Romance and adventure… and a trip to where an American tradition began…
Libby Edwards, a gifted horsewoman, unwittingly wishes herself back in time to Louisville, Kentucky just before Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby become a reality. During Libby’s journey in the past, she stumbles upon her destiny. Unfortunately, he’s in the wrong century. In 1874, there’s no electricity, no internet, … internet, no modern medicine, no antibiotics — no Starbucks! And even worse than that, women have no rights. Libby has no desire to stay.
Widower Colin Thorpe, a renaissance man of his time, has big dreams. He is a horse breeder who names his thoroughbreds after Mythological Gods because he has a reverence for past cultures and an appreciation for the unexplainable.
Libby and Colin can’t resist falling in love with each other. After all, Colin accepts Libby for who she is and she understands Colin’s dreams better than his deceased wife ever did. Yet he grasps early on that Libby doesn’t belong in 1874. And because his wife never adapted to the move from Virginia to Kentucky, becoming bitter and unhappy in the process, he won’t take the chance of the same thing happening to Libby. Can these two lovers find a way to be together despite their challenges?

If you enjoy books about time travel and romance, this is indeed one to read. Thoroughly enjoy it!
Started out really cute and fun. Toward the middle it dragged on and became hard to believe. I know it’s time travel and thus bends dimensions, but I couldn’t finish it. Sorry.
So it is a romance so you know they’ll live happily ever after but enjoyed how they get there
A story about the founding of Churchill Downs and of course horses who would race. I like reading a good horse story and time travel, so it interested me. Anyone who likes history, horses and a love story should find it entertaining.
The characters were well fleshed out without the author describing every freckle. I like that because it lets you apply characteristics that suggest the heroine could be you. The story was a fun escape into a fantasy world. I also like that the romance scenes were not explicit, leaving something left to your imagination.
Makes me want to visit Louisville and see it all.
I like the historical aspect of the Kentucky derby.
Kept my interest. Enjoyed the story.
I like time travel books and sightly different than my usual Scotland, England, Ireland time travel with Dukes, Earls and Duchess. This one is set on the beginning of the KY Derby Time Frame. I enjoyed the USA time travel. It is interesting To imagine going back In time. I give this book a RATING! D S Burkhart of TN
