After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.
Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a … by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.
Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

A Cinderella retelling.
Celaena is a famed assassin; freed from the salt mines she’d been kept captive and brought before the crown prince to compete to become the new royal assassin.
My biggest problem with the book? She’s waaay too young to be a famed assassin (if you think in terms of the years it takes to train physically and mentally to …
I loved this book so much. The entire series is one of my all time favorites and the world building is incredible.
I can tell that I enjoyed this book more than I would have thanks to having read The Assassin’s Blade. It mentions too many things from her past that are supported by The Assassin’s Blade, which was fantastic!
I don’t like Kaltain much, which is why I hope that we learn more about her later on. I want to know more about her motives, her …
I highly recommend this book, I own it and I read it over and over. You can feel what Celeana feels in the book it’s so well written. If you read this and like it please also read the rest of the series it is amazing!
I read the whole series! I’d never read anything quite like it. Every book in the series kept my interest. Strong female character, felt more like she was real the further I got in the series. Other great characters, and couldn’t wait to find out what was next. I was not disappointed. Not for squeamish, and not just “for chicks.” Definitely for …

Review
I haven’t read many YA fantasy books. I just picked this book based on Author’s popularity and decided to give it a try. This is the first fantasy book which held my interest from …
Though the story takes a bit to get started, once it does, it moves at a quick pace and takes us on a fantastic adventure. Celaena Sardothien is my favorite kind of heroine, strong and sassy from the get-go. She’s great at keeping secrets, and as the story moves along, we find she has a lot of secrets to keep. She doesn’t just gain the attention …
FAVORITE OF ALL TIME.
“You could rattle the stars,” she whispered. “You could do anything, if only you dared. And deep down, you know it, too. That’s what scares you most.”
— Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1))
If someone asks me to name my favorite book or series, this comes out of my before any other book can even come to …
This book got my hooked on fantasy and I devoured each of Sarah J Maas’ books. The world-building was amazing, characters were so lovable and though I don’t like love triangles, it worked. Reading about a badass female MC is so refreshing. Favorite series of all time!
This is an extremely simple and easy story, nothing deep, embellished or even detailed. I liked most of the characters, Celaena (for the most part) and Chaol where my favorites, followed by Dorian. What I was most disappointed with is I thought this was a story of an assassin trying to find freedom. And while it is, most of the story was about …
Love love love each book gets better and better!
This book was so good that I read the whole series within one and a half weeks. This one imparticular was super good because you have to go through what she is with her and sometimes it’s so emotional that you can’t help but cry a little.
Kept me on the edge of my seat at all times and rooting for two different teams (romantically).
I absolutely love this book! I could not put it down!
Love all of Maas’s books!
i have constantly gone back to this book for insperation and a good read!
A great start to an excellent series. Celaena is a wonderfully drawn, complex character trying to survive in a harsh world where too many people are rooting for her death. I finished this one and immediately bought and read the next two books in the series. Such great storytelling.
When I was halfway through reading A Court of Mist and Fury, I was falling head-over-heals in love with Maas’s writing. So I decided to go ahead and purchase the entire Throne of Glass series.
Considering there are 6 published books at the time, that was quite the leap for me. But am I ever glad I took that flying leap.
Before I even finished …
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. It kept me reading up in the night. I am trying to find the second book of the series. Cealena is a great character, and so is Dorian and Chaol. #GREAT
I have no words to describe my love for the entire throne of glass series! And of course sarah J Maas is my rolemodel and my favourite, inspring author in the entire universe! Her work is filled with earthshattering pure emotions that I love to grasp and scream with pain; all in one go. I always have one simple question to just ask Sarah that one …
