Book 2.5 of the NTRWA award-winning series
**This novella is a sequel, not a standalone. It’s best to read Book 2: Playing the Pauses for the first part of Kate and Danny’s story, though you do not have to read the rest of the series to understand these two.**

Tie Me Down is a sequel to Playing the Pauses. I wish I had known this before I agreed to review this, because Tie Me Down is definitely not a standalone and it explains why I felt sort of underwater from the very beginning.
Kate and Danny are trying to make a relationship work where she’s on the road managing the tour of a woman named Ava, who’s apparently a rockstar. Danny is Jera’s best friend, from the first story in this series, A Cruel Kind of Beautiful. He and Jera and their band are rockstars themselves. So it would seem that Danny and Kate’s relationship would be a match made in heaven. He a rockstar and part time tattooist, and she a rockstar tour manager. But, there’s obviously something wrong in paradise as Tie Me Down shows.
Although I liked the premise of Tie Me Down, feeling out of the loop did not help me enjoy this much. The blurb makes it clear that Danny and Kate are in a BDSM relationship but if I hadn’t read it in the blurb, I never would have guessed it by reading Tie Me Down. Danny is unlike any Dom I have ever read before. He’s not controlling. He’s not particularly alpha. He is more likable here than in A Cruel Kind of Beautiful, though. Kate too, seems like the least submissive sub, ever. So I was out of sorts and confused throughout the entire story. It’s presented as being a BDSM relationship, yet neither seemed to be into BDSM and neither seemed Dom nor sub. There’s only one scene, and it’s a reunion of sorts, and it’s very rushed and most definitely not BDSM like, at all, which is fine, but not when contrasted with the blurb. And then there’s the fact that I didn’t connect much with Kate. She seems very distant in Tie Me Down. Not just physically because she’s on the road for most of the story, but emotionally. I couldn’t get a good read on her character. All this leads me to have to 3 star this, unfortunately. At the end, I think if I had read Playing the Pauses I might have enjoyed Tie Me Down a lot more because I would have known (and hopefully liked) the characters more. It was nice to see Jera and Jacob, though, as I loved them in A Cruel Kind of Beautiful. And the rest of the band, and Jera’s awesome dad, Hank, all make cameos, too, which are much appreciated.
Emotional *** Engaging. *** Enthralling —- A must read!
Kate is the manager of a rock star. It’s the perfect job for her because she loves being in charge…the challenge and the opportunity to create peace where chaos often rules. She is good at her job and appreciated. Lucky lady is also loved…though that word is never spoken.
Although Kate is in charge at work, behind closed doors she becomes a willing submissive to Danny. (Heck, so would I. The man had me drooling all over the place.)
These two are devoted to one another but her job keeps her away for long periods of time…and often the “unspoken” leaves room for clarity. That becomes glaringly clear when she is on an extended tour.
I was surprised to realize the slow start was anything but slow… it was just setting the reader up for one of the most powerful human exchanges I have read. EVER.
Emotionally I was all over the place, especially when Danny expressed himself.
Do your self a big favor and take a chance with this one. My reader copy was burning up and I ended up reading it cover to cover. I was so pleased with the author’s presentation, I went in search of more of her work. As for this one, a clear 5 star read.
