in loving Kitty. A satisfying read, although I found the sexual content unnecessary to to my enjoyment; thus, the four instead of five stars.
Unbelievable but cute
