My husband is not the man I married. The man I remembered loving was, warm, kind, sensual. This man is cold, distant and cruel. The doctors say he’ll get better and I want to believe them. But I’m losing faith with every hate-filled word past his lips.I miss the man I married. I miss the woman I was.Until I’m hit by a blue-eyed storm and now my life is shattered. When I lock eyes with the sexy … the sexy stranger at the bar, he makes me remember the carefree woman I was. Lost after that single night of passion, I thought it couldn’t get worse. I was wrong.
Torn between the vows I promised to a man who is cruel and remote and the all-consuming lust for a stranger I can never have, I walk the tightrope between desire and duty and hope that I don’t fall and destroy us all.

“I wanted to feel desired again—alive.”
I have only read one other book by Maddie and have loved this author’s writing style. I have no idea what the next book in this series is called or when it’s releasing, but it can’t release soon enough! This book is left with an unbelievable cliffhanger.
“There is always a pinnacle moment in your life when everything changes. The direction you had planned, veers wildly and your future, the one you planned, changes direction forever.”
This book had me feeling so much. It is a total rollercoaster of emotions, loyalty, friendship, healing, secrets, judging your morales, endings, beginnings and uncertainty. At one point I felt compassion and hope, then anger, you start to question what you would do if put in this no win situation, you start to question if your mind is playing games or of you are being set up and then you feel betrayal and loss…the next second hope and devastation. You are in the light one moment and the dark the next. What a well written rollercoaster, fast paced, emotional read.
“I let my inhibitions go and did things I had never done, things that I enjoyed. It was dirty, it was wrong, and yet it had never felt more right.”
A story that could have been so much better if it hadn’t been blown off track by horrible editing (“due on the July twenty eight”, wanton/wonton, being high school sweethearts vs meeting in college, switching POVs without indication, etc) and far too much detail in the insignificant such as describing practically every outfit while being too shallow with emotional descriptors making us see them as if they were of the same importantance as the clothes.
I should be giving this a 3 star because I absolutely hate cliffhangers and this one is a whopper! However this is a well written story with so many dramatic layers. Lexi and Dean’s marriage has not been the same since his stroke, he pushes her away and she meets Hunter. After meeting Hunter her life and perception of love are forever changed. Told from the povs of Lexi, Dean and Hunter this page turner had such an unexpected twist I gasped out loud. Now onto the second book. I have to see what happens.
Lexi and Dean met in college , fell in love , got married and she thought they were happy until something changed with Dean. He had a stroke , Lexi took care of him they entire time, doing everything he asked. But one day, Dean tell her to take a lover, he doesn’t love her that way anymore , she should take a lover , she disgusts him. Lexi goes out with her friend Cherry to a bar and meets a man that she can’t take her eyes off. They can’t take their eyes off each other and make love, but they don’t get each others names. This story will tear at your heart with Lexi’s pain, you’ll feel her emotions ,toward Dean and Mac and she the changes she is facing in her life. I love this book and totally enjoyed it. Yes,it’s ends with a cliff hanger but your going to love book two
Lexi’s husband has changed ever since his illness. He went from being sweet and nice to cold and cruel. Now after a night of passion with a blue-eyed stranger, her life has turned upside down. She doesn’t know what to do. What can she do?
Emotional! Wow this book blew me away it wasn’t what I was expecting it turned out to be so much more. I really enjoyed the story and loved the characters. It was real and full of emotion. I can’t wait for more!
Well after reading this one I couldn’t help but think…
“This went dark fast!”
I totally don’t want to give away anything about this book. But what I will say is this has an “cliff” ending that honestly I didn’t see coming.
When I first read this synopsis I didn’t hold out much hope on liking the book. Cheating is a big no-no for me when it comes to reading. It’s just not something I enjoy.
However, given Lexi’s case and the crumbling marriage, that sounds like it’s been in the works for over 4 years anyways, and given the way her husband treats her, I could kind of overlook it.
WoW! What a range of emotions I felt reading this book. And what a twist from out of left field. I definitely hope to see more of the secondary characters in the sequel. I loved Cherry. It is a cliffhanger…but book 2 is out.
The conclusion to Tightrope was fabulous. It was steamy, suspenseful, and emotional. I could not put it down. Old friends made a visit to help. Tightrope book two contained fabulous story telling. It has a most satisfactory happily ever after!
As always Maddie Wade has created a masterpiece. I couldn’t put it down. The characters are so well thought out and relatable. Hunter and Lexi both had their flaws but in the end their love won the day. I would recommend this book a thousand times over.
I love this book it is such an emotional roller-coaster of a book. I love the characters chemistry and I couldn’t put it down till I finished it. I recommend anyone to read this book.
Tightrope was hard to put down but I had to go to sleep.
I’ve known Maddie’s romantic suspense stories and loved them, and I was impatient to get my hands on her contemporary romance. And it has been a real treat. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. For me, Lexi’s struggle to find what she wanted in life, and the decisions that led to doubt and guilt, touched me deeply. I didn’t know I would be caught up in an emotional and personal roller-coaster ride.
As usual, the story is beautifully written, I loved the steamy sex scenes. I can’t wait for the author to release the second book and see where she is heading. Write fast please!
Tightrope (Tightrope Book 1) by Maddie Wade is just Wow. I started reading it and had to leave to go to work but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It evoked so many emotions in me that I felt a little drained and a lot frustrated by the time I had finished it. It ended on a cliffhanger that had me gaping like a guppy at what just happened. The story is told in dual POV, which I just love because you get so much more depth from the characters. It is a short heart wrenching but pull a punch storyline that has a dark and terrible twist that just has your emotions so raw.
I suggest you make sure you have the second book on hand to start as soon as you finish the first. Oh and a good stiff drink will also help with the heart palpitations. Enjoy!

