A storm can cover her tracks…or lead the wolves straight to her door.
With the help of his witch clan, Jake Wilcox is looking forward to a happy future with Addie Grant, the woman he’s falling for. There’s just one thing missing: Addie. Sometime in the night, she up and left. He can guess why — she’d sacrifice almost anything to avoid causing her newfound family any trouble. But the big question … family any trouble. But the big question is, where did she go?
Addie dutifully went along with the Wilcox clan’s plan to protect her from Randall Lenz, the government operative bent on harnessing her weather magic for not-so-noble purposes. But in the back of her mind, a voice insists that as long as she stays in Arizona, the greater the danger to Jake and the Wilcox witch clan.
Heart breaking, Addie listens to her inner nomad and goes where the wind takes her — a place where no government, no witch, not even Jake can find her. But there are two factors working against her desire to remain hidden: her love for Jake…and the magic that, when danger flares like a wildfire, she has no choice but to unleash.

Oh, boy! Christine Pope has done it again with Thunder Road the second book in The Witches of Wheeler Park series.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Note: this review contains spoilers!
Addie Wilcox has run away from Jake, her one true love, to keep him and the rest of his family safe. Her fear of Agent Lentz is stronger than her faith in the witches and warlocks. And I don’t blame her. I think I would have run too! Jake, on the other hand, is not a happy camper. Addie didn’t leave any note or indication of why or where she went. And he’s pretty sure she is his soul mate, so I can understand him being upset too.
Addie thinks she is safe on the Indian Reservation working at the casino surrounded by the magic of the Indian community. Jake thinks that she would be safer surrounded by witches and warlocks. Turns out neither of them was right!
Because Agent Lentz isn’t what he thinks he is. All of his “test” subjects are orphans with no idea of their birth family. Just because Agent Lentz fits that same category doesn’t mean he has special powers. Does it? Just because he has very reliable hunches and the mind wipe doesn’t seem to have worked as well as they thought. That doesn’t mean . . . No. It can’t. Can it?
And that’s only part of it! In between descriptions of the beautiful countryside, and filling out the profiles of her fascinating characters, the author sets us on a wild ride. First running with Addie from Jake, then with Jake running to try and find Addie, and finally Lentz’s trying to find them both.
It’s a great story full of romance, commitment, and adventure. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
5 CRANKY STARS
This is the follow up to Storm Born and I highly recommend that you read that one first. This is a professionally written series about witches in America and a young girl who never knew she was one. When she was found, it was by both a member of a large clan of witches and an investigator from the Department of Homeland Security. Addie Grant was born with a special talent that she had no control over and that is how they found her. Jake wants to train her and as it turns out she is part of his clan. Agent Lenz wants to experiment on her because no one knows about the witches. When Agent Lenz finds her for the second time, she decides to run as fast and as far as she can to keep the Wilcox witches safe. So, this is that story. She no sooner gets to New Mexico and the Prima there has her brought to her. Luckily, she decides to help Addie and away she goes to hide in Wyoming with a tribe of Indians. There are no witches in Wyoming. However, when Jake finds her gone, he has his cousin try to find her. Then he leaves to look for her. It is a love story and mystery rolled into one. Hopefully, these cliffhanger endings will resolve in not too many books.
I did not start with Storm Born (The Witches of Wheeler Park Book 1); I will try to decide if this is stand-alone or needs to be read after Book 1. “Thunder Road” picks up immediately after Book 1, but we don’t know why Adara “Addie” Grant is fleeing from Jake and Wilcox territory in Flagstaff. We don’t know why Jake, who is apparently her “fated mate”, is after her; how and why Agent Lenz got dumped in Kanab, Utah, after being struck by lightning. Despite the frequent “bring us up to date” segments,I think I would have preferred to read “Storm Born” first. I intend to go back and read it. This is not a horror story, like Project Demon Hunters series, or aliens among us, like The Sedona Files. It is more a supernatural romance, with the emphasis on romance, more like The Witches of Cleopatra Hill Book 6. This book is mainly about the mutually reluctant separation of Jake and Addie, a short version of why they separated, how they now miss each other intensely (overdone for my personal taste), and then finally realize they are “fated mates” and meant to be together. And of course, in the next book, they will have to deal with Agent Lenz, who is hot on the trail of Addie so he can add her to his collection of witches and warlocks. It’s a well-written book, with engaging characters and some nice action sequences; but very heavy on separation anxiety.
This is a great book 2! The storyline continues in this awesome suspenseful paranormal romance and will have you hook line and sinker from the very start! Love the storyline, love the characters and eagerly lost myself In This exciting world and would totally recommend you read the previous book first, you will not be let down!
