The thrilling conclusion to Crown of Lies from New York Times Bestseller, Pepper WintersTWO YEARSSince my life changed for the second time and not necessarily for the better. Two years since I traded prison bars for streets and hunted a runaway who I’d met in an alley.TWO DAYSSince I forgot how to lie, woke to fists, and chased after the girl who’d been stolen from me.TWO HOURSTo save her, … girl who’d been stolen from me.
TWO HOURS
To save her, rescue her, keep my lies intact. She looks at me full of hate. I look at her full of confession.
TWO MINUTES
For our relationship to switch from mutual dislike to floundering with unknowns. I’ve hurt her. Now, she’s hurt me. I guess we’re even.
TWO SECONDS
For her to listen, to see, to finally know who I am. The answer comes with hardship. The answer isn’t what she wants to hear.
TWO BREATHS
For me to walk out the door.
TWO HEARTBEATS
For it all to be over.

Five stars for Throne of Truth, book two in the Truth and Lies Duet by author Pepper Winters.
This book took you from Elle’s life to Penn’s; back again and everywhere in between.
To reach your ending you have to go back to the beginning. Through all the lies and through all the hurt, you could truly feel these characters….the reader was able to see both their prospectives and their pain. Just like their are two sides to every story; this holds true here as well.
Loved this story and the characters…their emotion gripped you with every turn of the page.
Going on my favorites shelf.
Wow!! What can I say? It’s one hell of a romance, it’s an epic concusion to Truth and Lies Duet. The characters, the plot… it’s great!
Welcome to the world of Noelle Charlston/Elle and Penn Everett. Their world colides when they meet and in that moment we have one hell of a battle of struggle, pain, misunderstanding and love.. great, epic, consuming love, which leaves you heartbroken.
The plot beggins just where Crown of Lies ended… Will Greg get what he wants? Will Penn come to rescue Elle?? And one of the greatest questions Who is Nameless? Is he related to Penn, Stewie? This questions will be answered in a Pepper Winter’s mesmerizing, hearbreaking and mind blowing way!
Elle… She’s one of the strongest, most fierce, intelligent, kind character I know… I loved her transformation from a naive child into a grown-up, strong, understanding woman, who can overcome all the difficulties of life and stay true to herself…
Penn… I am officially in love with this fierce, mesmerizing man! He is the best. His strength, his power to love is so strong, that he can do literally everything for the woman he loves!
I love that Greg got what he deserved! At first I thought that it was a way to easy for that bastard, but then.. well, you’l see…
With every page you unfold something new, some dark, mysterious secrets and it will leave you to the point where you don’t sleep, you just want to dig deeper and deeper.
“Throne of Truth” was a wonderfully written, mysterious erotic suspenseful tale that will keep you at the edge of your seat with a well-developed plot, captivating story-line.
Thank you Pepper Winters for yet another perfect storyline, and characters!
I love Pepper Winters and this was good but did not stick with me as well as some others of hers.
What a conclusion! The suspense, treachery, and the lies that become truths!!! The love that lasted through years of misunderstandings and yearning. Penn, so sexy, alpha, with a broken, vulnerable side. Elle, so strong and will to fight for what’s right and for who she loves. Highly recommend this phenomenal read by Pepper Winters.
I liked the first one a lot better only because Throne of Truth was predicable. Overall, this was still a good duet.
I read the first book and immediately went and got the second. This book had the page-turning, reading at work *trying not to get caught* hold on me. Amazing story line, action packed, pulling on heart strings read. I highly recommend you finish the series, then go buy another book by Pepper Winters… you won’t regret it!
LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! Crown was good but Throne was immense. This book gave me palpitations on my quest to discover Penns lies and finally uncover who was nameless.
Picking up where book one left us hanging with Elle being taken hostage by Gregg and Penn’s mission to find her had my heart racing like an express train. I turned each page with gusto. I wanted to hurt Gregg so badly, every book needs a character to hate and Greggs was written perfectly. So many times I wanted to shout at Elle. Just ask!! I loved Elle’s character but she frustrated me with her naivety and her ability to continue in ignorance. But on the flip side, that was the beauty of her character and made this book painstakingly addictive.
Crown was the first book I read by this author and I was immediately drawn into her style of writing. Pepper is very poetic in her words and descriptions building great images in the reader’s mind. She is very good at keeping you dangling on a thread constantly hungry for knowledge. She has great character development. Told from a dual POV we watch Elle turn from a naive, privileged child into a woman who knows what she wants, how to get it and be damned with public perception. I loved the enigmatic Penn in book one by the end of book two I was completely besotted with him. My heart broke into several million pieces for him as the story of his life unravelled. I just wanted to reach out and comfort him.
I was always trying to second guess and read between the lines. Pick up on even the smallest of hints that Pepper dropped every now and then. This did me no favours whatsoever as I was wrong on every count! This book has been very skillfully crafted and definitely a top read.
This author has been recommended to me for quite some time now. I can truly say Pepper is going to be a top 5 author for me. My mission this year to to read her other books!
‘Thieves can become saints. Saints can become thieves. Most of us deserve a second chance.’
Can they? . Well you’ll have to read the book to find out.
Pepper Winters delivers knockout book after book and what original stories too!!
It’s a fantastic conclusion to the Truth and Lies Story. Both being two sides of the same coin.
Sometimes Truth hurts worse than Lies
Sometimes Lies is what we wanna hear and believe in.
It’s just a matter of perception and who holds the power.
Nameless had made an impact on young and sheltered Noelle Charleston’s heart when they had a serendipitous encounter in a darkened Alley three years ago. She’d been pining for him ever since.
Penn Everett is all , Nameless never was .
“I can’t tell you who I am because I never told you my name. I could give you any name, and you would never know it was real because you never knew me.”
