Once a Disciple, forever a Disciple.Candy didn’t build a life for herself by being stupid, regardless what people might think of her being a stripper. And no matter what her body wants, what her heart wants, she knows that falling for a fighter is as stupid as it gets.A Disciple will fight like a savage, but that isn’t always the way.If Hook’s life has taught him one thing: to fight for what he … him one thing: to fight for what he wants.
He’s fought in the ring, to earn his patch, to protect his family.
And he would fight for Candy, if she’d just give him a chance
to show her that what’s between them could be everything.
When the attraction is at full throttle, this biker knows there’s no giving up.
THROTTLE is a novella in the Savage Disciples MC series (book 6.5) that occurs concurrently with CRUISE (Savage Disciples MC #6)

“Can’t say I always fight fair.”
Throttle was exactly what I needed to remind me why I love the Savage Disciples MC so much. This little morsel of goodness reacquainted me with the characters that I adore and made me sigh with contentment at being back in their clubhouse. Once a Disciple, forever a Disciple, right?
I felt the sparks between Hook and Candy immediately and it drove him (and me) crazy that she was determined to resist the attraction. What made it even more high octane was that the dual POV gave me the details of why she was fighting against it so hard. I wanted to jump into the ring and fix everything for them, but I had to settle for my ring-side seat. Not, that I’m complaining. I enjoyed the hell out the match between them. They are perfect for each other, something that he will prove to her if she will ever give him the chance.
IKR? I know what you are thinking. He wouldn’t have to ask me twice either. He wouldn’t even need to go full-throttle, he could just sit there on his motorcycle looking sexy and that would be enough for me…sigh. Trust me, you want to read this story. It will rev your engine and leave you wanting more, but with a smile on your face.
Hook is a quick read that comes at the end of the wonderful Savage Disciples series. He’s the prospect that was patched in after Stone got set free. Glad he finally got his girl Candy.
Don’t pull any punches
Hook and Candy.
Great couple both with past that is so similar it is spooky.
The author pulls you in and holds onto you until the end of the story.
You won’t be disappointed in reading this book.
I just wish they would have a book for Doc and Roadrunner.
Hook is a member of the Savage Disciples MC and when a party is thrown in his honor he is more than happy to have Candy dance for him. Besides being a member of the Savages MC he is also a successful fighter who grew up trying to protect his mom.
Candy grew up in an abusive home and hates violence and fighting and no matter how much she is attracted to Hook, his fighting is in the back of her mind.
Can Candy get over her aversion to fighting to give Hook a chance? When the Savage Disciples are having issues with another club will Candy be safe?
This is another great read in the series!
I liked Hook and I truly admired the reasons behind why he became a fighter. He was so protective over Candy and I loved the chemistry that the two of them had.
Candy was a great character and I also understood why she hated fighting so much. I loved her friendship with the other girls and how tight they all were.
The club stuff is definitely heating up in this book and I can’t wait to see where it all goes! I love that the Savages are so opposed to drugs!!
Can’t wait for what is next!!
Drew Elyse slayed it with this short gem bringing the men from The Savage Disciples MC back with their newest patched in brother – Hook!
This book has all the action, steamy, sexy fun times you’ve come to expect. While novellas are sometimes harder for me to get into than full length novels, Ms. Elyse does an outstanding job with plot lines and character development.
Definitely worth all 5 stars, I can’t wait to see what she brings with the next Sailor’s Grave novel!!
Another fantastic book in the Savage Disciples MC series. It was short and sweet. Hook is a caring , protective, and to the point kind of guy. Candy is kind, loving, but holding onto an awful past. Hook and Candy are simply perfect together despite all the push and pull. I enjoyed this story
A yummy, steamy romance!
To Hook, Candy lived up to her name in every way.
“Glancing back her way, I saw Candy had her eyes on me. And if that bit of resolve I’d just drummed up didn’t fracture. I hadn’t even had a taste yet, and still she made my mouth water.”
To Candy, Hook was,
“Unapologetic, brash, hot. He was my living breathing Achille’s heel.”
They circled each other at every gathering. The chemistry is so strong it created a pull making them aware of the other’s every move. Unfortunately, every attempt Hook made, Candy rejected. No matter how much she wants him, she can’t give in. Growing up with a washed up fighter as a father who had no qualms using his fists to let Candy know he regretted her existence. Candy swore no fighters in her life EVER.
“Some would call me shallow or vapid or a patch chaser. I called it being smart. Except the one Disciple I settled on wasn’t a smart choice at all. Because life was a joke that way sometimes, and I seemed to end up the punchline more often than I liked.”
But Hook didn’t get where he is today, because he gave up easily.
“Candy was both my opponent and my prize. And I never lost a fight.”
“It wasn’t a dance. It was a battle, and I relished the knowledge that she was smearing that lipstick all over me like a badge of honor.”
A steamy hot novella that proves if you are brave enough to open yourself up the beauty that could be….. sometimes, it is. I thoroughly enjoyed this delicious read!!

