This book had so much heart! I never thought that the author could fix Sofia Kendrick, she was so horrible in Thea and Logan’s book. And yet, as soon as I started reading the first chapters, I changed my opinion on her. Sofia is the epitome of the poor little rich girl. Raised in a household where her two older siblings were such high achievers, with a drive and determination to follow their workaholic father into the family corporation, there was little left for her to do but to become a decorative person. She was an influencer, a socialité, living a shallow, fruitless life because that is what was expected of her. Yet, beneath the finery and the sophistication, there was a little girl who wanted to be seen, to be heard, and to be appreciated.
After a public relations nightmare where she was vilified by a fashion reporter, her world crumbled, her self esteem imploded, her reputation in shambles. She escaped to her big brother’s house in Lark Cove to hide and lick her wounds. She did some introspection and felt that she had no purpose in life like her siblings did, nothing important to achieve and to be recognized for. She was really feeling on the bottom of the world.
Then her sister-in-law Thea had a brilliant idea to help her out: she left her working in the Lark Cove bar and flew out with her husband on a ten-day vacation to Paris. This was like a sink or swim situation and it says a lot about Sofia’s heart that she didn’t throw a tantrum, didn’t escape running, and didn’t go to bed to cry her woes.
Dakota Magee was in charge of the bar. He worked all the hours he could get because he was developing a real estate business and needed the money to buy and restore houses. Like Sofia, he was torn, but in his case, he was torn between the demands of his family, who wanted him to live in the Blackfeet reservation, become a person of worth in their world, marry and have children who continued their legacy. All his life he felt oppressed by the expectations of his father and he wanted to be free, to make money and be able to travel the world.
So you could say that this was the meeting of two needy souls who gave each other redemption, purpose, and acceptance. Nobody saw them like they did the other, or their need to be worthy to their family and their anguish at not being enough.
There’s a lot of chemistry in this book, but above all, there was heart. I loved to see Sofia evolve from a crumbly woman into a self-assured woman and finally into a purposeful woman. Their story was a rocky road full of pain and triumphs and I loved, cried and laughed as I read it. A truly masterpiece of the heart!
Tinsel is the fourth and final book in the Lark Cove Series written by Devney Perry. I am so sad to see this series end. I love the way Devney writes it gives you all the feel good feelings. She has such a way with words that keep you engaged from the first page to the last. Her books just keep getting better and better. Devney wrote this book in such a way that if you disliked Sofia in tattered you loved and rooted for her in this book. I don’t know how she does it but once I start one of her books I can never put them down until I turn the last page. What and ending to this awesome series everything tied up very nicely. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next. I highly recommend this book.
Perfect Ending to a perfect series
This book was moving, maddening and just plain perfection. I’ve loved every book in the Lark Cove series but Sofia really stole the show. The pacing of this book was so perfectly done that I honestly felt like it was much longer and Fuller than any of her other books. Sofia and Dakotas journey to find who they are to themselves before each other was truly beautiful and full of perfectly balanced angst. That epilogue had me in tears as Devney tied up every book with a perfect little bow. You need to read this and every book in this series, you need a little Lark Cove in your life.
Definitely my favorite of the series! Dakota and Sofia burned up the pages. Their connection and chemistry so strong and scorching hot! Both struggling with their past and identities, but know that when they’re together they feel complete. It’s a story about growth, passion and acceptance. I highly recommend this must read!
Wow! There are not enough words for me to explain how much I loved this story! I am a huge fan of opposites attract and this is one of the best I’ve read. This author writes some of the best romance I’ve ever read, the kind that has your heart beating and gives you butterflies while reading. Anyone who loves a good romance should read this book! Sofia and Dakota are everything!!!
I am so sad this is the last book in the series.
Tinsel was amazing, sweet, hot, cute I could not put it down!
I just can’t pick a favorite couple, but Sophia and Dakota will always have a special place in my heart!
Devney Perry is one of my favorite authors of all time! She writes perfection and every book she publishes is better than the last. She is an inspiration! Thank you for giving us Lark Cove, a beautiful and perfect place to love. Forever!
Tinsel is the story of Sophia and Dakota. We met Sophia in book one (Tattered) as she is Logan’s sister. She’s the princess of the family. We find out that her life is not as enchanted as it appears to the general public. She escapes to Montana for some time away and meets Dakota, an employee at the Lark Cove Bar owned by Thea (Tattered – book 1) and Jackson (Timid – book 2). I love how Dakota sees past the beautiful shell to the lovely woman underneath. He struggled with his identity, too, being Native American and facing pressure from his family to marry another tribe member. Such a good story of fighting against stereotypes and expectations to find your own happiness. I highly recommend this book and this series. I have read all of Devney Perry’s books and I truly think each book gets better than the last. Excellent read!
