Every young woman dreams of marrying a king.Everyone except for me.Because the king I am to wed has razor sharp fangs and a thirst for blood.
All my life I knew I’d come of age during the Hundred Year Reaping. According to the ridiculous treaty, two human girls are sent to the faelands as brides for the fearsome fae king and his devilish younger brother.
Not me. I was supposed to be safe. Two … brother.
Not me. I was supposed to be safe. Two girls were chosen from my village already. But when they are executed for offending the king, my sister and I are sent in their place.
What a mess. Then again, maybe it’s not so bad. The younger brother I’m paired with doesn’t seem as monstrous as I’d expected. He’s delightfully handsome too. But nothing compares to the chilling, dangerous beauty of the fae king. And when my sister flees the castle and her terrifying husband-to-be, I’m left to marry him instead.
If I go through with this, I might not survive my wedding night. If I don’t, no one is safe, neither human nor fae. An ancient war will return, bringing devastation we haven’t seen in a thousand years. Can I sacrifice myself for the good of my people? Or will a dangerous desire be the death of me first?
If I don’t lose my heart, the king will certainly lose his. I’ll carve it out with an iron blade if I have to.
To Carve a Fae Heart is an enemies-to-lovers fantasy, perfect for fans of The Cruel Prince, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and The Iron King. If you like snarky fae, brooding fae royals, sizzling romance, and fierce heroines, you’ll love this breathtaking fae fantasy.

This was a read hard to put down. I just love a good fae story and this book had it all, drama, suspense, betrayal, action and main characters that did not fall in love at first sight but had to build their relationship. Maybe i was too eager for them to get on with it that when it happened i thought: About time ;)- I will definitely be on the look out for the next in this series.

“I was certain height was an indication of human age, but I was obviously mistaken,” Foxglove says.
This was a fast fun read. In my opinion the plot was predictable and nothing really surprised me there.
But I really enjoyed the main character. I loved how she all the way tried to explain magic with science, so it wasn’t really magik at all. Also she is quite funny.
Here is some of her thoughts that made me grinning.
Why the fae give a lamb’s ass about silly human offerings in the first place is beyond me. Besides, do fae even eat? Aside from human brains and the tears of young maidens?
Mother did say my mouth would be the death of me.
Is he trying to kill me? He is. He must be. This isn’t a walk. It’s a hike. There’s a distinct difference.
This is the day I die after all. Not because of some vile fae, but because I’m an idiot
Let him wander the halls or sleep in a closet, or whatever it is brooding fae do when their pride is wounded.
To Carve a Fae Heart (The Fair Isle Trilogy Book 1) by Tessonja Odette is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series written by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about Fae and fantasy.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
This book was such a fun read. The story was great and the romance was steamy. It was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed this book.
I love a good enemies to lovers book. This is more perceived enemies though. Have I read fae stories simular to this before? Yes. Did it hinder my reading? Not at all. It was an enjoyable read with fun characters and great world building. The journey to the main characters bonding was tense and long, but at times was quite funny and endearing, encountering all manner of fae along the way. I’m excited to see new characters introduced in book 2 and what’s in store for those we’ve already met.
I’ve got this book as an ARC for an honest review and as I said to the author my rating is 100 out of 10 !
From the beginning I didn’t really feel good about this book, I mean I loved the concept of it and what was going to happen, but I couldn’t really get into it.
The beginning for me was slow, personally I need something to pull me in BUT from the 30% of the book in, I started to feel the connection to it and also it started to pull me in more.
There were parts of the book when I was so shocked! I couldn’t really believe what happened even if I expected it. I’d love to tell my insight of what exactly it was but I don’t wanna spoil it because you HAVE TO READ IT yourself!
The main character Evie is kind of like Feyre from A Court Of Thorns And Roses, she doesn’t trust Fae nor she wants to have anything to do with them. I love how she wanted an explanation and control over every situation she was in. She never really believed in magic and things associated with it. She is a very relatable person to be honest.