Throttle was a novella within the Savage Disciples MC series by Drew Elyse. The time line aligned from start to finish with the previous book, Cruise; however, it was told from Hook and Candy’s perspectives.
Hook was a newly patched member of the MC. He was a fighter and learned the importance of fighting from an early age. Candy worked at one of the Savage Disciple companies, The Candy Store. She was wildly attracted to Hook but vowed never to get involved with a fighter.
Elyse took us through the chemistry, chase and struggles with getting Hook and Candy together. It was told from both perspectives and was a delight to read. As a novella, it was short and to the point, but it left me with “good feels” and I was glad to get the bonus book.
I received an ARC in return for an honest review. I liked the story but I wish it was longer. Maybe if the storyline began from the moment Hook and Candy first met. We are told that there was an attraction between them but we didn’t get to see it first-hand so I didn’t really feel it. Also, i was expecting some kind of turmoil after they got together. Usually there is a fight or something that separates them for a time and they get back together. Good story but missed a few important details to fully compete the story for me.
Okay, first let me say, Novellas and MC books are normally not my go to reading choices….but, I have read a couple of Ms. Elyse’s other books and enjoyed them. Also, there was a statement that Cruise should be read first, even though Throttle is a stand-alone, wellllllllll……I just skipped and dived right into Hook and Candy’s story and I didn’t feel lost (which is a fine example of an author setting the stage for a new reader).
Now for why you are reading this…..as this was a novella, it was pretty fast paced with the storyline and events; which was great because the story kept me wanting more….which leads to me wishing it was a full length story. Hook was a prime example of pure male hotness and of course he is all ALPHA!!! Candy doesn’t take sh^t from him and is private and not ready to experience a relationship with Hook because of experiences in her past.
Ms. Elyse was able to capture the emotion of these two people and keep the story moving.

Hook and Candy had the sparks flying right from the get go, and it was HOT! This is a quick read but don’t let that make you think there is no substance! This story had it all and more! Loved it!
I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review
I stumbled across Drew Elyse and her Savage Disciples MC almost two years ago. She instantly hooked me into the drama and emotion she brings to her writing. Her characters are so well balanced, and I’ve always loved that her MC, while it can be dirty, dangerous and lawless, isn’t over the top. When I caught wind that she had decided to do a Novella that featured Hook I was ready to jump on the chance to read it.
Hook and Candy are both characters we have seen in the background of the other Savage Disciples books. So while we know who they are, we haven’t gotten to know them yet. Throttle also overlaps with Stone and Evie’s story from Cruise, so we still get to see the other Disciples we love so much but from another perspective.
Throttle brought a lot of sexual tension from Hook and Candy. The push and pull between them comes crashing to a halt when an unexpected incident occurs which forces them to look at their relationship differently. Drew adds heat along with intimacy and a hint of dramatic flair that brings the story together. I’ve loved all the Savage Disciples books and Throttle keeps them as one of my all time favorite series.
***4 Stars***
Confession: I haven’t read any of the books in the Savage Disciples series (Yet) but I have read the Sailor’s Grave books, which is a spin off of the SD series. So I figured that since I read those and have some knowledge of the MC and the fact that it was stated that Throttle could be read as a standalone, I figured I’d give it a go and it was a great read. Quick, fun, smexy and had just the right amount of drama to keep things interesting, it kept me turning the pages and wanting to spend more time with the Savage Disciples crew.
I really liked Hook and Candy. Hook is a good man. Sweet, sexy, determined, protective and not afraid to speak his mind and lay everything out on the table when necessary. Candy is sweet, sassy and guarded. Her past wasn’t pretty, and her present may not meet most people’s approval, but she is a fighter and owns all that she is. Their journey was a rocky one, but I loved how Hook got under Candy’s skin and backed up everything he said to her with actions that spoke even louder.
This was a great read and if you haven’t read the series, like myself, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on anything, though you will want to find a way to add the previous books to your very, very long TBR list so you can learn more about the MC and the couples you meet in Throttle. So, if you like MC romances and are looking for a quick read that has a great balance of humor, heart and drama then this is a must click!
I’ve read (and absolutely adored) the Sailor’s Grave Series by this author, but totally missed the Savage Disciples MC books. (I will be correcting that ASAP!) This book was an emotional roller coaster! I couldn’t help but catch feelings for Candy and Hook!
Candy has a past that would leave anyone with hangups galore. And she has plenty to share. She has worked hard to make a life for herself, and has made a place for herself among the Savage Disciples MC, loving the feeling of safety and family.
Hook knows from the first time he sees Candy that she is the one for him. But she blocks him at every turn, holding him at arms length, keeping them apart for a reason known only to her. But Hook is patient, and determined.
I absolutely loved this story! Hook and Candy are perfect for each other, and they have an undeniable chemistry, even when Candy is trying her best to avoid Hook. Their story is both heart-wrenching and heart-warming. It’s a beautiful story that was full of love, hope and family!
After thinking the previous book was the last in the series, I was so happy when this book was announced and I am so glad I wasn’t disappointed. Hook is a newly patched member of the Savage Disciples MC, he waited a long time for his patch as the club wanted to wait for their Pres. to be released from prison before patching him in. Throughout his prospect time he has lusted after Candy; one of the girls from the strip club the Disciples own, and although he could tell the feelings were reciprocated, Candy just wouldn’t give him a chance. What will it take for Candy to get over her issues and give Hook a chance like she so obviously wants to?
This was a short, but jam packed read that despite being short was perfectly paced. A bit of drama, a bit of romance, and a bit of MC action when we get reminded what the brotherhood is when someone threatens their family. I really enjoyed this and give Throttle 4.5 stars.
