Tinsel is Book 4 in the Lark Cove Series. This is a series that you definitely want to read from the start. You will just get more appreciate of the characters and the series as a whole.
We get introduced to Sofia in the very first book in the series and she didn’t give a very good impression. She was very unkind to Thea. Thea and her have come a very long way since then.
Sofia is in Montana visiting her brother to escape the reality of what her life has become. Thea puts her to work in her bar along side her bar manager, Dakota Magee. Who makes it known he doesn’t want her high society self there.
Sofia learns the job duties the hard way but she never gives up. You just have to admire her determination. Along the way she’s trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life. She wants to find purpose, to find fulfillment.
The more determined Sofia becomes the more Dakota takes a liking to her. Neither one is looking for a long term relationship and know that with their backgrounds that a future together is not for them.
What I really liked about this book was learning about Dakota’s heritage and the pressures and prejudice that are still there. He really struggled making his own path. I’m really glad he had his Uncle Xavier on his side.
When it became apparent that Dakota and Sofia had fallen in love it wasn’t the fact that she was rich that was going to keep them from having a future together. It was the fact she wasn’t the same heritage as Dakota.
Will Dakota be able to find a solution so he can have a future with the one he loves?
Tinsel was a bumpy, often heartbreaking ride, but so very worth it. Devney Perry consistently surpasses any and all expectations I have for her, and this book once again left me completely in awe of her storytelling abilities. Sofia and Dakota’s story was intense and painful, and also incredibly cathartic and full of love and healing.
The first introduction to Sofia was rough, both in this book and in the first book in the series, Tattered. She seemed so superficial and self-absorbed, it was hard to see how there was going to be anything likable about her. However, as the story progressed and we learned how little she knew herself, how little she respected herself, and the whys of how Sofia had become the person she was before her fall from grace, it became easier to love and care for her. She may have been financially privileged, but she’d grown up lacking a lot of other things she needed and had sought them out in damaging ways.
Dakota, at first blush, seemed like he couldn’t have been more different than Sofia, but as we got to know more of his story, they were much more alike than I could have guessed. Both of them desperately wanted love and acceptance for who they were, regardless of what their families expected from them. Dakota had a much harder time finding the balance between his happiness and his family’s unfair expectations. His struggle was heartwrenching, but ultimately he discovered what was best for him and watching him take that journey was lovely.
Tinsel is the fourth book in Devney Perry’s Lark Cover series. The books in this series are interconnected standalones and can be read independently. There are appearances from characters in the other books throughout the series, but nothing that spoils previous storylines or takes away from the experience of this book. Tinsel is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Sofia and Dakota.
I love an emotional romance that makes me feel, and Devney always delivers. Beautiful, sweet, breathtaking, I was completely enraptured.
Opposites attract
Small-town romance
Emotional & angsty love story
Happily-ever-after
I first discovered Devney Perry last year and have been devouring every book of hers that I could get my hands on. She is an amazing writer and gives us characters and stories we love to get lost in. And I have been loving her Lark Cove series since the very first book. In Tinsel, we get Sofia Kendrick and Dakota Magee’s story. Both of whom we have met in previous books in the series. This can be read as a standalone, however, I highly recommend reading the entire series as it is so good!
Sofia Kendrick is Logan Kendrick’s sister and she is looking for change. Life has not been very good to her. Granted, she has not always made the best choices either. Spending time with her brother and his family seemed like a good idea. Now she is working with Dakota and that man knows how to push her buttons. Though Sofia was not very likeable when we first meet her, we get to see a different side of her in this book.
Dakota does not need Sofia’s help. He knows how to run the bar just fine and no spoiled princess can do what needs to be done. But she surprises him at every turn. I loved seeing Sofia realize she is so much more than she imagined. Dakota is going through his own issues and struggles as well. Though Dakota and Sofia come from different worlds, they find a connection with each other.
I absolutely loved Tinsel by Devney Perry and this entire series as well. The characters, stories and their journey will captivate you from the start. I loved watching Sofia coming into herself and Dakota strong sense of self. The characters were amazing, and I could not put this book down.

