I usually avoid books involving time-travel but this is the one exception to my anti-time-travel rule. I enjoyed this one immensely. It is very different from the usual, romance centered time-travel novel. The focus on research by the characters and absence of the “we have to fix the time-stream or our world will cease to exist” trope, made it …
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Very imaginative, well written and so easy to read. Its a sad thing that this author is gone.
one of my very favorite books. It stays with you long after you turn the last page.
One of my absolute favorites of his!
Science fiction made plausible by a master.
My favorite time travel book of all time (shame about the movie adaptation!). The method of time travel is very intriguing, and I love the time period it is set in.
Action packed!!
This book was fantastic! It is probably one of my favorite books, if someone were to ask me.
It has a little bit of a slow start, but once you get to the count down (you’ll know what I mean if you read it ) then it really starts to pic up the pace!
As far as I can tell it was historically accurate. The author usually makes a point to do his …
Different from the movie, but still good. The time travel is a little convoluted, but I enjoyed the plot of surviving in medieval times. As always the writing is very good, even the quantum foam babble. It’s still not as great as Jurassic Park, but entertaining all the same. RIP Michael.
I have read this book twice and watched the movie twice.
This was a fast-paced book that I enjoyed. It is very difficult to even try to compare it to the movie, because they are entirely different stories–almost as though there are two different sets of characters using the same technology and having very different experiences.
For the most part, the book is superior. Only one thing bothered me that I …
It was a very good read.
One of my favourite time travel novels. It has enough science to feel realistic, even given the topic.
He has woven an intriguing tale that uses the skills and dreams of the present day characters and hurls them into a dark past of danger and sudden death. A cross theme of present day greed complicates the situation in a way that is probably all …
I’ve read both the book and seen the movie. Don’t watch the movie, read the book! It starts out like a mystery and you don’t quite know what’s going on. But it soon turns into an action-packed adventure. I did enjoy the first half better than the latter half, but it’s still a good read, and very entertaining.
One of my favorite time travel yarns. No one should call this genre “realistic,” but at least the rose colored glasses about history were quite reduced in Timeline.
Excellent inventive plot with great building and relating of middle age life. Hard to put down
Okay, I have to admit, it’s hard for me not to love everything by Michael Crichton, but this truly is a terrific book that tackles a complicated bit of science with amazing insight and creativity. Crichton blends quantum physics, history, and adventure in a satisfying, fast-paced package.
Interesting storyline well presented.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Loved the science imagination.
