Olivia Blakesley, self-proclaimed spinster extraordinaire, is quite happy with her life. She has her studies and her duties, what need does she have of a husband? With five sisters married she knows the reality does not live up to the promise, and does not need to personally experiment with the state to know she would be ill-suited to it. However, she finds herself envious of at least one aspect … aspect of marriage. But to experience the physical side of marriage, one doesn’t need a husband, all one needs is the right man…
Nathaniel Jenkins knows his duty. Marry a young girl from a respectable family and father an heir, no matter how cold the endless parade of suitable girls leaves him. But a shocking proposal from a scholarly spinster leaves him wondering if unsuitable is just what he’s looking for. Can he convince his spinster that marriage is the greatest experiment of all?

Great story.
Too much about sex.

This is on Kindle Unlimited, but I ended up with a free copy somehow. Yesterday I was having a hard time picking a book when I scrolled past this cover. It reminds me of the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility (which is the best one…fight me!). Nathaniel and Olivia really are a darling couple. The fun of watching Nathaniel’s campaign …
A strong will female meets a determined male each having a purpose of difference and coming together in the end. One wanting the promise of everlasting and not sure it’s possible. Love the characters, great atmosphere of the era. A very enjoyable read.
Very strong heroine! She was willing to accept her life if she got married or not. And she made the first advances on the male she chose. I give the male character credit for wanting a strong female. Very good story. Writing was very good.
I thought it took too long for the main characters to come together for the finale of love.
Delightful light read with a happy ending!
With five married sisters and plenty of nephews, the spinster Olivia doesn’t feel the need to marry. She would, however, like to experience the mysteries of the bedroom and so propositions a non-rake. This book was delightful and a break from the norm of the typical romance.
All of this authors books have touched my heart, brought tears and made me laugh. I am so glad I discovered her wonderful storytelling
This was a fun read, likable characters, entertaining
A light fast short story that was highly entertaining.
I don’t like books with the male character talking about his private parts reacting. I didn’t finish it.
I used my Sunday afternoon to read it in its entirety because I couldn’t put it down
Things are a lot different now, maybe not! Olivia is a character who wants it all and has the idea she will be a spinster. Maybe not, wait and see.
I enjoyed the entire series and recommend any story written by this author
I liked it. There was a different twist to the usual Regency books.
Kept my interest and was entertaining. Caught my interest on the first page and couldn’t wait to read on. Loved it.
For a short read, it was one much more enjoyable I should have expected.
Usually novella introduces readers to the author’s world but with short sips, it often lacks of depth.
But here, all was perfect condensed, with funny banters.
I loved both main characters plus the family surrounding them, even the stubbornness of Olivia in refusing Nathaniel …
I liked this story. Olivia was very daring. I liked her determination to experience at least once, those parts of life she thought would be denied her for the rest of her years. Nathaniel was perfect in his willingness to give her just what she asked for, while working hard to get her to accept more. I enjoyed the witty conversations.
