All of this author’s books are good. I have read all his books.
Good read.
Good book !
I enjoyed this book. I read a previous review that almost made me look over it but I’m happy I didn’t. There are a lot of cliches and weak characters but there are truths in every cliche and people aren’t always strong. There is mystery, an exciting twist at the end and a heartfelt ending. I will read more by this author.
The action and descriptions take the reader down the trail with the characters, questioning people’s motives, questioning what is real, and questioning one’s judgment. Well done.
Keeps us thinking!
A powerful and wellwritten book. But really is every Christian evil or a nut case?
I made the mistake of forcing myself to give this book a chance until I reached about the 53% point. Then I deleted it with pleasure. The characters were unappealing, and the dismal cloud that hung over their lives was not an encouragement to keep reading. The story bounced around with teases and hints but no real substance of what had happened, …
If you like books about the steamy South and the mysteries buried within than this is a good read. Believable descriptions of the area…you can feel the humidity. Characters are interesting and allow you to feel empathy as well as sympathy and a bit of disgust.
The character development in this novel was excellent. The author did a superior job creating the main character, a heroine who, despite one whopper of a secret, is instantly likeable and sympathetic. She illustrates how a person can expertly perform a job that requires nerves of steel and endless courage for decades and still be vulnerable to …
I didn’t see the end coming! !!
Well written. Holds the readers interest very well
A good who dunit book. Kept me interested to the very last page.
The story seemed to go on and on-with little oomph-
I admit I fast forwarded through the mid section-just to get to the end-The meanderings of the plot line seemed conveniently contrived / characters were wishy washy-
Definitely did not engage this reader-
Both Jaymee and Nick are stuck in bad life situations but come together to work to solve the mysteries of the deaths of Nick’s wife and Jaymee’s employer and an acquaintance/neighbor. In the process of solving the murder they improve their live problems.
A woman with a besieged background moves forward into life. I found this book tiresome. Perhaps because I’ve not been in her situation. Or perhaps I found her not compelling. But the murderer was a surprise
Being from the ‘South’ and this being set in my home state drew me to this first book in the Delta Crossroads Series. Others have given the plot and synopsis of the book so I won’t. However, I will say that the mystery in the book kept my attention throughout Trying to figure out the ‘bad guy’ proved to be a good challenge and one that I look …
It’s better than OK as far as twists as the end, but the writing is amateurish. Way too many words and adjectives, often repetitious and rambling. A propensity to add extraneous appeals to the senses and scene setting strong verbs. For example, if a bird suddenly swoops down from a tree as the character walks in the lonely woods, do we really need …
It was fairly entertaining and I cared about the characters. The descriptive writing to express the physicality of her joy, sorrow, hate, and redemption was almost more than I could tolerate. I couldn’t wait for the book to end.
Good characters, but Too much death
