I liked the characters; interesting premise. Kept me guessing. The British-ness of the book was quaint but some of the words were hard to figure out.
I liked the characters and enjoyed the suspense.
Entertaining but nothing special. I probably read three books each week from BookBub so not many stores surprise me. But the characters were interesting and it is worth a read for anyone who seldom reads mystery or suspense novels.
Plotting not terrific but characters are engaging.
When Chrissy Livingstone’s father dies she realizes she didn’t know him at all! When she discovers her father had received threatening letters before her dead being ex MI5 she feel compelled to investigate! This book encompasses rural England all the way to Malibu, California! There were lots of hints and clues but more answers let to more questions! This was a thrilling book with genuinely intriguing characters! With all the family secrets past and present the family seems even Moreno. Complex. Everyone in the family having their own secrets. I liked the ebb and flow of this book. It wasn’t too fast paced it was perfect giving you time to catch your breath and digest all the new info. I really enjoyed this suspenseful book. I look forward to reading more from this author!
Meh! It was ok. The story was kind of weird and the main character didn’t seem credible (a former MI6 agent – seriously???). The characters simply didn’t appeal to me enough to continue the series but I did enjoy the story.
The idea that the heroine had two other homes and a pretend job without her husband’s knowledge was not believable.
I could not get into this book, gave up after the 3rd chapter.
I stopped reading after about forty pages
Started out with a bang and then rambled for too long.
Predictable, but filled a few pandemic hours…
This book was just OK for me…too many skips back & forth in time which made it hard to keep up with the story. Ho-hum ending.
Thought it would be good – a deceased father’s funeral, strangers lurking, daughters with very different personalities. Turned out very contrived, mediocre, and quite unbelievable. Did I mention contrived?
I tried and I forced myself but I couldn’t get past 11% of the book. Dry and drawn out. Just nothing to draw you in to keep reading.
It was too slow reading. I found it a page turner at the end of the book. She is going to be a private eye but I could care about the next book.
Story line is a little unbelievable as it gets started, but the follow-on is very interesting. Characters are believable and you keep coming back to find out what is next.
You will never guess the end.
This has a complex plot that unfolds as the story progresses. The heroine in the story is believable and made more real by showing the dynamics in sister relationships and adult children to parents relationships.
Enough twists to keep the pages turning. Well developed plot.
Well written. Excellent character development. Interesting story.
