Grab a badge and a gun and strap in for an absolutely gripping ride that’s “full of suspense from the beginning to the end…” (Readers Abode)She could feel him watching her… Though every time she turned to look, there was no one there. The rest of the world thought she was going crazy—until it was too late. When Laura Saunders is found strangled in her home with a man’s necktie, Detective Madison … with a man’s necktie, Detective Madison Knight is assigned the case. Her sergeant at the Stiles Police Department wants her to conclude it was an isolated incident and move on with the investigation, but Madison’s not the type to cave under pressure. She’s haunted by certain unexplainable clues at the crime scene, including the presence of a mysterious photograph. Madison believes the picture may somehow tie into the murder, but before she can dig into it, another woman’s body is discovered in a local park. Heather Nguyen was also murdered with the same brand of necktie that had been used on Laura.
On the surface, there doesn’t seem to be anything beyond the way they were killed that connects the women. But as Madison delves into the lives of the victims, she unravels a web of deceit and betrayal and lays bare decades of deadly family secrets. Edging closer to the truth, Madison’s quite sure at least one more woman is slated to die. But can Madison piece together all the clues in time to save her?
A gripping crime thriller full of heart-pounding twists. Perfect for fans of Robert Dugoni, J.D. Robb, and Lisa Regan.

This is such a good book and the characters come right off the pages. You can’t put it down trying to solve who is the culprit. Great characters and easy to get caught up in the story and plot.
Definitely worth reading.
Really good book
Great read. Twists and turns. Definitely an unpredictable ending.
Good story line with twists.
Too slow paced, very hard in keeping you interested.
Carolyn Arnold writes great books…enjoyed the time reading this
Good story with a nice twist but not much fun to read. Not a single likeable character in the entire book.
I liked the plot of this book but I didn’t especially care for the main character – Madison. In reality, she is a very dysfunctional and needy person. She comes off as a know-it-all but there is so much of real life of which she is unaware. Bottom line – she needs a character adjustment!
Even though I started this book months ago (pre-COVID19) I stopped reading when I stated working from home as I began working so much more.
I picked it back up this week and had no problem getting back into reading it during my lunch break (which I started taking just to read!) and finished it today.
This book had me picking it up every chance I …
Poorly written, cliched characters and a plot taken from a Law and Order episode. Arnold seems to want her main character to duplicate other strong fictional detectives, but she fluctuates between hard-bitten, jaded and troubled. The partner is also a cliche of bumbling ineffectual male whose function is to be brow-bitten and dim-witted while the …
A killer with a purpose to reclaim what he believes is his – or should be – and while he is pursuing his tragic and wicked dream he also involves other women in his killing spree as they are unworthy (in his view) to continue living. A page turner that grabs your attention till the end.
I liked it. The story line held my interest and I was keen to read when I should have been doing other things. I enjoyed it a heap more than a later book I read in the same series. Madison is really growing on me. I probably wish I’d read them in the right order.
There isn’t one main character in this book that I was rooting for. Madison Knight is one dimensional with no warmth and lots of dislike for everyone else except her drinking buddy. Even her partner isn’t spared and he’s going through a rough patch with his wife. All of the supervisors are colored as micromanaging, power wielding bullies. What a …
Enjoyed the twist at the end.
This author will make you follow her! There is not one time I ever wanted to put this book down. Start reading so you can get hooked!
Interesting
A wonderful suspense novel. They have a killer strangling women with expensive ties. Something in a picture found at the first crime scene makes a difference on who the killer is.
The ending caught me by surprise.
Some of the characters were a bit much, but the plot was decent. One thing I notice, these ‘books’ have their share of missing words or wrong words. Editing? Proofing?
average mystery story, some interesting characters
Clever play on words – and you have to read the book to find out why I say that! I love a good mystery that grabs me from the beginning and hangs on until the end. This book delivered on that expectation. Characters were developed to the point where they kept your interest – go Madison!!
