interesting story.
Nice read. Crichton is always thoughful in his intersections between fiction, science and characters. (Spoiler Alert). Time travel to France in dark ages is like a fax machine. and sometimes the data is scrambled a bit like the lines in old faxes. That and some of the paradox issues when something is changed.
Fast paced. Almost made time travel seem actually possible. Had good characters and bad characters. Read this a few years ago. So, I should read it again.
A good book. Much better than the movie
This is a good book to read if you like stories about going back or forward in time.
Timeline is an action-packed thriller that manages to blend history, science, and time travel into a compelling, unique story.
This book started slow, but it had to for the set up. Michael Crichton always has elements of truth in his books. I hear all the time they are progressing with quantum physics. His book makes you wonder if the premise from his book is happening. I believe the story idea from his book was used in the TV show Time Line. If you are interested in …
I have read this book more than once and viewed the movie more than once. I have been entertained at each reading and viewing. Well written and steeped in historical fiction and fact.
Not the best friends this author, but interesting sci/fi concept and quick read.
This was a very entertaining read until they crossed the river for the 4th time, or was it the 6th. It just drags out too much to keep opening.
Okay, but not great.
It was a great book all the way through.
This among many other Michael Crichton books is amazing. This one, because of the timeline, reminds me of my Western Sci Fi series. Time line work interests me no end. I’m amazed I never read this one before. It somehow escaped my notice. I had my series well underway before I realized that Crichton had pioneered not the concept, but put his …
This book is not one of Criton’s best. The premise is a bit weak and it builds to a rather worn time-travel ending. Still, a good summer read to take your mind off current happenings.
Unbelievable imagination. C.could not put the book down. Writing at his best plus.
A bit long and drawn out, but the story is definitely original and believable. Enjoyed it and learned a great deal about the Medieval Age!
I read this when I was young and was thoroughly enthralled. So much so that I would often think of this plot-line and how much I enjoyed it without being able to remember the name or author. Then I decided to read the complete Crichton (in case I’d missed anything along the way) and found it again. Still enthralled 30 years later.
Different twist on time travel.
Story about being able to go back to the past, although in an alternate universe. Also the story about how greed can cloud our judgement, making “things”, especially money, more important than people. I enjoy Crichton’s books and this one was no exception. The information/technology seemed right on and I learned some things about medieval times; …
I’m still reading. It is absolutely fascinating. To go back in time, hasn’t everyone wondered about that. Can’t put it down but it is over 400 pages & since I only read at night usually fall asleep even though it is action packed.
