Evie Milton knows she’ll never marry. But that doesn’t mean she can’t celebrate her sister’s betrothal to Finlay Stone, Duke of Carlisle. Until the bride-to-be runs off with the wrong man, that is. Going after the chit was his last option. What he never expected was how he’d start to feel for Evie. She’s beautiful, kind, mature…and an entirely unsuitable bride. If only he could convince his heart of that …
All it takes is one spontaneous kiss to scatter their best intentions to the wind. But as secrets emerge and truths are revealed, can Evie and Finlay find their way to happily ever after—or is their wicked liaison doomed to end in heartbreak?

Too thin a story with too much sex
I have read and enjoyed other books by Tamara Gill. Sadly, I didn’t like To Be Wicked With You. The story was thin and disjointed, and the heroine and hero were both totally clueless. You know that the heroine is in trouble with her maid has more common sense than her mistress, but the mistress won’t listen to the advice of her maid/friend. Then there is the sex, with was plentiful.
Content 411: This book contains both swearing and descriptive sex.
I opened this book completely by accident on my kindle and because it automatically syncs to Goodreads I decided to give it a go! Turns out it’s a pretty fun, fast-paced read! I don’t give a romance novel more than 3 stars normally but this one I had to make an exception for!
I definitely recommend this, not very clean, romance novel to all of you!
Predictable tepid story, with outcome as expected. Blah.
Absolutely nothing of the terms above. Regurgitating the same stuff over and over. Flat. Author’s writing as nonsensical as her characters. Just some porn in writing, nothing “vanilla” about it.
Ms. Evie Milton is ready to ignore her attraction to the Duke of Carlisle – because he is already engaged to her sister – Lucy. When her sister goes missing, Evie and Finn make it their mission to ensure her reputation is not marred and safe from the judgment of the ton. Evie and Finn are hopelessly attracted to each other – and have a forbidden kiss.
The chemistry is sizzling but the plot seems thin here and there – Lucy is the sister who believes she deserves the best irrespective of her actions. Evie seems to be compliant a lot and this scenario is fairly common.
I liked Finn’s character the best.
Romance Level :3/5
Steamy Level: 3.7/5
Finley Stone, Duke of Carlisle, lost his father a year ago. Now the solicitor comes with news about an addition to his father’s will. If he was not married in his first year of duke hood, then he had two months to get married. Or he lost most everything. His father was a debaucher and Finn had no respect for a man who would not take care of his own.
Evie Milton is the oldest of the two girls. She stays in London with her friends. She is a spinster at twenty-seven but a nice, sweet girl and she is always happy. But she wishes she had a family of her own. She gets home and Lucy is excited and it seems she is happy marrying the duke. Then when she is alone with her sister, she proceeds to tell her that the duke came to speak about business and ended up courting her. But she loves someone else. What a pickle Evie finds herself in.
I loved the story. Lucy is very selfish but Evie didn’t realize it till now. The duke is very handsome. There are still some fun twists to the tale. I sat up till I finished the book I was that anxious to find out what happened. The author did a great job with the suspense, action, and chasing around after a woman. The ease of the writing helped make the book more entertaining. It was lovely to hear about the countryside and the gorgeous mansions and the houses of those in London. It kept it so interesting.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you.
Great book. Loved the characters, with the exception of one. When you read the book, you will probably feel the same.
Evie Milton is considered a spinster by some because she is 27 and still unmarried. What a scandal. Her sister, on the other hand, is newly betrothed to Finlay Stone, Duke of Carlisle. Unfortunately, she is in love with another, a farmer named Mr. Brown. And she runs off with him causing a REAL scandal it it comes out.
So, Evie and Finley are off to the races, or London, to make sure that Mr Brown does the right thing and marries the twit. And the chemistry between Evie and Finlay is off the charts. You will really enjoy this book.
I received an ARC of this ebook to read and give a honest review. Which this is.
A Duke with an ultimatum is never a good thing. Marriage or lose the bulk of his fortune, the money and any assets, not entailed reverting to his cousin. It also had to be a local girl and the only one he could think of was his neighbor’s younger daughter Lucy. So the courtship began.
Oh but but what a quick courtship it was!
Evie Milton could not believe her sister Lucy would be happy with Finlay, Duke of Carlisle. Visiting her parents and seeing them together, she felt something was off. Oh yes it was when Lucy asked her to try to get the Duke’s attention since she was already in love with a local farmer. Oh what a web we weave! When Lucy does escape, Finn is frantic to get her back before she weds… His time is ticking down fast!
