In a world where the rules are gray and the Don’s word is a law unto itself, only one thing is sacred… family.A Team A.L.P.H.A. and Alphabits spin-off seriesTony Peterson has seen friend after friend find their mate, including his brother, but he’s pretty much given up on it happening for him, especially since he’s not a typical alpha. It’s okay though, he has his son Dexter and a great job … has his son Dexter and a great job helping shifter kids heal and navigate the system. What more could he want?
Joey Novak had to fight his way through a lot of prejudice to be seen as equal to all his alpha brothers, and he doesn’t regret a minute of it. Living on the wrong side of the law means you have to make your own, anyway. As long as he doesn’t wonder if he’ll ever find an alpha who will be the perfect match for him, he’s completely happy with his life.
Fate always strikes when you’re looking the other direction, and when a kid under the Novaks’ protection ends up in the system, Tony and Joey’s paths cross, and the two men from opposite sides of the law have to discover whether true love is enough when their values are so different. With a baby on the way, they don’t have much time to find an answer. But what if that answer is that they’d be better apart?
This is the second book in this mpreg mafia series. Get ready for a world ruled by the Don’s iron fist, unique interrogation tactics, and a family that stands together… no matter what. You can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, along with a lot of potty-mouth language and more violence than you’re used to from us. But at its heart, you’ll still find all the fluffy mpreg feels and crazy antics you’d look for from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown.

I loved this book, even though it wasn’t as violent as Vasily & River’s book but Susi & Crista did state that it wasn’t going to be. I loved how we got to see how the dynamic between Joey a mafia omega who is tough whereas Tony works as a social worker and protects kids, he’s also a very sensitive soul as it’s certainly which is not the usual roles as the Alpha is meant to be protective of the omega as omegas are usual way smaller than the Alpha but no less plus omegas usually take on the role as stay at home parent but Tony would thrive in that role as he loved being a Manny. I can’t wait to see who is going to be next to find their mate while they hunt for Pavlo who was taken and I have so many questions that I’m looking forward to getting answered in the next book like who sh*t at Don Francis, who the mysterious girl at the picnic playing frisbee with Pavlo & was Pavlo &/or her involved in the whole thing as Pavlo was extremely scared of Tony & Joey after he was found in Joey’s room like was that because he was nervous about getting found out or was he just a nervous wreck because of where he grew up & how he was treated & I wonder why they were both taken. All I can say is the next few books are going to be a blood bath while they prepare to pretty much go to war yay. Lol I totally wasn’t expecting Adrian & Tony’s mum’s to know Don Francis that was a surprise but now I think about it those women are both bada*se so in a weird way it does make sense. I hoping Don Francis will eventually meet his true mate because him & the boys papa weren’t true mates it was an arrangement between their different mafia families. I love books by Susi & Crista collectively & separately and would recommend this book, series & the authors to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.

Great characters. The “Bad Guys” are better than most, especially when the truly bad guys pop up. All about family first. I’ve already downloaded the next one of this series.
I love the breaking of stereotypes in this book. That roles can be reversed, and it’s going to be ok. Tony and Joey are wonderful, and it’s fantastic to see the family members as they laugh, joke and grow.
Audio Review:
Story: 5
Performance: 5
Very enjoyable, great narration.
Ties That Bind is the first book I’ve read by this particular writing duo and I thought it was great. This is book 2 in The Family Novak series, which is a spin-off of the Team A.L.P.H.A. and Alphabits series. I haven’t read book 1, nor have I read the previous 2 series, but that didn’t prevent me from enjoying this story. I’m sure I would have gotten a little more out of it if I’d read book 1, Family Ties, but like I said, I still enjoyed it immensely.
The voices that Kirt Graves does for the various characters are fantastic. I love the accent he does for Joey Novak. Kirt doesn’t just narrate this story, he performs it. The story contains several tense moments and kept me on the edge of my seat at times. There is some on-page violence but it happened to a very deserving character!
The romance for Tony and Joey has an HEA in this story but there is a bit of a cliffhanger so I’m really looking forward to reading the next book when it becomes available.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
I love spin-offs and the second book in this spin-off of the Team A.L.P.H.A. and Alphabits series is even better than book 1. Tony and Joey as fated mates made a wonderful couple and how they found each other in the middle of a difficult case, was really sweet and heartwarming. As always, family was just at their side standing strong before all the dangerous situations they confronted while fighting evil. I can’t wait to learn what happens after the cliffhanger at the end of the book!!
Ties That Bind by Susi Hawke and Crista Crown is a paranormal m/m romance with shifters, fated mates, and an mpreg. It is filled with action, suspense, humor and sexy sweetness. Loved this!!!! Joey and Tony are such great characters and the supporting characters, that family, is amazing. I can not get enough… give me more, please.
