A Welsh Methodist minister’s daughter changes her life when she appeals for help to Nicholas Davies, a half-Gypsy earl…
They called him the Demon Earl. They said he could do anything. Son of a rogue and a Gypsy, … Nicholas Davies, a half-Gypsy earl…
They called him the Demon Earl. They said he could do anything. Son of a rogue and a Gypsy, Nicholas Davies was a notorious rake until a shattering betrayal left him alone and embittered in the Welsh countryside.
Desperation drives quiet schoolteacher Clare Morgan to ask the Demon Earl to help save her village. Unwilling to involve himself in the problems of others, Nicholas sets an impossible price on his aid–only if Clare agrees to live with him for three months, letting the world think the worst, will he intervene.
Furiously Clare accepts his outrageous challenge, and the two are swept into an intoxicating Regency world of danger and desire. As allies, Clare and Nicholas fight to save her community. As adversaries, they explore the hazardous terrain of power and sensuality. And as lovers, they surrender to a passion that threatens the very foundations of their lives.
“An extraordinary romance from an extraordinary author.” – Romantic Times
I really enjoy Putney’s writing, and I find that the details she includes from her research help to create a rich and believable world. This story features a half Romani hero, and the historical and and cultural details about the Romani people are very interesting. Same for the mining operation in the story. Clare is a fun heroine – brave, …
I loved the first book in this series so much I bought the rest of the series. The characters are memorable and the plots are intricate.
I loved this book. I learned about coal mining , Methodists ,gypsies and so much more. Will diffinately read again and have already told friends about it. I like this author and will read the rest of this series
The story of a gypsy’s son who was also a Duke’s grandson became involved with a ministers daughter. The beginning of the book really drew me into it.
Sexy scenes were dealt on a little too much which lessened my enjoyment of the story. But Ms Putney writes very entertaining books with a lot of action and interesting locations.
It’s been a long time since I read a regency romance with gypsies but I, like so many other people, thoroughly enjoy the mysticism and legend that always seems to surround them. This is the first book of Mary Jo Putney’s I’ve read and was quite pleased. The storyline flowed seamlessly with characters so flawed, their personalities were relatable. …
This is the first book in the author’s initial Regency set series. I read all of the books of the Fallen Angels when they were first released a number of years ago. I am hard put to pick a favorite as all are well-crafted, outstanding representatives of the genre. The plot is somewhat unusual and the characters compelling. Adjective overload: …
Really enjoyed this book and characters.
Loved the characters and story line.
Enjoyed this book and read the rest of the series.
I love all books I have read by mary jo Putney this was no exception
I really liked this book. But then, the author is one of my favorite romance writers.
The story was fast paced with interesting characters. The main heroine ends up compromising herself in order to help all the people where she lives. Drama ensues. Many misunderstanding must be resolved in order for the hero and the heroine to have a happy ending.
Love her books…this one drug a little to get all the details covered
Intriguing characters, exciting dramatic plot twists.
Somehow I always forget how good she is. Putney is an excellent writer. This book has spiritual and bawdy elements that might not be for everyone. Yet she blends them seamlessly. It’s well researched and unique. The only element was the villain and reveal it was a bit too obvious on both counts. But overall if you want vivid storytelling and …
The first book in this wonderful series is a beautiful romance. This author writes with such power you feel you are in Wales in 1814. Nicholas Davies, Earl of Aberdare, had a gypsy mother. When he was 7 and Marta knew she was dying she brought him to his grandfather. The only heir to the earldom, his grandfather despised him for his tainted …
A Delightfully Romantic & highly Sensual Story.
Clare & Nicholas’s Journey to HEA is Absolutely Wonderful.
This Story has Wonderful Characters, A Plucky, Bold & Courageous Heroine Clare who is/was very Pious since her Father was a Methodist Minister in the Village of Penreith.
Nicholas whose Grandfather who detested Nicholas because of his Gypsy …
Loved the original plot and the dynamic characters! Looking forward to reading other books in this series!