“All you need to know is how I made you feel. What did you feel when I kissed you on that baseball field? How did you feel when I gave you the only food I’d had in days? How did you feel when you walked away from me and didn’t look back?”
This second part brings Karma in full force, you can’t taint Gods and not pay for it. The hardships actually put things in perspective for both of them and slowly Truth emerges when lies are washed away.
It’s a great story, obviously, told beautifully by pepper….obviously. Elle emerges as a brave warrior here, it’s so amazing to see her shine with Purity, Love and Devotion
I had funds. I had power. I had a grudge. I’ll make those people pay.
Together on a rocky path of Righteousness and justice , they discover each other and their love
He was confused. I was confused. Just like every couple who ever had to climb over a few stumbling blocks was confused. That was romance. It wasn’t paint-by-numbers or color within the lines. It was messy and scribbly and up to us to draw it how we wanted.
The end came perfect, just a bit anti-climatic for me though and then a quick wrap.
Just my lowly, inexperienced opinion, spreading the story well also needs a well rounded gather back.
Just my opinion though
I thoroughly enjoyed the story
There’s a conjugal visit sex scene ,OMG…… The passionate and fire could burn the pages , good I read on my Kindle;)
4.5 stars for sure !
Read this and Crown Of Lies all in one day. Couldn’t put them down.
“I’d never known love until her. And I’d never known hate until her.”
Pepper Winters delivers yet another fantastic book in a gripping and all consuming way that has become her signature. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and sucked up everything that was thrown our way. If you haven’t read Crown of Lies, do not read this yet. Throne of Truth picks up right where book one leaves off.
In this conclusion, we finally learn who “Nameless” is and while I think a lot of us had our suspicions, I felt like this was delivered in a way that could put a little bit of doubt into your theory. There are enough twists in here that keep you guessing and there is always some kind of moving piece that will eventually be connected to the rest.
Elle and Penn are forced to really discover just how much they love each other and how much they will fight for the other. There have been a lot of secrets between them but ultimately their love for each other overshadows that. It isn’t easy and they certainly have their ups and downs but I really enjoyed watching their progression.
“But each time, she revealed a little more of herself, gave a little more, and fucking stole everything of mine in the goddamn process.”
I love the angst in this book and I was truly wrapped up in the story. They both had to show a lot of commitment and overcome each other’s fears in their journey to find happiness.
I won’t recap what happens in the off chance that it could spoil things for someone so I’ll leave with saying that I really enjoyed the conclusion of their story. I highly recommend this duet to everyone.
I was so excited when this sequel to “Crown of Lies” hit my Kindle!!!! I was desperately hoping the answers I had made up in my mind where the same that Pepper Winters was going to give me.
This now being my second read of Pepper’s, I am off to add to my mountain TBR list. I have adored both these books and am really looking forward to reading more of her work.
“Throne of Truth” picks up exactly where we were left at the end of “Crown of Lies”. There’s no going back over anything, so it probably helps if you can read book #1 as close to this one as possible, so not to forget where everything is placed.
There’s not much that I can even say in this review, because I don’t want to post any spoilers! But I can say this –
Penn is still as gorgeous as ever….. Greg is as conniving as ever….. and Elle is as confused as ever.
I loved reading this conclusion to the “Truth and Lies Duet” and was locked in right from the start. Once again all the characters are written really well and easily relatable. “Throne of Truth” gave me angst where I needed it. It gave me all the feels when I needed it.
Very excited to read more of Pepper’s work.
Another 5 star original concept that captured me from start to finish!
Loved it!
Not one of her better books. The middle kind of drug and wasn’t up to Pepper Winters usual writing.
She is usually great with details and expressing emotions of the characters. But so many details are left out.
The passion between the H/h was good but the story was just alright.
Throne of Truth is the second book in the Truth and Lies Duet by Pepper Winters. Crown of Lies is a MUST read to be able to read this book.
With the epic way that Crown of Lies ended everyone was wondering exactly WHO is Penn Everett? Who really is Nameless? Well, you’re about to find out…and it is mind-blowing.
I have to say, the cover is absolutely exquisite! I love the Crown of Lies cover but this blows it out of the water. I usually purchase my books only on my Kindle but I will definitely be purchasing both of these stunning paperbacks!
Throne of Truth is a powerful journey that starts right where Crown of Lies left off. Elle has been taken by a devious, conniving Greg to a secret location where he plans to make Elle his for life…or at least until he gets what he wants. Penn is payed a visit by hired assailants when he realizes that Elle didn’t just walk away from him, she’d been taken.
“Penn and I were over before we even began.”
Now usually I’d go on and on about what goes on throughout the story. With this, I just can’t. I cannot ruin for you what is the most spectacular conclusion to a duet I’ve ever read. I will tell you this, Penn POV is incredible. There is so much emotion in his story and his perspective made me absolutely change my mind about how I felt about him at the end of Crown of Lies. I loved all the background information that was given and was itching for even more. I wanted to know this man inside and out.
All of your questions are answered and there is so much drama for Elle and Penn to navigate through but they do so perfectly. I loved the undying devotion that Elle gave to Penn. You could honestly just feel the love between them and more than once it had me in tears. Both of them strong individually but made invincible with their love for one another. Once again, the chemistry between Elle and Penn is even more intense then the first book. Danger, the passion and then finally the truth will have your head ready to explode.
Throne of Truth was honestly the most epic and unforgettable journey that Pepper Winters has ever written. I truly enjoy all of her work but this story will be one I come back to for years to come. It was an undeniably spellbinding conclusion to one of the greatest stories I have ever read. I did not expect anything of what happened in this book but LOVED every single word of it.
Loved this duet and loved the characters. Pretty much love anything that Pepper writes