As he and Evie travel to try to find her sister, it seemed a spark began between them.. It might even turn into a flame and then what would happen?
A scrumptious story full of humor, secret longings, a gorgeous duke that at times needed to be shaken and a forever love on the horizon if only they can reach for it. Another amazing addition to the great series!!
Finn is determined to be a man of principle and do what he must protect the people who rely on the prosperity of his dukedom and its properties. When strict and unexpected provisions of his late father’s will force him to quickly choose a bride from a very limited area, he really has to choose between 2 sisters, and he doesn’t choose wisely.
Evie is kind-hearted and giving to a fault, always trying to do the right thing while living her life, at what society deems an advanced age. She goes into things with her whole heart and sometimes it blows up in her face spectacularly, like when dealing with her spoked, immature sister.
I never like to discuss much about plot specifics in a review, because for me part of the pleasure of reading a great book is experiencing the way in which the author wants the story to unfold. But I will say that there were times in this story that I wished I could strangle Finn. This book has sadness and frustration, humor and passion, stunning duplicity and beautiful truth. It was a wonderful read and a quick page turner because you can’t wait to see what happens next! Tamara Gill never disappoints.
This is an unusual romance. The Duke, Finn, under a 60-day deadline to marry a local lady puts an offer to the only one he sees. He realizes his mistake when her older sister comes to visit. Evie adores her younger sister Lucy but can tell things are not right. Lucy runs off with her love leaving Finn and her family aghast. When Finn takes Evie with him to find Lucy to be sure she marries Mr. Brown they fall in love. What to do? Lucy returns only to take advantage of the Duke as her Mr. Brown deserted her. A Crisis is brewing. An interesting story.
Evie Milton is heading home to see Lucy her little sister, she’s engaged to Finlay Stone, the Duke of Carlisle. Evie dance with him at a ball once and thought he was quite handsome and debonair. How did her sister who stays in the country meet him? Where did she meet him, does she love him? Evie arrives home to find her not only engaged to the Duke, but she’s in love with a farmer. Lucy runs away and Finn and Evie chase after her and along the way Finn realizes maybe he chose the wrong sister. Finn is on a time constraint to marry a young woman to keep his inheritance so the chase is on to catch his bride. I love these characters Finn wants a young wife to give him sons, he can’t marry Evie or can he? I have voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing story.
Caught up in her sister Lucy’s shenanigans, Evie Milton tries to make the best of a bad situation when she sets off across the country with the Duke of Carlisle to find his errant fiancé. Much to her chagrin, Evie discovers that Finn has far more charm than she anticipated and the attraction between them escalates as they find themselves in situations that bring them into close contact. The novel is lighthearted and entertaining, although one would have liked to put the capricious Lucy across one’s knee! The story is generally well written and although the plot is somewhat predictable, it is still an enjoyable read. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Ill-informed choices under time pressures lead to a number of conundrums and a carriage ride across the country in a chase for the absconded fiancee. Along the way Evie’s doubts are assuaged and Fin’s sterling character comes to the fore. If you want wonderful characters, a well written story, a fabulous, enjoyable, witty and sexy story, read it to discover and enjoy the rest.
Finn has to marry one of two local girls or loose his inheritance. So, through he liked Evie, he selects Lucy, simply because she’s the younger one.
Evie is happy her sister is going to marry Finn, a prolific rake. Until Lucy runs off and Evie and Finn take off after them. Not sure why Finn was so intent on marrying Lucy, when the obvious answer was just to ask Evie. The. He does a total D move and still wants to marry Lucy, even after being intimate with Evie. That would make family gatherings awkward.
He never seems to chose Evie, who’s pretty much a far superior match.
This is my first time reading something by Ms. Gill and boy have I been missing out! This was such an entertaining and well-written story. Even though I have not read any of the other books in the series, I had no trouble following the story. Evie and Finn were such a great couple and I loved Evie from the start. She’s a strong woman who realized what she wanted and went after it. I eventually felt the same about Finn once he realized he had made a mistake choosing the wrong sister in the beginning. The dialogue throughout the story was witty and very well crafted. Ms. Gill did an excellent job with her descriptions of the characters, the scenes, and the surroundings and really made the story come to life. Plenty of twists and turns to keep me flipping the pages to see what happens next. I absolutely adored this story and am looking forward to reading more by Ms. Gill. I now have a new author to add to my favorites list!
