I love a small-town romance and this one pushes all my buttons!
Give me all the opposites attract books. Also, I can never get enough of Devney’s small towns. Love this one.
Devney Perry has a new one! She writes the kind of angsty, emotional romance that pushes all my buttons. The big city girl who finds herself in a small rustic town is my catnip!
Expressive, emotionally charged, and deeply felt—Tinsel is the fall and rise of one woman!
The traits for Devney Perry’s characters do not go unnoticed as each one is just as fascinating as the ones that came before. Devney took a character I undoubtedly loathed with every fiber in my being and transformed her into someone I grew to love with every flip of the page. Sofia Kendrick is a spoiled rich princess. Or so we thought. Crown aside, Sofia is a little girl who never got the same attention as her older siblings. She’s misunderstood, searching for acceptance, wanting love, broken from the past, and a woman without her passion. To my core, I felt for her, and I hurt for you. I cried for the woman I once saw as a villainess! Sofia’s escape from the big city to Lark Cove, Montana puts her on a path of healing and as she travels the road of self-discovery she uncovers the truth about herself—there is strength in her tears and power in her vulnerabilities.
Dakota Magee, though estranged from his family traditions he is still very much haunted by them. As an American Indian his life was planned for him from birth, yet rooted in Dakota’s marrow was the desire to fly free of the ties to his tribe’s reservation. The freedom he seeks causes a rift between him and his family, one that grows wider every day he doesn’t return home. Dakota’s battle isn’t with the opinions of other’s. Instead, his war is with his perception of himself. Sofia Kendrick and Dakota Magee were an unexpected pair. Two people from two separate backgrounds with completely different lifestyles, yet they found a home in one another.
This woman—which I shouldn’t be surprised by now—has an extraordinary talent that only seems to showcase the development of her writing with each novel. Descriptive and imaginative, Devney Perry not only reveals the settings within the story beautifully but she pens characters that scream home while creating a feeling of comfort in her small towns that keeps readers, myself included, coming back book after book after book!
Devney Perry captured my heart in this sweet, sexy, emotional small town romance! I couldn’t get enough of Sofia and Dakota and their steamy love story, not to mention that Dakota is swoon worthy times a million. An absolute must read!
Once again Devney Perry reminds me of the power she has as a writer to make me feel so much all at once. Tinsel was the story that brought the depth of the characters out into the light. Their struggles. Their conflicts. Their insecurities and their differences. Not all the characters are the same and each have a story to share. It’s just so amazing and wonderful!
Sofia Kendrick is the character you love to hate. When I first meet her in Tattered, I couldn’t stand her and I really wanted to slap her in the face. Watching her in Tinsel and seeing how her family and society portrayed her as this spoiled rich princess was heartbreaking. Yet, she rose from the ashes to prove she can be somebody of worth. Though she struggled to find herself, she wasn’t useless.
Then we have Dakota Magee. Gosh, I love all the men of Lark Cove. They’re all so special and Dakota was no exception. He’s an intriguing man. An enmiga. He fights his own demons and struggles. Being an American Indian and not following in his families traditions is his burden to bear. He wants so badly to make his family proud and for them to understand him.
Together Dakota and Sofia, were a force to be wrecken with. So different and from completely different paths in life, their relationship begins as a ten day fling that grows into so much more. These two had to overcome many obstacles and really find themselves. It was passionate. Their chemistry explosive and awe-inspiring. I was immediately drawn in and couldn’t let go. I rooted for them every step of the way!
Tinsel was perfection. A great ending to a magnificent series. Sexy, sweet, emotional, life changing, and breathtaking. With that final note, I will miss this series and these characters so much. This is not a goodbye, but a see you soon!
“Be bold. Find your magic. Chase the impossible.”
I’m OBSESSED with this series! This is an emotional opposites attract story that will give you all the feels!!
Oh my gawwwwddddd!!!!!! I can’t believe it’s over. This simply CANNOT be the end of Lark Cove. Can it?! I mean, if it is, it’s definitely been sent off with the perfect ending and closure for all. No loose ends, so to speak.
Sofia Kendrick, the spoiled, rich princess, right? WRONG! Well, right because she is, but she isn’t. Not really. She’s got so many different layers, every chapter reveals a new one! Even with the enormous trust fund keeping her posh, she’s the proof that money can’t buy you happiness.
All she’s ever wanted was love and acceptance. That’s it. But what’s she gotten instead? A family that ignores her, two failed marriages and superficial “friends” that aren’t there when she needs them. So, after her world is thrown for a loop, she escapes to where no one knows her…Lark Cove.
Dakota Magee, flaming hot bartender at her sister-in-law’s bar was not exited to learn he had a new helper while the boss when on vacay. In fact, showing Sofia the ropes was absolutely the last thing he wanted to do. But, it didn’t take long for the two of them to grow on each other.