From the half of the book till the end I was looking forward to the end but at the same time I didn’t want it to end because it was amazing and fast!
The book ended with a cliffhanger, or at least that’s what I think. But oh my gosh, I just can’t wait for the next book to come out!
I definitely don’t like myself for taking longer than a day to read this masterpiece! But it was worth it either way

To Carve a Fae Heart (The Fair Isle Trilogy Book 1)
Fae King Aspen and Evelyn
What a story! Drama, deceptions, betrayals and so much more in this book! I loved it!
A thrilling tale of love, deception, magic and a yearning for logic.
I enjoyed the “Beauty and the Beast” elements of the story as well as the incredible worldbuilding. I like the way the Fae Courts, the differences between seelie and unseelie, and the Treaty were described.
Evelyn is fiery and an easy to relate to character. Foxglove is adorable and Lorelei is fierce.
A fun New Adult book with a twist ending.
Can’t wait to start reading book 2.
Trigger warning: violence, gore, sex, questionable consent (Cobalt’s interactions with human women).
What a pleasure it is to read a book that evokes real emotion. The development of both main characters is so convincing, I feel as though I know them. Ms. Odette is so proficient at writing emotionally wound stories that I find myself getting wrapped up completely in the tale. When I find I have no desire to comment on the mechanics of the story but instead on the depth of it, I feel a deep satisfaction that my time has been well spent in choosing to read it.
What a fabulous book! This story has you wanting to keep reading rather then fixing dinner. Compelling with great characters. A fae nation wanting a wife to keep from having war between humans, seelie and the unseelie. Sisters are picked but the first ones picked in one hundred years were killed. Two more sisters were then picked Amelia and Evie to marry a Stag King and his cousin. All hell breaks loose and things that shouldn’t happen – do happen. Do they marry? Read and find out with great writing and characters!
*** I’m volunteering to review this arc ***
Wow! I couldn’t put this book down. Tessonja Odette did a wonderful job on this story. I loved the characters and the story line. Evie (Evelyn) one night goes out to put her offerings to the wall that is between Eisleigh and Faerwyvae. They do this before the Reaping that happens every hundred years. They pick to young women to be married off to the Fae. Evie meets a fae when is ready to leave to go home. She learns that her sister and herself are lucky that they didn’t get picked. She learns that something happened to the first two girls and now her and her sister have to marry the Stag King and Prince Cobalt. When she meets King Aspen she recognize him. She seems to be attracted to him and vice versa. Her sister who is supposed to marry the king has ran away. Now she must marry King Aspen. Someone is trying to take the throne. Will Evie find out what happened to her sister? Will Evie and King Aspen finally go through with there attraction? Will they figure out who wants the throne? Can they save the kingdom of Autumn and the throne in time?
I look forward to the next book.

This book made me remember why I love fairy romances! This book gave me exactly all the same feelings as a Court of Thorns and Roses. Mix it in with a bit of a Hunger Games and Selection. What I enjoyed most though, is that while this book felt inspired from those series, I didn’t feel like it was ripped off from them. There’s too many books now that state “for fans of” but it seems like they’re just copies of the originals. Not this one though. This truly felt inspired, but that I was still reading a new book.
The world is divided into two realms: human and fae. Within the fae world includes all the different courts. I like how this author took it past the courts named after the seasons, and included elements and celestial, making up a large group of 12-ish courts. Each year, two human females get sent to a court and married off to court officials. This year, it’s Evie and her sister after the first set didn’t go so well. They are to wed to the king and the prince.
Both the king and prince have such unique personalities and I enjoy that we got a bit of both of them. The king is the dark one, but not the one Evie needs to marry as she is not the oldest. So she gets the gentler, kinder one of the two. Until something happens with her sister, and now she’s marrying Aspen, the king.