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Patience is a virtue, if you have time. Finlay Stone, Duke of Carlisle, doesn’t have much time to find a wife with some specific requirements if he is to keep his inheritance. As a result, he chooses the younger of two sisters who meet those requirements. He knows and likes the other sister, but decides she may be too old to give him an heir (who talked to him about the facts of life?). When her sister bolts to marry another man, Evie Milton joins Finn in an effort to find and bring her back. Their trip is very interesting, and their attraction grows. What happens now?
This is an entertaining story with twists and turns, adventure, humor and passion. The characters are great. Most of the twists and turns are provided by the rather spoiled and flighty Lucy Milton. Evie is a strong independent “wallflower.” Finn is honorable and trying to do the right thing. Friends from previous books in the series are here and ready with advice. To Be Wicked With You is great read with a fantastic epilogue. I recommend it and can’t wait to read Molly’s story.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. My review is voluntary.
I love Tamara Gill books, and I love this series League of Unweddable Gentleman. This is the 4th book in the series, you do not have to read the other books, but why would you not want to – they are all enjoyable. This book is about Finn who is a Duke whose father put in his will if Finn did not marry by a certain time and to a certain type of lady, he would loose all the money which helps keep the properties. Evie is a wallflower, and the sister of the women Finn decides to marry. I really liked Evie and Finn from the beginning even if at times I wanted to hit Finn . I cannot wait to read the next book in this series and to read about Molly.
I was pleased with the characters and their story in Tamara Gill’s To Be Wicked With You. Finley Stone, Duke of Carlisle, is very dismayed when he finds out his father stipulated in his will that he must marry a local girl within one year of his father’s death. Unfortunately for Finn, his time as a bachelor is almost up. Choices among local girls are pretty discouraging except for the Milton sisters, Evie and Lucy. Finn knows Evie, as the oldest, is already on the brink of spinsterhood, thus he selects Lucy as his betrothed, believing she is more likely to birth an heir because of her younger age. Tamara does a credible job with her description of each of the characters, the surroundings, local customs, standards of behavior, and so forth. I found both Finn and Evie to be likable characters and Lucy’s character was a surprise. Finn was very principled but there were times I wish he had loosened up. Evie had a lovely character. As a strong and independent woman, she thought she would never get married. There were interesting dynamics that took place which I’ll leave for a new reader to discover. I really enjoyed the epilogue for this work. I was fortunate to receive an ARC copy of To Be Wicked With You, which has in no way affected this voluntary and honest review of what I read.
What does a Duke do when he has only two choices for his future spouse? He picks the younger one of course as she has a better chance, in his mind, to produce an heir. What?
Finley Stone, Duke of Carlisle is a rule follower that despises scandal of any kind. His rake of a father happens to currently be controlling his life from the grave. Could there be another side to him?
Miss Evie Milton is considered on the self at the ripe old age of 27. Evie has this habit of putting everyone else before herself. She basically has resigned herself to her spinster fate, even though she longs for a loving husband and family.
Here we have a story about making the wrong choice and dealing with the fall-out. I had a love/hate relationship with this one! I wanted to slap someone upside the head for being slow to act. Then, of course there was that person I wanted to shake the stupid out of for their self-involved manipulative actions. On the other hand, I loved the explosive passionate and romantic moments between the H/h. You could truly feel the connection between them.
When an author can get me to feel/react to their story, they acquire a new fan in me. This was my first book by Tamara Gill and I will definitely be checking out her backlist of work. I also think she has some of the most beautiful book covers.
Readers that like to cheer for a heroine that finally says enough is enough, then, goes after what she wants will enjoy this story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed and advanced reader’s copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5 Stars
Finlay Stone, Duke of Carlisle had a difficult upbringing by his philandering father who now whats to control Finn from the grave too. Finn learns that his father’s will states that if after a year Finn is still unwed then he has sixty days to wed a Wiltshire woman or all unentailed properties will go to a distant cousin. Evie Milton knows she’ll never marry. But that doesn’t mean she can’t celebrate her sister’s betrothal to Finn. Until the bride-to-be runs off with the wrong man, that is. Now, if they have any hope of avoiding a devastating scandal, Evie and Finlay will need to bring the runaway bride to heel.
A well written story that drew me in from the start, I really liked both Finn & Evie who were both attracted to each other & had been for a while but Finn thought that the younger sister would be more likely to give him children. Finn did annoy me at times as he was, if possible, too honourable I would have told Lucy exactly what I thought of her. I found the story to be a roller coaster of emotions, disbelief & anger that a sister could behave like that, sorrow for Finn & especially Evie, frustration for the couple & then joy when matters were resolved. Whilst not my favourite of the series it was still a very good, enjoyable, engrossing read that I read in an evening
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