Devney Perry’s books just keep getting better! Sofia was not a character that I felt I could identify with when she was introduced in Tattered; in fact, she wasn’t really all that likeable when you think about the way that she treated Thea and how she acted like a spoiled princess. But Devney Perry did a phenomenal job of giving Sofia the opportunity to redeem herself. And that Dakota was a big part of her inspiration to make herself a better person. Dakota was such a deep character, and I couldn’t help but feel for how he was torn between his desired and his obligations.
Tinsel was a success for me! I will miss the Lark Cove gang!
Tinsel is once again another fabulous book by the amazing Devney Perry! It’s focus is on Sofia Kendrick and Dakota Magee. Sofia is the character you love to hate, the spoiled rick princess. Dakota well he is just like all the other male characters Devney writes, an intriguing hot alpha man (which we all love). I adored this couple, it didn’t take long for these two to grow on each other. Through some of their roughest times, they finally realize they were meant for each other. But will they make it work for forever? To find out you need to read Tinsel ASAP!!!! I will admit I did get teary eyed a few times. I absolutely LOVED this book and I’m very sad that it is the last one in The Lark Cove series!
What a great story with a unique storyline! Well written with great dialogue and descriptions, and I loved the kind of personal growth both characters found. I loved all of this series, but I think this might be my favorite!
NEW RELEASE: An emotional & angsty love story from Devney Perry!
I hated Sofia from the earlier book in this series and was unsure if I would like her character. As all ways, Devney wrote a great book and made me feel sadness and joy for Sofia. I am sad that this series is done but looking forward to more books from Devney in the future. Read this book you will not be disappointed. Sofia character shows a lot of growth due to her relationship with Dakota.
What a fantastic, heartfelt and beautiful love story. Sofia and Dakota had a rough road to travel to their HEA but it was so worth it. They seemed to be opposites when really they were so alike at their core. Sofia was so wonderfully written, I felt all her emotions with her. Dakota’s struggle with his families expectations was so heartbreaking. Their struggle to be free to live free and shine bright was very real. I can not recommend this enough and I am really sad to have to leave Lark Cove.
Sofia and Dakota are opposites in nearly way, but absolutely kindred spirits. Their largely different backgrounds, her as a New York socialite and him as a Native American bartender, may make it seem like they have nothing in common, but they find common ground in being a disappoint to the respective families. Both break the mold of what is expected of them and recognize the spark in each other for one of the most epic epilogues since the conclusion of the Jamison Valley Series.
Devney brings all the feels – love, laughter, heartache, grief, joy, and more – to this couple and we get to revisit the other couples of Lark Cove in this beautifully written finale.
I can not remember having the anxious anticipation of any book like I did with Tinsel. I can’t say enough good things about this author, this series and this particular story. All of the waiting was worth it because it did not disappoint. It was beautifully written. I loved the characters as well as visiting with characters from previous books. It feels like visiting old friends. The epilogue was beautiful and perfect. It was more than I had even hoped for.
Devney Perry, Lady This Book Got me through a very very Tough week. I want you to know that this Story was so Brilliantly Written. It was intriguing, emotional and thought inspiring. Inspiring because we always judge a book by its cover, yet we know looks can be deceiving. You show that even when you have money it doesn’t mean you are happy…
The Prologue Fucking had me take a deep breath, I knew just by that Prologue that this was going to be an amazing book and you as Writer was taking me on a Phenomenal Journey.
I have to be honest that Sofia wasn’t my Favourite Girl but, a very BIG BUT you worked your magic and for me this was your best Heroine in this series.
She is such a beautiful, misunderstood girl. She looks for love and acceptance in the wrong places, ppl use her because they see her Yearning and thats what I identify with. My daughter is so similar. So I understood Sofia’s Loneliness and her need to be accepted as well as recognisedit. I wanted to defend her and hug her like I do with my girl but you showed me that with my support and her knowing her family loves her she will Fly High one day.
Dakota is so perfect yet I still wanted to gut punch him many times. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE him.
At times I understood him and the pressure he felt by his parents and family. He also worked hard to show his family he could make it outside from the world they were imposing on him.
This story is beautiful and breathtaking. Its heartbreaking and will have you wanting to turn the page as fast as you can. The side characters we dont get much of but Xavir was an amazing Uncle and sometimes a better dad than Dakotas dad was. I’m glad he helped him and gave him excellent advice.
Dakota and Sofia together will set your panties on fire. Their chemistry is palpable and real. Their sexy time was of the charts.
Im so damn ecstatic that they got a HEA… I’m thrilled that Devney took a character I had no Interest in and made her the Heroine of this book, this book that was undoubtedly one of the best books written ever.
