A book you don’t want to put down. A female lead so strong you wish you had half her guts and gumption. You will have to remind yourself to breathe when they are on the run.
From spoiled rich girl to smarter than your average FBI agent, you will find yourself falling for Jax and admiring her ability to carry on.
Don’t pick this up when you have made plans for later. Everything else will get put on hold until you find out if Jax will ever be safe again – and that goes for anyone who tries to help her.
You thought you knew who the good guys are. You will think again and never be sure.
To be constantly on the run from death, so intense and so nail-bitingly good. Fabulously written, with wonderful characters like Jax who is so strong, and a story to keep you on the edge of your seat, this is a book I could not put down.

I chose this book after reading the blurb, I have never read anything by this author before, so I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this or not. I thought the plot was intriguing and I really enjoyed the author’s writing style. The story moved along at a nice steady pace filled with mystery, action and suspense throughout.

In Time to Run Susan C Muller has written the type of suspense story that should appeal to a wide range of readers.
The action grabs you immediately yet the pacing of the book as a whole manages to neither become too much nor lag at all. There are moments for the reader to catch their breath then just as suddenly we’re off again. I am particularly fond of this type of pacing because while the story does make me keep wanting to turn pages there are spots where I can reasonably stop for the night, or because the boss thinks I should actually be working (go figure!). These aren’t lulls in the story but places where we, as well as Jax, can collect our thoughts and think about what might be to come.
I also like a story that places the protagonist on the wrong side of the law when they shouldn’t be and a large part of the concern becomes how to get the message across to law enforcement without getting killed in the process, by either them or the real criminals.
All in all this novel checks off all the major boxes for this genre while doing so with a great deal of skill. I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes the types of mysteries I described above, and with a strong innovative female lead as well.

Great story that kept me on the edge of my seat, right to the end! Jax is a character that can easily be loved. Strong, smart, wrong place, wrong time; hence time to run. The list of characters that follow make the story gripping and fast paced. Run don’t walk to grab your own copy of this story!

Jax is working for a Senator. She goes to his house to drop off some papers. The door is ajar and she walks in and witnesses someone killing the Senator. The killer tries to grab Jax, but his hands are covered in blood and she escapes. She overhears that the FBI and police are paid off. Jax is on the run for her life with no one to trust. This is a page turner with everyone looking for Jax. The mob wants her dead and the authorities want to arrest her because evidence appears to link her to the murder.
When Jax Duncan witnesses a crime and runs for her life, she soon has the mob, the FBI, and the killer after her. Unable to trust anyone except herself, Jax evades capture time and again. The action never slows down in the fast-paced suspense novel. What I really enjoyed was the three-dimensional portrayal of the villain, lending enough bits of background to him to make you not completely despise him.
I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it. Another great read by the author.
Just an easy, fun read.
Sorry, but the writing was terrible.
Based on so many of the reviews for this book, I’m asking myself how I could be SOOO off the mark for this book? This book was a chore to get through and I kept telling myself throughout the book to DNF it and move onto something else, something better. However, I kept thinking of all those four and five star reviews and I kept thinking that any minute now, it was going to get better. NOT!!! It never got better.
It’s one thing when the supposed long time, highly connected and successful criminals are portrayed as imbecile morons but I absolutely hate stories where law enforcement officers, like FBI AGENTS are sooo incredibly stupid and incompetent. Good grief!!! This read like an incredibly bad, low-rate, straight to video movie.
wow,,,start to finish. so realistic it was scary. could happen to anyone.
Very good read, full of twists and intrigue. Would definitely recommend!
Checks all the boxes for a thriller, great, unpredictable characters, fast moving plot, satisfying conclusion. Perfect escape in our time of Covid-19.
Interesting plot, liked the characters. Exciting action, a couple of nice twists. Good before bedtime read.
Much better than I expected. Not crazy about four year gap in the story. Doesn’t explain how a former rich kid learns to live on the down low.
FBI guy comes across as a jerk. Lots of shoot outs, car chases, dirty cops and Mafia hitmen.
I am glad that I read it.
Got the book as a free offering on Book Bud & pleasantly surprised at hoe terrific it was. Would stay awake reading in order to complete. Intriguing.
Totally enjoyed this book. Am recommending it to my daughter. She will love it!
When Jacqueline “Jax” Duncan witnesses the murder of a prominent political figure, she knows her only choice is to run and run far. Barely getting away before the killer hunts her down and after escaping from FBI Agent Lincoln Montgomery she hides out as she travels the country. But killers don’t give up nor do FBI agents and once again she is on the run. When Lincoln is injured while chasing her, she takes the role of protector as she tries to convince him that she did not commit murder. As they try to stay ahead of the killer and not knowing who they can trust, Lincoln seeks assistance from a detective that he has worked with. This is a wild ride from beginning to end! I so enjoyed the character of Jax as she is an unconventional heroine, but living on the run has given her street knowledge that comes in handy. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
The suspense kept me going