I adored this couple so much! They opened up to one another and the story just flowed. The love was always there, just took them a while to recognize it. Through some of the roughest life moments, they finally realize what they are to each other.
But will it be enough to make it work forever?
GAHHHHH! While I didn’t “cry, cry” I did find myself teary-eyed more than a few times. I could feel the love and heartache this duo endured. I love, loved it!
An emotional/angsty small town romance with a lovely happy ever after!!
Stunning! This whole series has been a phenomenal ride and Tinsel is just as beautiful as the cover. So much romance and swoon but of course there’s that patented heartache that Perry throws your way (always worth it tho!)
A powerful love story between two people from different walks of life. Utterly romantic and pure perfection.
Beautiful, emotional, angsty small town romance!
Tinsel is another fabulous book by Author Devney Perry. Her books capture everything an extraordinary book should have. Her words and books have permanent places on my bookshelf and are forever tattooed on my heart. Her stories are the kind that demand rereads and have you thinking about them out of nowhere from time to time like you would about an old friend. You become that invested and enamored with the characters. She creates amazing fictional worlds and characters.
Sofia agrees to interview for a magazine article along with several other Manhattan heiresses. She expects the article and her picture perfect cover picture to paint her in a favorable light. It does the opposite and makes her seem shallow and materialistic, like window dressing and tinsel…just to be looked at, but lacking substance. It shatters her already thin self confidence. She escapes to Montana and meets Dakota…
Dakota and Sofia are two people from two totally different worlds that are inexplicably drawn to each other. Neither wants to act on their attraction, but can they help themselves?!
Devney Perry is an Author I want everyone to know about. This is an Author that everyone will know about. This author’s flawless writing speaks for itself and readers are flocking to her.
The ending…gah…the ending!!! It ties the whole series and all of the characters together. It is beautiful and made me cry happy tears!
An angsty and emotional opposites attract story? I almost sprained my finger one-clicking this one! Grab it now!
A charming small town romance that has it all! Amazing book!
Small town romance…check.
Opposites attract…check.
Emotional and angsty….check, check, check.
There’s just something about a small town romance, and Devney Perry does it so amazingly well! I keep hearing amazing things about Tinsel, so move it up your list and read it now!
Ahhhhh this book. There’s nothing else I can say other than you need to buy it!
Devney Perry has shot up the list of my favorite authors with her deeply emotional writing, her interesting and unique characters and her consuming love stories. She crafts such richly developed stories, vividly describing all the little details that really bring the setting, the story and the characters to life for the reader. She slowly peels the layers back on her characters in a way that truly gives the reader the chance to get to know them. Threading in a suspenseful edge to her storytelling, she brings it all together with intriguing, engrossing two-pronged plots where the suspense arc is just as compelling as the romantic arc. She pulls me into her worlds right away, and I hang on every word. Intense emotion paired with a realistic plot and relatable characters make hers the kinds of stories that not only capture my attention immediately but also hold it the whole way through.
Readers of the Lark Cove series will recall meeting the spoiled princess of the Kendrick family, Sophia, in Tattered. Vapid and shallow, stuck-up and judgmental, she was the kind of character you couldn’t help but dislike. She may have been wrapped up in pretty packaging, but it did little to disguise the person she was beneath. I’ll be honest, I went into this book wondering how–if –Perry could redeem this character for me. Not only did she, and she did it quickly and in a way that, unbelievably, made Sophia Kendrick one of my favorite heroines. In fact, it didn’t take long before I was not only rooting for her, but I was also relating to her.
Sofia wasn’t merely knocked down a peg or two, she had a sorely needed rude awakening that opened her eyes to the woman others saw in her. That brutal experience shook her to her core, and she fled New York for the safety and anonymity of her brother’s home in Lark Cove. This trip didn’t turn out to be the wound-licking escape that she was anticipating, however. In a dose of tough love courtesy of her sister-in-law, Sophia is served up a heaping helping of reality with a generous side of humility. But it was Dakota’s gentle yet direct guidance, not her brother’s, that led Sophia through this tumultuous time. It was his encouragement that set her on the path to finding herself and discovering her passion, which gave her the tools and the courage to reinvent herself. Sophia’s truly genuine soul-searching process was so authentic, and her transformation to an unpretentious woman was incredibly natural.
