My first book from Stacey Wilk and I am hooked. Her writing is descriptive and emotional, once I started I didn’t want to put it down. Strong firefighter fighting panic attacks. A single mom fighting for her kids. Both go through an emotional rollercoaster in this story. The characters are so real and believable. Both flawed from experiences in their past, can they fight through them for their future. You’ll have to read the awesome book to find out.
I absolutely loved Phoenix and Mack. Phoenix is a firefighter who also happens to be brothers with Mack’s sister’s husband so Mack and Phoenix have been friends for a long time. Phoenix finally gets up the nerve to tell Mack how he feels about her but her ex-husband is now trying to take away their 5 year old twins and making threats. What you have is a great story about true love and overcoming of personal issues to find the happiness one deserves. This is a definite must-read feel-good story and I can’t wait to see what other stories this author has out there.
I loved this book. It was easy to read. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. It had romance, action, and adventure in it. I could feel what the characters were feeling. Stacey was very descriptive in writing this book. I think the title was appropriate. it truly was someone coming out of the darkness and into the light. I equate the title to “the light at the end of the tunnel”. It truly is about fighting back and being true to yourself. Doing whatever it takes for the sake of your children.
Another terrific read by Stacey Wilk
Through the Darkness is a book about pushing through what is dark in your life to get to the light, where you can live and breathe.
Mack is a single mother of twin boys, the owner of a bakery, and an ex wife who is fighting the custody battle of her life … and she’s also someone who is trying to tamp down a crush on the town’s fire captain, Phoenix.
Phoenix has had a crush on Mack that he hasn’t been able to act on … first she was married and then he was consumed by the daemons that descended after he was trapped in a burning building and had to be saved by his crew.
Through the Darkness is a really sweet story … one about fighting back and choosing a better life. … and it’s book two in a series that got off to a great start (get book #1 if you haven’t read it!).
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.Stacey Wilk
This is a story about two people with burdens to bare. Mack is the single mother of twin 5 yr olds and Phoenix is dealing with his own hell from being stuck in a burning bldg. When Mack’s ex gets the boys from school and she has to try to get them back. Phoenix wants to be by her side, but she’s afraid of what her ex will do. There’s danger, love and insecurities in this story. Loved it. HEA. Received this book for an honest review.
