from award-winning, New York Times Bestseller Alessandra Torre…Thousands of girls are taken each year. Bought. Sold. Held captive by monsters.I didn’t know anything about that world. I was a small-town woman, who was past thirty with no romantic prospects in sight. Then, Brett Jacobs waltzed into my life. He caressed my thigh, lowered his soft mouth to my skin, took sexual control of my mind … sexual control of my mind and stirred it all around with what he packed in his pants.
I fell hard and didn’t ask any questions. I guess I should have.

I have never come across a story like this before. So I bit confused but never lost the connect with the story. Brett and Riley were perfect for each other. Their story definitely had ups and downs but they never lost love or hope for each other. After reading Tight, I am definitely going blind with Alessandra Torre’s books. Most definitely worth reading and listening it.
Have to be honest in saying I almost didn’t finish this book. Not because of the writing or the story, as both are stellar—but because of the terrifying nature of human trafficking (sorry for the spoiler but this was a huge factor). It was horrifying on one hand to read first-hand accounts in such deep points of view as it forced me way out of my comfort zone. But I picked the book back up and finished it and was glad I did. I learned lots. Obviously much research had gone into writing this book. I developed an awareness of the subject matter while reading a steamy romance that powered it along. Right away the author tells you, “This book is a bit different than my others. It doesn’t follow quite the same formula. It will take you to some edges, but I don’t push you over.” There it is, straightforward and to the point. And Torre delivered: I was totally pushed to the edge. And thankfully she didn’t throw me off it. Clever, intelligent writing. Torre is one of my favorite writers. She knows story. She knows how to swing you around for a wild ride. An that’s why I recommend reading this book.
Everyone has a moment in their relationship that is a turning point. That one moment when you try to rationalize if you should ‘stay’ or ‘go’. For Riley…that moment was more pivotal that she ever could have imagined…….
Living the single life has left Riley’s sex life in a ‘dry spell’. As Riley heads to the Bahamas for a Bachelorette party with her friends, she finds herself face to face with a man that makes her reconsider casual hookups. Brett Jacobs saunters into Riley’s like oozing sex appeal. The handsome businessman is smitten with Riley. Both decide to ‘test the waters’ and see where their attraction takes them.
The two discover that one night is not enough. They partake in a long distance relationship that takes them flying to different destinations to spend the weekends together. As they begin to spend more and more time with one another, Riley finds herself questioning things in Brett’s life. Secrets are looming and Riley becomes determined to discover what lurks beneath the surface. What she discovers may very well be the beginning of the darkness……
Ah….wreck me…..Tight was absolutely amazing!! I devoured each and every page. There is a growing relationship between Riley and Brett that will leave you fanning yourself from the heat. Then you will taste the premise of ‘darkness’ that is lurking around the corner. Something that will grab you by the hand and take you on a journey that could not have been predicted.
Each chapter pulls you deeper and deeper into the temptation. A spiral that leads to the depth of one’s soul. It’s a path that must be traveled…..a story that must be told. Once you find yourself turning the last page….this story will become a part of your soul. An exhilarating ‘ride’ that you can’t stop thinking about. Discover the twists and turns of TIGHT…..walk on the edge. It’s a journey you will not regret taking.
When I read a book, I get out my little old book journal and I make notes. Just little things like the names of the main characters. Sometimes where it is set. Ages. Hair colour. Eye colour. You never know when you might need that info to cross reference.
My entry for Tight has this “Brett Jacobs. Riley Johnson. Meet when she is on a hen weekend.” That is it. Nothing more. I hardly came up for breath once I had time to sit and enjoy the exquisiteness of Alessandra’s story telling.
I picked up where she was trying to make me think one way; trying to steer me down the wrong path. I got your measure lady! Although I admit, I did waiver at one point.
I read the novella in the Bend anthology, never imagining that the story of the man who takes pity on the poor girl with shoeinjury and gives her fluffy slippers would turn into this story.
Loved it. Well done beautiful. So glad you conquered the writer’s block. I was there with you holding your hand virtually across the waves. I knew you would smash it. You deserve some nice, new shoes.
Loved the acknowledgements at the end. I am Torreville through & through. Love those girls, my girls. They keep me entertained. Keep me laughing. They are sunshine on a rainy day
My favorite of Torres’ books. Full of twists that will make yiu want to read more.
Not my cup of tea. Disturbing images. Didn’t finish.
Good story though a little disjointed
What a ride. Appreciated the writing style, the emotion, the depth of characters. Will follow this author. Most of all I was relieved to find a book that was a standalone and a page turner, with an unexpected HEA.
This book was sort of weird for me. I did enjoy it, but I was really confused for the first, like, quarter of the book. I think the root of my confusion stemmed from the disconnect between the Amazon blurb and what was actually happening in the book. I went back to the Amazon page part way through my reading because I wasn’t totally convinced I was reading the same book. That’s not to say the Amazon blurb was bad, because obviously it prompted me to actually buy the book, I just don’t think it did justice to what was actually happening in the book.
The way the author wrote the story and addressed the serious subject matter was well done. I enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, though the hero was a bit on the perfect side for me (I tend to like my heroes a bit rougher). I liked that Riley was from a quaint small southern town, and I liked even more that it was something she embraced, she wasn’t one of those heroines trying to escape from her town. I really enjoyed the alternating timelines/POV. I love when you get to read from a well written hero’s perspective, which Brett’s was well done when we got it. I also really liked Kitten’s chapters, they were short but long enough to keep me curious and interesting enough that my mind kept developing competing theories.
So, all in all I definitely enjoyed this book and would suggest it to others, but I hated the blurb for it.
