I picked the book up thinking it would take me a couple of days to read. You know, you read a book to settle down before sleep? I got caught up in the “one more chapter” loop where you don’t realize that you finished the chapter and started another because you are so engrossed in the story. The next thing I know, the book is done, the alarm clock is going to go off in a few hours, and I’ve started reading the free novella in the back of the book. So, yes. I definitely recommend this.
Let’s start with the humor, shall we? From summonings to snarky friends, this book has it all. In addition to that, there is a load of information about the Indian culture presented in a really fun and sometimes suspenseful way. Language, tradition, culture, and style are so seamlessly integrated into the story that not only is the world brought to life realistically but you absorb so much without even realizing it. Looking for some steam? This has scenes so hot they’ll make your Kindle melt.
I was lucky enough to get an advanced reader copy from Ashlyn Chase and I can’t thank her enough for the chance to read this story and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others. I’ll be honest, it was definitely different from the one I had read before it but it was a welcome change.
OK! All that happened and the time and frustration that took place. Jamir and Haley finely found one another. Good story. It was different also. I enjoyed it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Be careful what you summon – you may get it
This was a pretty good book. I would give it 5 stars, except the heroine, Haley, is a little too wishy-washy for me. She’s 39 and desperate enough to meet Mr. Right that she and her besties do a drunken naked summoning ceremony/spell in Central Park, but when her true love turns out to be a tiger-shifting immortal Bengali man, she gets weird about it. Not about him, about living in India. She’s all jus in arms about not flush toilets, etc. Fortunately, fate takes a hand and demonstrates to Haley and her beloved Jamir just exactly how much better off they’ll be in India. Jamir is adorably confused by 21st century NYC, and absolutely steadfast in his determination to be Haley’s forever honey. The expected HEA and hints of more immortal lovers to come are great too. This is a voluntary ARC review.
Title: Tiger’s Night Out
Author: Ashlyn Chase
Genre: Contemporary Paranormal Romance
**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
This is my first book by this author and it had a lot of potential. If you read the synopsis you know Haley and her friends preform a ceremony to find their true love. Their immortal true loves. In walks Jamir with all his feline self.
This is your basic insta-love romance. There isn’t really much in the way of edge of your seat drama or tension. Plus in the end I feel Jamir and his brother’s faith is being ridiculed. I am not recommending the book but I don’t want to put any spoilers in my review either. Also, just because they spend all their time guarding the temple I highly doubt they are that clueless. They are not that cut off from the world.
The characters really had no depth. The women were snarky at every turn. Like a shrew. Was this supposed to be a rendition of Taming of the Shrew? You never really care for the characters. Uh, and when Bruce was buying clothes he was all, oh do you sell clothes here? I plan on buying clothes here, not for me obviously…seriously? Way to ruin a good Samaritan moment.
If you want a story don’t buy this book. If you want to read about lots of sex then go for it.
