Third generation Texas Ranger Tyler Steele is the last of a dying breed– a modern day cowboy hero living in a world that doesn’t quite understand his powerful sense of right and wrong and instinct to defend those who can’t defend themselves. Despite his strong moral compass, Ty has trouble seeing his greatest weakness. His hard outer shell, the one essential to his work, made him incapable of … forging the emotional connection his wife Andie so desperately needed.
Now retired, rasing their son Brodie on his own, and at risk of losing his ranch, Ty does not know how to rebuild from the rubble of his life. The answer comes in the form of Samantha and her daughter Hope, on the run from a seemingly inescapable situation. They are in danger, desperate, and alone. Though they are strangers, Ty knows he can help– protecting the innocent is what he does best. As his relationship with Sam and Hope unfolds, Ty realizes he must confront his true weaknesses if he wants to become the man he needs to be.more
love his books!!!!!!!!!!!
Great summer read!
Author does not really know much about Texas. !
I enjoy reading Charles Martin’s books. I am never disappointed. He is a wonderful writer.
I love a book that grips me; one that pulls me in and makes me think, one that makes me feel deeply. “Thunder and Rain” is one of those books. I laughed, I cried, I got angry (at the bad guys), my heart broke and then it smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. “Thunder and Rain” is one of the best stories I’ve read in quite some time and I highly recommend it.
Jumpy. It was difficult to follow the story line. Indecisive. Main character couldn’t make up his mind–retired or not, in love or not, which woman he wanted or not.
Well written in a way that pulls you in through lyrical scenes that are revealed slowly throughout the book to uncover the truth behind them.
Charles Martin is a fabulous writer who takes you into his world and holds you enthralled with his story and his characters. This story may be his best. I can’t say for certain because I’m still reading his works, but this is heartrending- I laughed, I cried my eyes out. I don’t cry over books but I did with this one. Martin makes you feel, deep down inside, while he entertains you with a fabulous story that just might impact your life for the better if you let it.
I really enjoy Charles Martin’s book. Other than “Where the River Ends”,
this book is my next favorite! You won’t be disappointed.
Excellent as are all Charles Martin books
Loved this book! Have read several of his books and enjoyed every one! Excellent author.
This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. I look forward to reading more and have recommend it to my husband.
The characters were well developed and the story held my interest to the end. The ending was a delightful surprise. One thing I did find somewhat confusing was the switching back and forth from past to present. I think this was necessary though to explain why the characters were the way they were.
Love Charles Martin’s style of writing. Great author! Good book, as always.
Evil vs Good, forgiveness, heartache, compassion, thought provoking, betrayal, honor, hope, prayer, all in one book. Charles Martin rocks the written word. 5 stars.