Happy reading!
She keeps doing it! Devney Perry brings us story after heart-wrenching story. Tinsel, this small-town romance. is emotional and gripping, but will painstakingly piece your heart back together in the end. It’s a wild ride for your heart, but can trust Devney for a beautiful HEA every time.
So I’ve gotta admit, when I first saw this was Sofia’s book, I was unsure how I felt, but trusted Devney Perry to deliver a great story as always – let me just say I was not at all disappointed! This book was so fantastically done, one of my very favourites and the absolute perfect way to end this series.
Sofia is a sensitive lost soul, wondering what to do with her life. Dakota is strong, proud and struggling with decisions he made. At times this was a very emotional story, but the relationship between Sofia and Dakota is so beautiful and authentic that I could not put the book down. I’m sad to say goodbye to Lark Cove but this was the perfect ending to one of my favourite series!
This is a story where opposites attract and it’s filled with that angst that I die for! A small town romance with an hea… you know you’re going to get all the book feels! Happy reading!
“ . ’ . ’ .”
Devney Perry keeps breaking my heart and yet, I never question why I put myself through it over and over again. You want to know why? Because even though she puts my heart and soul through the ringer, she ALWAYS puts them back together…sometimes even in better condition than they were before. So remember this when you’re devouring Sofia and Dakota’s story, and your head and your heart feel like they are at war with one another…be patient, have faith, and just know that Ms. Perry will never steer you wrong.
Two people destined for different lives struggle with wanting more, but neither of them can see the other in their future. They try to force it, but it doesn’t become any more clear…until they stop looking towards the future and concentrate on the here and now. With superb and flawless writing, beautiful and heartwrenching emotion, and characters that are so damn easy to fall in love with, you can see why by Devney Perry is a TOP FAVORITE for me. This author has brought nothing but PURE JOY to me through every story, every character, every emotion she brings to light, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

By far, one of my many favorites from Devney Perry. So beautifully written. This is a must read!!
Two polar opposite people who should never fit together, fit together in a way that they could not possibly fit with anyone else.
Oh Dakota and Sofia…. I didn’t know how you were going to play out in your love story. I didn’t know how two polar opposite people could possibly come together. Devney Perry doesn’t make it easy on them or the reader. It is a slow burn full of so many emotions that have you pulling your hair out and wanting to get lost in all the feels. This is a perfect end to the Lark Cove series though I hope that it really isn’t over.
Devney Perry, is brilliant, per usual. You can never underestimate her characters or her writing skills. Well done.
5 There’s So Much More Than Meets the Eye Stars!!!
You know that moment when you start reading a book and you JUST KNOW you’re going to experience a story that won’t leave you the same as when you started the book? Yeah, that’s exactly what happened to me when I started this magnificent story by Ms. Perry.
If you’ve read the other books in her Lark Cove series than you know we’ve met Sophia Kendrick before, and the image I had of this young woman, wasn’t that flattering. But oh my heart, we get such a different view of this youngest Kendrick that I just wanted to hug her. And then, just when she thinks she’s going to have New York society have a different view of her, it all goes to hell and a hand-basket. To get away from it all, she decides to visit her brother and sister-in-law in Lark Cove, Montana and well, things don’t go exactly as planned and she ends up having to spend her time at Lark Cove Bar….
Which left me in a rustic bar, surrounded by peanut shells, while my nieces and nephews played like this was just another normal day in paradise. What kind of fresh hell was this?
While Sophia may have thought of this as the exact opposite of where she wanted to be, meeting Dakota Magee changes everything she knows. This man is the epitome of the man she’s not looking for. He lives in a little town in Montana, he’s not wealthy, with money, he’s a hard worker and he has definite opinions about Sophia. Ah but there’s this little thing call chemistry between them that will only be ignored so long.
