Join hobby farmer Ivy Galloway and her brilliant sheepdog, Keats, as they wrangle feisty rescue animals and ruthless killers in rustic Clover Grove.
Are there some mysteries only a clever cat can solve?
There’s a handsome new guy at Runaway Farm and Keats isn’t happy about the competition. The bossy border collie wants to be Ivy’s one-and-only partner in crime-solving. Cats are unwelcome here.
in crime-solving. Cats are unwelcome here.
When a curmudgeonly cat-sitter targets Ivy with slanderous claims, however, a curious cat may be exactly what’s needed to help sort out the truth from the lies. And when a Clover Grove resident gets their final cut of all in her family’s new salon, Ivy needs all hands—and paws—on deck to defend the Galloway name.
The ginger feline won’t take no for an answer anyway. Not from Ivy, not from Keats. He’s determined to join the murder investigation and it turns out there are people to see and places to go that elude even the most ambitious canine. Can the furry rivals make peace in time to save Ivy from another stinking murderer in farm country?
The next book in the Bought-the-Farm Mystery Series is a perfect page-turner for lovers of dogs, cats, cozy murder mysteries and funny, spunky aspiring sleuths.

Another great addition to the Bought the Farm series! This time the murder isn’t at Ivy’s farm, but at the salon her mother and sister, Iris, have opened. But it’s a family effort to try and get Mom off the suspect list. The deceased was the town’s renowned “Cat Lady”, who had become rather eccentric lately (even stealing the cats of people she didn’t think treated the cats properly!). So no one is especially unhappy at her death – read that as a lot of suspects! As usual Ivy and Keats, her border collie, are on the job, but seem to have acquired a sidekick, much to Keats apparent dismay – a marmalade cat named Percy! As the threesome investigate, you can expect all the farm shenanigans to continue to entertain you – from the dancing Alpaca to the Drama Llama! There are also some surprises toward the end. Thoroughly enjoyable. As an ARC team member, I write this review entirely voluntarily.
To start this review, I’d like to say that I’ve read books 1-3 now. I just finished the fourth book in Ellen Riggs Bought-The-Farm-Mystery series. Every single book, Ivy and Keats have to solve a murder. This book is a little different. In book three, the owner of the local salon is put in jail for murder. Ivy’s mom buys the salon and reopens. A few weeks after opening, a woman is found murdered inside. The last three books have all been murders on Ivy’s actual property. I have to say, I liked the plot of book four. Edna is one of my favorite characters, up there with Keats. Plus Percy now!! 100% recommend reading this book and series. (I will also be reading Ellen Riggs other series, Mischief in Dog Town.)
I love Runaway Farm and small town life. Ivy and Keats continue to play detectives when another murder hits close to home. Ivy’s family; especially her mom; will have you cracking up! Along with Keats antics and the love/hate relationship of their next door neighbor.
Lots if smiles with this quick fun read.
This series just keeps getting better and better!
I just love the development of all the returning series characters! The characters are all finding their niche and blending perfectly. Don’t get me wrong…There is still fear, trouble, and sorrow woven throughout the story; but I feel that the characters interactions are more fluid as they are adapting to living together in the same small town. I enjoy how Ellen Riggs infuses humor at just the right moments. I find my self laughing out loud at times.
This is a clean, fun, entertaining, mystery with so many twists and turns that I found it hard to name the killer before the reveal. Great read! I recommend to readers of any age that are able to read about the act of murder without undue stress.

Till the Cat Lady Sings is another wonderful Bought-the-Farm mystery. These stories are so much fun to read. I love the connection between Ivy and her brilliant sheepdog Keats. This time Keats has to put up with Percy, a beautiful ginger cat. These books have all the brilliant characters that are Ivy’s friends and family. This is a fast paced mystery with a large number of suspects who have motives for wanting to be rid of the deceased. This is a very entertaining story that I stayed up way too late to finish!
A delightfully entertaining read by the talented Ellen Riggs. Ivy and Keats have another murder to solve but this time they have a new addition to their team, Percy, the cat. The animals, as always, are the best part of the book and have several humorous adventures together.
While Ivy’s trying to solve this latest murder, she and Jilly are still trying to get people to stay at their B&B, help her mother with her new venture, and keep on Kellan’s good side. The Rescue Mafia make some appearances to help with the disappearance of a feral cat colony and as always, I love Cori’s orange-fingered gloves.
I can’t wait to see what Ivy’s next adventure will be.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
I’m loving these whodunits? This book deals with a murder that didn’t occur on Runaway Farm, but Ivy’s family is still involved. I loved the addition of Percy, the cat, to the team of Ivy and Keats. We get to meet some new characters in this book and of course, one of them will be eliminated. I was able to guess whodunit this time, so grab your copy and see if you can too. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. If you enjoy a great mystery with a side of romance, you won’t be disappointed.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