Cliffhanger alert! Wait…don’t pass by….read on! I am not a fan of them at all. Luckily the second book is readily available for me to read on. And boy oh boy do I need to read on! This poor couple has had nothing but misunderstandings and roadblocks put up in their way. What will happen?? Things just seem to get worse and worse…give up or fight??
Deans pick up line to Lexi…amazing. How could someone not smile at that? He is pretty Ingenious! The more I read I wonder about him though. His attitude is so up and down. It’s hard to figure him out. Well…until we get to spend a little time in his head and thoughts. Then everything became clear!
Lexi’s wild night with her mystery man was so hot I felt it to my core. Holy holy smoke!! The feelings these two have for each other are crazy. But how far can they take him..or her. When there is a estranged husband in the picture. There is so much I like about Lexi. She is determined, kind, passionate and strong. Her friendship with Cherry is amazing! Besties forever! Their conversations are something to look forward to.
This isn’t my first story by Maddie Wade but it is by far my favorite! The story drew me in hook, line and sinker. I grew to love the characters and really want a happy ending for them. I will be starting the second one now!
Maddie Wade has given us a gift – Tightrope – and she is leaving us hanging, with an epic cliffhanger!!! Please, for your own sake, get BOTH of the stories at the same time as you will need it! (I had the second book waiting when I started on the first one!) I fell in love with Maddie’s writing when I discovered her Fortis series and she has simply taken it up a notch in this Tightrope series/duet (well, you can see how I hope there will be a spin-off, another story, something….)
In this first book we get introduced to Dean and Lexi who are married but the marriage is no longer what it used to be … Dean is no longer what he used to be … and Lexi, she comes to the point when she needs to take a deep look inside and decide whether she will stay faithful to the memory of the man her husband used to be or will she need to rethink it all and take what she needs …
The story is told from two points of views and it makes it especially heart breaking and it takes us on such a crazy rollercoaster ending with a … cliffhanger …
I will leave you with the opening words of the story as they tell you everything you need to know to make yourself to pick up a copy:
“God will only give you what you can handle, or so they say! If that was the case, God in all his infinite wisdom must have thought I was a complete badass. That, or he had a piss poor sense of humour.”
Tightrope: Book 1, by Maddie Wade, is a thrilling suspense. The author’s writing style feels eloquent and draws you into the story, page by page, to find yourself fully immersed into the story. The story was appealing after reading the synopsis, but what you get is much more in depth and suspenseful than anticipated. When is enough enough within a relationship and when does some hit their breaking point? This story encounters that in a way that is deliciously received with a hint of something darker rounding around one of the corners. This story was truly captivating.
Tightrope: Book One by Maddie Wade is the first book in her Tightrope duet. This is a book that will have you engrossed from the start and will leave you desperately wanting more.
What would you do if the man you married was no longer the same person? What would you do if the person in his place was cold, distant and cruel? Would you stick by him?
This is the position Lexi finds herself in. Despairing about what to do every changes the night she meets him at the bar.
There is absolutely nothing I can do – or would want to do – to describe this book to you. I have heard people claiming how good it was which is why I picked it up in the first place. Nothing they could have said however prepared me for the story that was to come. I was enjoying the book on the whole and then you reach the end, which just leaves you hanging there with questions screaming round your head. I never could have predicted what was going to come along and I am so glad I didn’t know beforehand as the ending was so impactful that it made the entire book for me. Brilliant, an absolute must read. I am extremely glad I’ve got book two to dive straight into!
This book – seriously. Finished reading it and had to catch my breath. Every emotion you could possibly feel and then some. The author did a masterful job grabbing my attention and putting my heart through the ringer. I loved this book and everything about it. Well, except for the cliffhanger ending. Thankful to get my hands on book two to finish this journey. Wow.

I finished this book about 25 minutes ago and after throwing a huge fit and tearing apart the internet trying to find any information I could on book 2 I think I have finally gotten to a place where I might be able to write a review for this book without exploding!
This author already had me hooked with the Fortis series, but what she did with this book Oh Em Gee…when I finished I seriously wanted to hit something so hard and still kind of feel that way, which is why I need to finish this review so I can go find another book to lose myself in.
I read this in one sitting, I mean I’m serious, I could not put this down, I could feel the building of something big but I couldn’t get a grip of what it was… Then everything happened so fast it was like what I imagine whiplash would feel like…
I’m at a total loss, I feel like I’ve been punched in the gut and I must have book 2 like 25 minutes ago!!! This book was AMAZING, and I know she warns that there’s a cliff hanger but Holy Moly!! Really!?
If you have not tried any books by this author yet, what are you waiting for? She is awesome and even though I may or may not have swore at her when I finished this book, I’m calmer now and can tell you that you can read anything she has and I’ll guarantee you will fall in love with her and her books!!