I love Dakota with everything that I have inside me. He’s a man of honor, he’s a hard worker, he has this gruff exterior but inside is a man with a heart that is hurting so much and having this woman literally dumped in his lap will change everything for him. He sees something the world doesn’t see when he looks at this beautiful woman that seems so lost….
Sophia’s eyes were a kaleidoscope. Every piece of happiness or shred of pain, she spun for the world to see in those chocolate pools. She didn’t keep anything for herself, no secrets or hidden agendas.”
Dakota is a man that is living with some guilt and regrets and standing for what he wants causes pain for those he loves, but when Sophia comes banging into his life, he now has another reason to keep working so hard. He also sees below the surface of this beautiful woman and getting her to believe in herself in their short time together brings out emotions they both tried to deny. Here’s the thing though, when you find the real thing, you need to hold onto it!!
This book is everything I didn’t know I wanted for Sophia’s story. Ms. Perry has written with so much depth and emotion. I laughed and cried and everything in between. This is one of the things I love so much about her writing…she puts her whole self into her books which in turn allows her readers to really feel everything the characters are feeling and I LOVE that so much!!
Dakota and Sophia’s story is not an easy one, there are definite problems, but will love find a way to bring their worlds together? Letting them truly have their HEA? You’ll need to pick this one up to find out!!
Devney Perry is a magician. I’m convinced because how else is it possible for her to continually write such moving and realistic characters?!
Be bold.
Find your magic.
Chase the impossible.
I was so impressed with Devney’s ability to take a small, side character from her previous book in the Lark Cove series, and give her such depth and emotion. Devney allowed the reader to see beyond the surface of the mask everyone wears. Sofia was the ultimate IT girl, yet she felt alone, isolated, and less than those around her. Tinsel gave Sofia a voice and her character progression is one of the best I’ve read in a long time.
I was so excited to see Dakota!! I wanted a book for him since he was first mentioned in a previous book. The emotions he goes through were powerful and incredibly relate-able.
I have been a HUGE fan of Devney’s writing for quite some time now. Her books are meaningful, beautifully written, and always provide reflection on the reader’s part…at least in my opinion. This is a series not to be missed.
In this Lark Cove installment, we get to spend time with Sophia and Dakota – both characters we have met previously, but don’t know well. I have to admit to being a little skeptical that Sophia would be a character I could embrace after seeing her behavior in Logan and Thea’s book, Tattered.
Ms Perry did an excellent job of creating a situation where not only was I able to embrace Sophia, but I was able to respect her and root for her too. Dakota was more of a mystery character as previous glimpses of him were just that and this was our first time to really get to know him.
Tinsel, as with all of the Lark Cove books, had an element of an emotional issue that needed to be addressed, but this one didn’t feel as weighty as some of the others. The issues definitely had a feeeling of “They just need to get out of their own way” versus hefty emotional scars.
Both Sophia and Dakota were characters that are easy to like. I appreciated the emotional maturing process that brought Sophia into Dakota’s orbit in the first place and how she took some of what she learned while staying with him to complete the process. With both Dakota and Sophia, I felt like some of their family-centric issues were almost brushed away and not fully dealt with. While we saw the relationships struggle and start to improve, I wasn’t sure there was ever a true clear resolution to the wounds both suffered. I felt this most strongly for Dakota and his relationship with his mother and sisters.
Tinsel is a book that I enjoyed reading and while it is technically a stand alone, the continuity of the series is evident. These books are meant to be read in order. I am curious to see what happens for the last Kendrick sibling as well as the town of Lark Cove in the future.
Love, Love LOVE this book!!
Tinsel is my new favorite book by author Devney Perry. I loved this story from the very first pages.
Sofia who never worked a day in her life is the complete opposite of Dakota who works long hours, always taking extra shifts, always striving for more. He wants to earn his dad’s respect and prove to his family that he is a success.
Sofia is insecure and looks for her family’s approval, but she has her eyes opened and is forced to see herself as others see her. She takes stock of her life and grows into the most amazing heroine.
“We’d touched one another’s lives, leaving permanent marks neither of us would ever erase.”