Dakota McGee was a wise, proud and sexy alpha hero who had his own soul-searching journey to travel. What set Dakota apart from everyone else in Sophia’s life was the fact that he was the only one who saw beyond her carefully constructed façade to the lost and floundering woman beneath. Theirs was much more than just a physical attraction, although that definitely sizzled between them. They connected almost immediately, and I got lost in that right along with them. From two vastly different worlds, they both struggled with what they were feeling, yet their longing for one another and a future together was a palpable thing. The problem was they both had a hard time seeing beyond their differences, and while they were at opposite ends of the spectrum in a lot of ways, they were on the same page in others. This was a couple who cared very deeply for each other, but those differences and their real-life situations kept getting in their way, making it heartbreakingly difficult for both Sophia and Dakota to see beyond them to what they could be.
Devney Perry’s Tinsel was a complex, layered and moving love story that was teeming with emotion and punctuated with difficult choices and sacrifices. While there was definitely some heartache to be endured before getting to the happily ever after, Dakota and Sophia’s story was a sexy, complicated, heart-tugging journey about overcoming obstacles to find redemption and true love. The entire Lark Cove series has been fantastic, but this story, the series finale, surprised me at every turn. Five smooches from me for Tinsel by Devney Perry!

To be honest, I wasn’t sure how Devney was going to have me come around to Sofia aka Logan’s younger sister, who we get quite acquainted with in Tattered. But my goodness, she did it and I was there for all of it. Devney is the reason why I love small-town romances so much. She definitely writes my favorites with how she weaves a beautiful and emotional story that you’ll always remember. We have two very different characters set on different paths all while hoping a path together would be one they can walk on with each other. Everything about Tinsel was perfect with the characters, story and most of all the timeline of events that Sofia and Dakota go through before they get their happy ever after.
With every story that Devney has put out in this series, they’re all unique and emotionally charged. She definitely has the ability to turn to love characters that I wasn’t exactly keen with aka Jackson and now, Sofia.
From the beginning, you got to admit that your heart hurts for Sofia and the lack of attention she received as a child. And all of that stayed with her until she became an adult and went through an eye-opening and embarrassing ordeal. Fleeing to Montana instantly was her best bet and is given the chance to find her purpose doing something she’s never done a day in her life; work.
Dakota begrudgingly takes on the “new employee” at the bar, the girl that has never had a job or worked, ever. With only 10 days together, he’s definitely not looking forward to it, but was pleasantly surprised to see how determined Sofia was to get something done or to just learn how to do things around the bar. He’s stunned and also can’t fight the insane attraction he has towards her.
I thoroughly loved watching these two together, the admiration runs easily between the both of them and there’s no denying the attraction that have towards each other. Not only do we get to see Sofia grow, little by little we see these two fall for each other. What started as a casual no-strings, they’re opening up to each other and feelings are getting stronger. But they both know that what they have has a deadline, there’s no future.
Sofia and Dakota both have personal things that they have to work through and Devney really puts us through the wringer as they try to figure it all out. I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen, but time just kept going by. It takes many months and my emotions were definitely not in check. Sooo many hurdles to get through, several tissues to dry my eyes and a heartbreaking and hopeful journey towards a path of love.
It’s really hard to pick a favorite in this series, but as whole the Lark Cove books have completely captured my heart, leaving me with stories that I’ll never forget. Sofia and Dakota were nothing like I’ve ever imagined, beauty and pain all tied into one. Every bit of their story is a beautiful one and one that so many will love and appreciate.
Devney Perry
Is this really it? The end of the Lark Cove series? Indeed, it is and Devney Perry went all out in Tinsel. It was dramatic and sexy and adventurous and angsty and romantic and heartbreaking all at the same time.
As someone who has always worked, it took me a hot minute to connect with Sofia. But her grit and determination and kindness broke me down pretty quickly. Dakota too. Holy hotness with a cherry on top- Dakota! There was just something magnetic about him. I couldn’t look away from his pull. He was a warrior in a losing battle and no matter what he did someone was going to be hurt.
There was no denying that Sofia and Dakota were attracted to each other. The chemistry sizzled from the first time they met. And when they gave in…it was enough to melt that Montana snow. As they spent more time together, the inevitable happened; feeling developed. On both sides. But they were from two very different worlds. Sofia came from wealth and privilege, where things were easy because of her name. Whereas, Dakota wore his struggle between being his own man and meeting his family’s expectations on his sleeve.
The back and forth on their tender hearts almost broke them, more than once. To be honest I didn’t know how it would work. If it could work. They both loved hard and worked hard and chased their dreams. For as much success as they had found, something was missing. There was a void that only could be filled with each other. But a choice had to be made.
Devney Perry delivered a powerful message in these pages. Money isn’t everything. Forgiveness and acceptance are vital. Love is always worth a sacrifice. Neither Sofia or Dakota were perfect, they each had and owned their flaws, and that made them perfect for each other. A little boldness, a touch of magic, a lot dream chasing, and a whole lot of love, made Tinsel shine.Dakota and Sofia’s journey was the perfect, yet bittersweet, ending to a fantastic series.