Enjoy thes Wondrous Read Ladies and Im sure we all are heartbroken this series has come to an end….
Devney Perry has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and Tinsel is the latest addition to my keeper shelf. It is a sexy, memorable and complex love story brimming with thought-provoking poignancy. Sofia has spent her entire life plagued with self-doubt and has compensated by attempting to embrace the lifestyle that was expected of her – that of a frivolous and wealthy socialite. But she’s never been particularly happy with this version of herself, and she’s forced to confront her choices when a newspaper article stripes her bare. She escapes to her older brother’s home in a small town in Montana and begins a difficult but necessary journey of self-realization. She never expected to also find love with a man, who is her opposite in many ways. Dakota is extremely hard working and definitely not wealthy, but he is also questioning his place in the world as he wrestles with his family and tribe’s expectations as member of the Blackfoot people and after growing up on a reservation. He and Sofia come together quickly with a consuming passion but also slowly develop a quiet and supportive understanding, and this beautifully-written, nuanced romance makes you think as much as it much as it entertains you.
ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
Readers who are familiar with Devney Perry’s Lark Cove series know exactly who Logan’s younger sister, Sofia, is because we met her in Tattered, and I wouldn’t be surprised if many went into Tinsel, Sophia and Dakota’s story, with a less than stellar opinion of her after the antics she pulled in book one of the series.
But that’s exactly why I love characters who become main characters after they’ve been introduced in a secondary role in a previous book because what I’ve learned is that a first impression is just that – one small glimpse into who that person is and what makes that person tick, and while the circumstances surrounding Sofia’s mistreatment of Thea were uncalled for, portraying Sophia as a petty and spoiled little rich girl, when I saw that she would be the heroine in Tinsel, I just knew that there was a whole other layer of who she was and I couldn’t wait to see how her love interest/hero would help reveal exactly who this misunderstood and underestimated woman is beneath her expensive exterior.
Lark Cove is a definite change of pace for Sofia and her amenities as well as the expectations of her are beyond different to what she’s used to, but that doesn’t mean that she thinks she’s better than the residents of Lark Cove or that it’s beneath her…it just means that she’s never had to rely on herself to accomplish daily living tasks, and now that she has to, she’s a work-in-progress but the idea that she’s willing to learn…willing to make mistakes…willing to prove to everyone around her that she’s more than her looks and her no-limit credit card.
‘It was time for me to do more with myself than stay a career socialite. It was time to stop being the superficial, petty, and naive woman who’d been portrayed as nothing more than tinsel in that magazine article.’
Everyone had an idea of who she should be, of what she should do, but she’s not like other people – she is who she is, and while she did have some growing up to do and the new version she was creating of herself was still under construction, she was finding herself…she was finding her passion and that’s all anyone can ask for from someone who they love.
Sophia and Dakota may come from very different worlds, but the fact that they listen to one another and support each other is all they need to make a relationship grow and work; it’s amazing where their attraction and connection take them after their initial interaction. But like Sophia, Dakota has some baggage of his own that must be dealt with and he’s still finding his own path in life – one that has his family and their traditions as not really points of contention but just a difference of opinion when it comes to where Dakota should be and who he should be with
I really enjoyed Sophia and Dakota’s story, and even though I usually hate time gaps – even if it’s just a few months or a bit more – I truly felt like those gaps between them being together, given that they don’t live in the same state, went along with the idea of both of them trying to find their true selves…their happiest selves – the ones who know what and who they want and aren’t ashamed or afraid to say so.
Be bold. Find your magic. Chase the impossible.
These are great pieces of advice and the fact that they all describe the main characters in every single story in Devney Perry’s Lark Cove series makes it just a bit easier to say goodbye to this group of fabulous characters and their beautifully told stories.
4.5 Poison Apples
This was a bittersweet ending. I’m sad to see the Lark Cove gang go- but I’ve enjoyed each and every one of these books. Tinsel was no different. Sofia was judged from the beginning, yet from the very moment we met her, I needed to know more. I wanted to see her get her HEA. And after finishing this book, you really got into her head and dissected who she was, and who she wanted to become. I couldn’t help but be her champion- rooting her on every time I sat down to read. I also enjoyed the fact that Perry doesn’t just have the typical “meet cute, they fall in love, it’s all roses, the end.” No, she makes you work for it, especially in this book. And in the end, it was well worth it. The love story between Sofia and Dakota is one that will stick with me. I also really liked how the author stuck in other elements from previous couples, as well as a new one. Everything was tied up with a beautiful bow. Only the second book of the year for me, and hands down a 2019 favorite. Goodbye Lark Cove Gang, I’ll miss you!
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this small town romance with a swoon-worthy HEA. Get yours now!