This is not just a story of opposites attracting, but also a picture of two sides of a coin finding the perfect middle ground. Where a compromise is not giving in, it is growth toward the same end goal.
-6 Stars!-
If you’ve read Tattered, you know Sofia Kendrick… and like me, you came into this book hating her.
In Tinsel, you get to see a glimpse of why she is the way she is. You see her background. You see her.
It isn’t until a very public, unfortunate incident sends her running to Lark Cove, Montana and into a situation that she’s unfamiliar with that she discovers who she really is and where she belongs… and who she belongs with.
Devney Perry has a remarkable ability to take this highly disliked character and give her new life. Sofia does a total 180 and becomes a strong and independent woman that we all end up liking.
This is a story about a lost soul, strong family ties, and tough decisions. Dakota and Sophia… there is so much to be said about these two. There are so many emotions. You don’t want to miss the story between these two!
This may be my least favorite Perry novel but I still highly recommend it. Her writing is exquisite and you don’t want to miss any story that flows from her.
When the sparkle is gone…
I don’t think being rich and famous is all it’s cracked up to be. It’s kind of depressing to think that with all the money in the world, you still have to get up at the crack of dawn to exercise. I was a wee bit disappointed that Sophia’s chef mainly made her healthy food. I’d have to wear heels and couldn’t walk out of my house without full makeup and hair styled?!?! Being rich sounds like a nightmare. I’m lucky I was pre-warned of the disadvantages, so I might just have to donate my millions of dollars to charity instead…if I had millions.
I started Tinsel a little hesitantly. Sophia did not leave me with a great first impression…or second for that matter. I couldn’t even say I warmed up to her once I heard her full story, to be honest. She’s just that wee bit too self-absorbed and flighty. Again, like most of Devney Perry’s less likable characters, you can’t help but warm up to them as they go along. Sophia is definitely someone I warmed up to and eventually loved. When her reputation is soured by an article showing her in a less than favourable light, it’s time for a reassessment. What better place for a bit of self-reflection, than Lark Cove. To get herself on track, Sophia puts her trust in Thea to distract her from her problems. Trust is all about sweeping up the nut shells.
Poor Dakota, he definitely earned his wages on the first day Sophia comes to work in the bar. Even I was surprised at her lack of general life-skills. I do not think her parents did her any favour by excusing Sophia of chores. Not knowing how to cook or clean up after yourself is not a good way to be a strong and independent person. Luckily, Dakota is a very patient person and he is willing to show her how to hold his stick…I mean broomstick.
I had quite a few epiphanies as I was reading Tinsel. One of the biggest ones was that we are guided by our parents in the choices we make. Approval or disapproval of a potential partner CAN make or break a relationship. Being brought up in a certain way with your parent’s beliefs, religion or views imparted on you, it’s almost assumed that you will follow that path forever. Sure, I get that our parents are trying to teach us values and hope that we will live bright and prosperous lives, but, we also have to be able to find our own path. Dakota’s issues with culture, history and carrying on the family’s lineage, really felt like he had no choice. I hope that I will remember this in years to come and guide my boys with a helping hand instead of an ultimatum.
I really enjoyed Tinsel a lot more than I expected. Sophia and Dakota do not take the easy road in their relationship and it felt like they had an end date in sight nearly the whole way through. I’m glad they eventually made their way to happiness but, geez, they put each other through the wringer with all of their separations.
The storyline kept me entertained from start to finish, the characters were original, far from perfect but perfect for each other, and the steamy times definitely made my heart beat harder. There were a couple of times that I was frustrated with Dakota and Sophia for not putting their love for each other first. I was fascinated by getting a glimpse of life on the Reservation and learning about how a Tribe lives together as a community. Sophia’s extravagant lifestyle wasn’t that appealing to me and I’ve decided that I would definitely live a different life if I had millions. Sure, I would love more money in my bank account but it’s obvious to me that money doesn’t buy you happiness.