There is so much background to his story, it’s great. First, her being there at all wasn’t really chance. I won’t say anything to this, but I love how Aspen has been wanting her from the beginning. The ending of this book I did not see coming. There were characters involved that took me by a huge surprise and had me on the edge of my seat. On that note, nothing that happened was out of the realm of possibility.
Aspen is designed to be a dark character, but he’s actually really sweet to Evie. Evie is so strong headed and determined, it’s comical but also very enjoyable to read.
I am so happy I gave this book a shot because now I will be looking at more from this author and stalking her for book 2 and 3!
This is book 1 of The Fair Isle Trilogy series. I thought this was a great start for the series. The plot was well written and held my interest from start to finish. I enjoyed the characters and found them well developed. I thought the cover was great and drew your attention to the book. I’m looking forward to the next book and would recommend reading.
Well-Done Fae Fantasy Read
I love a good fantasy or paranormal read, but sometimes finding a good one is difficult. Fortunately, this is one of the excellent ones. The book pulled you right in with the heroine going off to the dangerous border between the human and fae realms. The sense of foreboding is clear, even if she doesn’t want to give in to it. The author does not do an information dump, thankfully, but we are soon made aware that tomorrow is a special day where two young girls will be chosen to become the brides of the king of the fae lands and his younger brother. This is something to be feared, not desired! The chosen girls rarely survive to make it to their wedding nights. While our heroine and her sister are not immediately chosen, they do end up being so after the first two girls are executed. Our heroine is supposed to marry the younger prince, and he doesn’t seem too bad. But then her sister flees (and dies), so our heroine must now be paired with the king to fulfill the treaty and keep their tenuous peace.
The book is perfectly paced, making you keep the pages turning to see what will happen next. The hero is a complex, tortured being who does his best to keep a stoic front, while you know there is much more that simmers beneath. The hero and heroine’s interactions are problematic, especially at first, making part of the fun of the book watching them grow and change independently while they evolve as a couple as well. There are certainly a few steamy scenes, but they aren’t gratuitous and fit both the plot and the characters. This was a delightful fantasy read, and I look forward to reading the next book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Fans of Sarah J. Maas’s Court of Thrones and Roses will enjoy this book. I enjoyed the descriptions of the Fae and the Fae courts. The world building is wonderful and draws you in. I was a little surprised at the end. I’m ready for the next book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow this is a great fae read, one that once you start you will not be able to put down! The storyline is well written and exciting and the characters intriguing and our female mc is just kick ass! There’s action, suspense, secrets and a few twists and turns in this enthralling tale and I am eagerly waiting for the next book!
Interesting plot with plenty of suspense, action and romance. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a crazy enemies to lovers story with some crazy twists and turns I never saw coming. I’d recommend this book.
In Eisleigh, all young women are eligible to be married off to a king. Despite how romantic that sounds, there’s the problem that the bride won’t survive long enough to get to the wedding bed since the fanged king will probably tear her apart. According to the treaty, every 100 years, two human girls are sent to the Faelands as brides for the fearsome Fae King Aspen and his younger brother Prince Cobalt. Otherwise war would again break out. So Evelyn Fairfield (“Evie”) is making her way through the woods to bribe her way to freedom. After her encounter with a stranger, she figured she was safe from the selection process since she was told two girls had been chosen from the village already. But they offended the king and were executed, so Evie and Amelie were sent instead! And when her sister runs away from the castle and her terrifying husband-to-be king, Evie is to marry King Aspen instead. Will she survive? Or is a much different adventure to be found?
This was a wonderful, surprising book. The characters were delightful and their interactions were at times amusing. Even the secondary characters really enhanced the story! There was great chemistry going on as well. I will definitely be staying with this series. It’s one you won’t want to abandon until the very end!
Looking forward to the next book already!
I love stories about the Fae. This one did not disappoint. I was hooked from the start. I can’t get enough I want the next book now haha. I love Evie and Aspen together. They are perfect. I highly recommend this as a must read. It has everything that makes a great story! Lots of secrets and suspense and action and swoon worthy ness!