If you haven’t read a Devney Perry story yet, DO IT!! Lucky for you, she’s got a stack out now so you are spoilt for choice. I highly recommend the Lark Cove series and Tinsel was a great addition.
5 Amazing Stars!
Oh My Goodness! Sofia’s story was even more perfect than I imagined. Always being seen as a “spoiled” baby sister to Logan this story could’ve taken a lot of different turns but what Ms. Perry has given us is a believable, beautiful and heart wrenching tale. Sofia and Dakota both go through struggles and life changing decisions throughout this story. By the time you finish this book you will feel so many things and will know there is no doubt this will be one of the best books to be released in 2019!

“Be Bold
Find Your Magic
Chase the Impossible”
Those phrases perfectly represent Tinsel and the story of Dakota and Sophia!!!
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I heard Sophia was getting her own book. I wasn’t drawn in by her character and I wasn’t really sure how much I liked her. But I am so glad that this story was told and I absolutely LOVE both Sophia and Dakota!!
This is the 4th and final book in the Lark Cove Series by Devney Perry. This is a standalone novel but I would strongly recommend reading the other books in this series and reading them in order. You will get a better understanding of the Kendrick family and all the people who live in Lark Cove. It is told in Dual POV. Which was the perfect way to tell their story.
I thought this was an emotionally charged story. It is an opposites attract romance. Two people from different worlds, who are learning to find themselves. I thought this storyline was captivating and held my attention until the very end.
In this story we follow Sophia and Dakota. Sophia is the youngest sibling of Logan (From Tattered Book 1) and is known as the family princess. After a scandal that involves Sophia happens to her in New York she decides to head to Lark Cove and visit her brother. Little did she know how that visit would completely change her life. Dakota works for Thea (Sophia’s sister in law, married to Logan) at the Lark Cove Bar in town. Little did he know that “babysitting” Sophia would change his life completely. I loved watching these two characters grow and develop their own lives. Can these two find their correct path?? Will they be able to get their HEA?? Read Tinsel to find out.
I thought this was the perfect ending to this series. I felt it completed all the couples stories. Although I am hoping that we get some little story or something for Aubrey 😉
I would 100% recommend Tinsel to all romance lovers. But don’t just read Tinsel, pick up the whole Lark Cove Series….You won’t be sorry.
Webster defines talent as “a natural aptitude or skill”. That sums up Devney Perry, and her story telling ability. Pure, raw talent with each book she pens. Devney was my favorite author of 2018 and she is maintaining the title in 2019 with her first book of the year, Tinsel.
Sofia, a spoiled, little rich girl that has never worked for anything in her life. She’s had the world given to her on a silver platter with no expectations from anyone other than being a “princess.” But one can only live in a fairytale for so long before reality sets in. The realization that she has not done anything with her life. The realization that somewhere along the way superficial falls to the wayside and realism sets in. Realism isn’t always pretty and the idea of who you are or what you have become settles in.
Dakota, a gruff, hardworking man that’s chosen a life his family does not approve of. One that falls outside of their traditions. But Dakota’s determined to be his own man. Following the path that appeases him ostracizes him from the culture he is expected to follow. Yet, he chooses to walk to the beat of his own drummer. He’s made a decent life for himself, been a loyal employee, but remains on the quiet side of life.
The thing that is so amazing about Devney is she brings couples together without all the pomp and circumstance. They don’t meet us falling head over heels. They meet us where they are in life, and it’s usually in a bad/or sorrowful place. We watch them grow and we as readers grow with them. Devney’s stories are not beautiful. They are not filled with the fantasy of myths. They are real people, fighting the realistic battles of life.
I never thought the impossible could be made possible, but Devney has taught me it can be. I did not think it was possible for her to improve on previous stories, but each book gets better and better. With Tinsel, I found myself laughing out loud one minute, and sobbing like a baby the next. At one moment I would be angry enough to choke someone and in the next I am filled with love and joy.
I hate to see the Lark Cove Series end, but I know with Devney there is so much more to come. There are so many more stories to tell. There is so much more love to be discovered and there are so many more stars to be earned.
